Thanks Rory & Mike for rescuing my family, bummed that it happened on their first day out but kudos to Rivian for taking care of us. Trailered it 4 hrs to Salt Lake City and replaced the tie rod it was ready to go when we headed back to Washington State. Not exactly how we saw our vacay playing out but it will go in the books as memorable. Thanks again you did an amazing job!!

they look overbuild till you consider the weight. look at a prerunner. like a desert race truck. they are substantially more built up in the suspension then the rivian is but weigh less then 4500 lbs. nothing that weighs 10000lbs but has independent front suspension is going to be particularly reliable. that tie rod was pitiful, looked like a tie rod off my volvo sedan. someone is going to make a killing selling like 1000$ worth of fab and metal for like 15k$ in a suspension kit to these rich rivian dudes like yourself. ev is such a novelty lol ill stick with my land cruiser or my ford ranger 4x4 thank you very much. ever been under a 95 land cruiser? in comparison to your "truck" the land cruiser has solid full size military axles with pitman style strut driven steering witch is like 10x stronger with a higher safety factor then your "truck". land cruiser has front and rear 4link, idk where that is on your "truck". also the land cruiser is so much more over built then your "truck" but weighs so much less which means that it can literally jump. high. like 8-10 feet. it can take fucking jumps. can your "truck" take jumps? ill tell you the answer- yea it can- once. i predict that your truck is going to be a nightmare if you keep actually trying to use it off road, and you are going to inevitably spend more then 20k trying to make it into a reliable off roader. will it ever achieve that status? maybe the same way that a h1 hummer is technically an off-road vehicle....... but is useless for any trail riding and pretty much are only good for driving around in sand.

@@aylahughes9185 Did you notice the '94 Land Cruiser in the video that was with us also. I agree it's not a perfect "truck" for off-roading but it sure is a lot of fun. Can it jump? Yes, actually it can maybe not 8-10ft, not seeing the necessity to doing that though. We will be putting that on our UA-cam channel in a week or so. It definitely is a solid truck weighing in at 7K, not sure where you got the 10K. Having ridden in the land cruiser on Hell's Revenge and Shafer Trail in Canyonland after doing Chicken Corner in the Rivian, I can tell you the Rivian's ride was way smoother. It is a fun truck but it isn't for everyone.

I’ve got to be honest, at first I was like “okay we’ve got another recovery show” and I was hesitant to commit to watching… but I love how honest this show is. No exaggerations, no goofy faces on the video preview, no milking the audience. It is what it is, and that is enough! Watching the ingenuity for problem solving is impressive.. I mean, it’s tough enough to do certain on-site repairs within city limits, but you do them out in the middle of nowhere. Confession hour I guess but even with Trailmater I wasn’t super impressed right off the bat, but that truck just keeps going and going and is super capable! No frills, no flashyness.. just good, old fashioned, honest, get er’ done mentality. The show has officially grown on me and I need a shirt!! Lol and so do you! Thanks Rory

EV drivers hardly ever run out of power in the main battery. They’re usually very aware of their situation. On slow speeds the range goes up immensely and the power goes up downhill . The most common reason an EV breaks down is the 12v battery which is needed for the switches. The fix is easy just like on ice cars. The same goes for insufficient axles. The art is to know when not to use the torque you have.

You'll be waiting a while. Towing uses too much battery power. The battery that will eventually power trucks has not been invented yet.
A 1000 lb battery holds @ 3 gallons of gas worth of energy. That's not good enough yet. EV's have a long way to go.
      Someday they will be incredible.

    • @1one3_Racing
      @1one3_Racing 2 роки тому

@@TheBandit7613 there are plenty of vehicles that fit my bill of they were engineered correctly.
Hell, a hybrid Toyota Camry would do the job. It's the fact they make the battery an integral part of the body that means almost every electric or petrol-electric hybrid drops its 2000kg towing down to 500kg.
The Rivian would do what I want it to do no problems. But its ugly.
The Tesla model x would work but are $200,000. The Mercedes EQC is close but only 1800kg.
The longest journey I do is 1000km and we currently take 2 breaks so as long as I get ~400km range towing my ~1500 race car I'm happy. I rarely tow 2000kg and never long distance anymore.
I'm just tired of putting $150 worth of diesel in my BMW every other week.
EV with 500km range would need a charge once a week and a charge costs about $40 so cheaper and easier and no having to line up at the cheap petrol station anymore

For me and my situation, an EV would work. It would be slightly cheaper to run, plus there's no oil changes.
The only drama being I tow my race car around sometimes.
One thing the internet has taught me is that Australians are a lot more sensible in their driving habits.
If you live in Melbourne and there's something you want in Cairns, you just don't buy it. Or Perth. Australia is almost as big as America but except for trucks nobody drives more than 1000km except for touring/caravaning/ or on occasion. Nobody tows more than around 2000kg. Some business owners will tow a bobcat or something up to 3000kg. Again, except for caravans.
Americans will tow a 50' enclosed car trailer 3500 miles with 3 cars in it just for a 7 second drag race then go home again. That's just seems crazy to us.
