Been playing longer than I care to admit, and never implemented ghost notes to such extent as I didn't know how! Sounds crazy, but this video was perfect for me!- Thanks for posting this is just what I needed to add a whole new dynamic to my playing! Not as tricky, or as easy as it looks!!!! lol!
Brandon thanks so much for this lesson. The last exercise was the key to help me really unlock ghost notes, it gave me an effective way to practice them and it has finally helped me move forward with my drumming. Thanks for all you do!!!!!!!
so I"ve watched a few other "lessons" on ghost notes and there is one thing you say that confirms you are the one to watch and learn from you said "loop the exercise as long as you feel you need to....etc. etc." THAT statement clinched me I'll be using your Lesson for the help I need with these darn ghost notes (James Brown will be so proud when I get this right(snort laugh))> Thanks
tienes una virtud muy buena para ser profesor y enseñar. explicas las cosas tan bien que todo se aprende rapido y claro, eso muchos profesores no lo tienen. thank.-
Is there a trick to keeping your sticks out of each other's way when playing an accent on the snare at the same time you're playing a ghost on the hat? I tend to need to lift my right hand high (thus accenting the note) so that it doesn't hit my left hand that's going high for the accent on the snare. Otherwise my sticks collide. Any tips? Thanks for the vids!
Hey Brandon, awesome lesson dude. What VF model do you use? I've been using the VF 5A for almost 20 years now. They are the #1 selling drumstick in the world. LOVE THEM!!!
Great lesson dude. Congrats on the Vic Firth endorsement!

What is that square gold block on your snare? Certainly a muffler, home made or can I purchase in store or on line?

Ayyyeee, you should do a video on just Dynamic Independence. Please and thank you, buddy.
The beat at 1:10 reminds me of "Hoobastank - The Reason" -> ur kit just sounds the same :D
yooo brandon how you play fast ghost note pattern like 32nd notes I always want to play fast ghost note ?
I LOVE the AAL's break. When I think of ghost notes that's the song I think about. \m/
Hell yea. Thanks
does it matter how you hit it? cos I hit mine to the side of the rim
In faster tempo do you use fingers?
Thank you!
The dynamic independence is hard as hell
GallonHat Pat Yup, it sure is. I'm working on that myself.

Sarah C try raising your hi hat up so the gap between your snare and hi hat are bigger.
It works for Chris Colman!
Try playing open handed! Its great for working the weak hand
This lesson is sweet like sugar. I'm really gonna work a lot on this
what are those wingnuts what brand
man that last beat you did reminds me of blink 182 feeling this

Problem with me is I can do ghost notes just fine.
But when I speed up, the ghost notes seem to slowly sound like regular notes.
Still having difficulty understanding 'Ghosts' but have better insight after this vid. Thanks.
you should put a noise gate on your toms
The intro and I go like
TUTA TUTA TUTATA TA tataTATUtataTA TATA

6:25 your bass and snare sound so weird
