Could be useful for mining in Mirror Universe.
But automated defenses is misleading since you actually need to activate it manually for it to be active.

How do you get horizon automatic defense now that it's not in the store? Is there a f2p path?
Automated Defense makes the most sense for the Northstar - because you of the non-existing Protected Cargo
and if you to tier it up a decent amount the base damage alone causes you to be immun to any PVP attack
at OPS 18 (when you can build it ) from OPS38 players
and even from a few OPS39 players - with low epic G3 ships
the Horizon has pretty good protected Cargo from the start and you can only build them at OPS26, which is too late if you ask me
Hey Nowonshall could you do a test for me ... give the PvP attacker
=> Cpt. McCoy + Kirk + Spock ( to keep shields up as best as possible)
BECAUSE a downside to "automated defense" => it does *nothing* about the Freighters piercing values
and because of that ALOT of the Freigther damage gets absorbed by mitigation (over 60%) of the attacker
as long you can keep up your shields or restore it again and again the attacker should survive beyond the 8 rounds
- at least in theory 😅

Where is the Auto part? You still have to sit and watch your miner.....
so the auto defense is only temporary? how long does it last? sounds like is is only applied for 1 attack?
1h or until the miner is blown up or sent back to the station

I wonder if Scopely is upset that these things aren't selling like they thought since though they might have some use, they are viewed as being pointless.

Maybe pointless is a strong word, but I guess because of my server there is no need for it. If my miner blows up, oh well. Just repair and resend. Maybe if I was on a server where I was constantly at war and couldn't mine at all it might have some value.
That just seems to be something that is super niche that Scopely spent time and resources to develop where we have numerous things that those resources could have been directed towards.
This would be much better if the enemy did not know it was turned on. Im not buying till they change it.
