Milan, from 80 to 2010 played so many strong player, that did a lot of wonderful things with the team that will be always disagreement about "who should be the best". George Weah is not in the list ... but there are Shevchenko and Van Basten... Pirlo is out... but there are in Rijkaard Rivera and Seedorf, Gullit is out, there's kaka (gullit was a beast, but you can really say that kaka wasn't, espec the first 3/4 years in italy?) Also people like Donadoni, Gattuso, Tassotti. And i left out people like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Rossi just because they didn't so much in this team (not so much like the others ofc)

i'm not a milan supporter, but in order to understand how great is milan in football history we should mention few names didnt make to the list but still are considered milan's legends:
marcos cafu, jaap stam, zvonimir boban, dejan savicevic, manuel rui costa, andrea pirlo, gennaro gattuso, ruud gullit, filippo inzaghi, hernan crespo, fabio capello, carlo ancelotti, cesare maldini (paolo's father, he was good trust me), karl-heinz schnellinger, nils liedholm, gunnar nordahl, roberto donadoni, giovanni trapattoni, george weah, oliver bierhoff.

Swap Costacurta for Nesta and Savicevic for Pirlo and Gullit for Kaka and you have the best Milan team of all time.
Costacurta was great coz he was next F. Baresi. Savicevic's role was different from Pirlo and same for Kaka and Gullit
Sam Rothstein Costacurta was a class cb, I saw him many times with exceptional performances, he never made mistakes.
Savicevic was a more forward player than Pirlo but I wouldn`t play him in the same position, the team would be different with Rijkaard as DM and him slightly further forward, he was a magician, truly exceptional.
Gullit is an all time great, I wouldn`t go that far with Kaka. Gullit`s not the same kind of player as Kaka but his position is similar on the pitch.
Kaka original position in 2004-2005 (his best years) was pure midfielder and not supporting attack like in post 2005 seasons when Ancelotti tried to replace Sheva.
Sam Rothstein True, Gullit slightly more attacking player but still similar in many ways as he had everything to his game and did often play in CM as well as slightly further forward, possibly the complete player. He could dribble, had speed and strength, heading ability, great shot, great passer, leader/winner.
Their defenders were so good i didn't even remember this squad had a goalkeeper xD
Gullit!!! It all started with Gullit joining in 1987. He was the epitome of Total Football. The way Milan played went downhill after he left.

Gullit has to be in the team. Not debatable. Seedorf (while a quality player) is not on the level of Pirlo. Costacurta is a central defender (and a truly great one) so really it should be Cafu at right back. My XI: Rossi, Maldini, Cafu, Baresi, Nesta, Rijkaard, Pirlo, Kaka, Donadoni, Gullit, Van Basten. Never saw Rivera play. Desailly is very close to making the team, as is George Weah.
Agree with everything you said except that Seedorf is not on the level of Pirlo. Seedorf is the more complete player.

I use to watch channel 4 football Italy when younger with my grandad Sunday dinner it was good times ..any way for me being a 40 something football player and fan from England and man.utd. we've seen some great players and teams in world football but for me Milan team best ever ..and for me best player van Basten two good feet good with head big strong boy .what we in England use to call a typical English striker. and the combination of ruud.gullit. and frank Ricard.and those 3.all playing for Holland and Milan. so not a lot of people would agree I suppose but as a boy van Basten was 1 for me .then one bad day for England he destroys us with a hatrick .I hoped van Basten wasn't going to play but he did .good night ..

Very hard to pick up from these legends, I'd like to say it's more appropriate to build a team from the same era.
