"Look this isn't some sort of joke ya know, this is my birthday" Rik Mayall was always the funniest man in the world to me. No one has ever made me laugh more then him, we all miss you Rik, always a legend.
LOL All I could think when he says "yeah she'll come first" is the sort of the innuendo Richie could have been thinking what would mean a top pmsl, gives me a good giggle lol
I can't imagine my childhood without ' The Young ones ' and ' Bottom '. Rest in Peace Rik. I saw you guys in Belfast years ago going mad on stage. Loved it. Thanks
Rik delivers a masterclass in clowning in this episode. A bit later, when he's waiting at the door for the non-existent hordes of guests, his face registers about 12 different emotions in four seconds.
@@kisbie His comedic timing and delivery is exceptional. I can watch this over and over again. Bottom is a timeless classic. I feel like the show was a bit short on series/episodes i.e I wanted more!
@@holyboy1 classic comedies should always leave you wanting more, i think only fools outstayed it’s welcome a touch, and Fawlty towers was a touch of class, pardon the pun. Only 12 episodes of Fawlty was made and Bottom only ran for a short period similarly.
zander469 Got to No.45 in the BBC's top 100 British Sitcoms of all time. Also below the likes of Men Behaving Badly, Dinner Ladies, and Thin Blue Line. Personally I'd put Bottom in the top 10.
Sadly it wasn’t family friendly or politically correct enough to be in the top 10, despite how great it was, Rik and Aid were the anarchists of British comedy so they wouldn’t of had it any other way, other British comedies like Game on don’t get the appreciation they deserve either
@@Amberryxplayzxroblox They were actually pretty well known for it especially Rik was certainly I mean was the inspiration for what Dawn French did as well s Greg Davies etc, infact him asking Rik to play his dad, responded to a call from Greg Rik just said "you fat wanker" or something to that effect, a compliment from Rik is being called that or rather I'd call it an honour. Then as soon as he said he wanted Rik to play his dad was going on about how amazing it was going to be, typical Rik pmsl.
And the grown-ups will say "But why are the kids crying?" And the kids will say "Haven't you heard? Rik is dead! The People's Poet is dead!" r I P fella.
What I love about Bottom more than anything else is the duos ability to take a laugh and then continue that laugh so you are laughing continuously until you fall off your chair and your belly starts to hurt. Great days.
Me too. I laughed so hard at a Bottom fight compilation that I couldn't breath and started choking? "Killed by bottom" not the headline you want to see in your local paper.
Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson literally made everything funny. The voices, facial expressions, mannerisms etc... only they could have made this as funny as it is. I literally never tire of watching this clip.
Absolutely brilliant!!! These two are comedy legends, Bottom was easily the best sitcom of its time, the only comedy series that actually made me laugh out loud!! "I have given you a red hot tip"........."I know and there's nothing I can do about it now is there?" will go down in history as one of the funniest lines ever. God rest Rik Mayall.
How the critics hated this show! "Scraping the BOTTOM of the barrel" was the oft-repeated witticism. It's a good thing the BBC paid more attention to the viewing figures than to those little pretentious bores, and kept Richie and Eddie going! They were GREAT!!
“I have given you a red hot tip” “I know and there’s nothing I can do about it now is there?” Simply put one of the finest examples of comic timing and punchline perfection not only in British Sitcom history but, dear reader, comedy history since the world itself was but a teething toddler!
“Is this how much you value our relationship?!” Well he has repeatedly told you he doesn’t like you, and you sabotaged his birthday and even tried to make him feel small by shoving birthday cards in his face.
One of the best partnerships of our era…you had Eric and Ernie…the two Ronnies….Cannon and ball….little and large ….then Eddie and Richie….whom to me are second only to Laurel and Hardy!!! Brilliant comedians.
I was born at the wrong time. I wish I was alive and old enough to enjoy bottom. Two ronnies only fools are you being served allo allo in my teens such good tv back then
Richie is Truly a hilarious character. A 40 year old Virgin, who thinks he’s above to everyone else. Who lives rent Free because of his Aunt, and let’s Eddie live for free because he’s that Lonely as a person.
Sounds like a domme rofl, always makes me laugh that expression on Richies face when he said "yeah she'll come first" all I can think is would be Richie interpretting that as she's probably a top pmsl.
thanks Mr Eddie and thanks for Mr Rick, silent P, for making me laugh, every time, for such little outlay in money ... your the best spelt, spelled, gramatically incorrectly. As it should be. :D
Well, they put up this new road sign which says 'Give way'. But like, the thing is, the old one said 'Give way' as well, so there's no difference, they're just the same. So, what I was saying was, why did they put up the new one? I mean everything would of been just the same.
Is it sad that whenever it's my birthday or the birthday of a friend who is a Bottom fan, I purposely look for clips from this episode to post to Facebook? **Thinks about it** Nope, it isn't sad, it perfectly okay :D
Bloody adverts now in boxes while I'm watching this. Its not fare I can skip the adverts but I still get this crap. If I wanted to watch adverts I'd of watched them instead on the TV.
Rik's facial expressions are amazing ,

+REECEM92 You're not wrong.
REECEM92 Straight after making out that he doesn't like a fuss :-)) He both created and mastered the 'pathetic psycopath"!!!
REECEM92 that body language he uses while he says it is great
Gas Man was a great favourite of mine when he does that huge overated laugh at the gas man was in tears of laughter :-)
The beauty of the English language. We can turn any word into an innuendo.
double un taund !!!!!!
LOL All I could think when he says "yeah she'll come first" is the sort of the innuendo Richie could have been thinking what would mean a top pmsl, gives me a good giggle lol
British innuendo Richie, best in the world!
Or even an inyourendo
"I have given you a red hot tip" "I know and theres nothing i can do about it now" love it XD
I think that's my favourite line in the whole series!
Just brilliant. They have to pause the next line because of the audience clapping.
that and the chess match are two of the greatest comedy scenes ever...
I can't imagine my childhood without ' The Young ones ' and ' Bottom '. Rest in Peace Rik. I saw you guys in Belfast years ago going mad on stage. Loved it. Thanks
Nobody else could play these roles. Perfect casting.
The two of them wrote the dialogues!❤
I love the way Richie holds his hand up in announcing it's a fight.
The acting in this is absolutely PERFECT
No one but Rick Mayal & Ade Edmondson 😂
"It's a bit small, isn't it?" ALWAYS makes me laugh out loud. No one could deliver lines like Rik.
Richie so ungrateful

Such an under rated comedy. It stands along with all the best British comedies but doesn't have the same number of views. A great disservice.
Such a great point you've made. I've always thought it was underrated. These two are brilliant.

peloquin wow that's ridiculous. The Thin Blue Line wasn't even funny.

This is one of my all time favourite comedy scenes. The set up to the "red hot tip" is sublime.
Comedy genius taken away far to soon, thanks for the greatest tv show ever! R.I.P Rik!
RIP Rik - your enthusiasm for life will always be an inspiration and will always make me smile
I love how Eddie doesn't even need the comb
Not for his head, no.
Crabs are a hell of a std
He may be gone but he will still serve long in our memories. What a legend. RIP Rik

how can rik be dead when we still have his poems?
And the grown ups were crying, and the kids said: "who the fuck is Rik"
"She'll come first! What, before me?"
Good grief that quick...
The line always make me laugh out loud!
I always liked how when lucid, Eddie typically beats the crap out of Richie. But when Richie is genuinely furious, even Eddie is terrified...
That's because Richie is totally unpredictable.

Yup about most episodes for me that lol

Brilliant writing. Fantastic payoff. Genius

RIP Rik, thank you so much for all the laughs!
The look on Eddie's face at 0:43 is priceless, love that.

I do the same joke on my kids. Love this. 😂
