That was a brilliant little play based on Saki's story. The actress playing the niece was very talented. Thanks for posting this.

I once saw this story printed in a collection of ghost stories. The editor missed the whole point!
On the other hand, he might have a strange sense of humour.
Hello can you help me about the story open the window we write a second end of the story is required in my school
WHO missed the whole point? I've read the story. This short flick does it astoundingly fine justice. Oh, you must mean the editor of the ghost story collection somehow "missed the whole point," though how is that possible? Best if you read the story, didn't just see it in a list of ghost stories and check out the editor's notes to see which ones you want to read. OR! Just be cleaner on what you mean by your comment. Because actually, choosing what stories to read by reading editor's spiels on each story in a collections IS a good way to do it.
Try the comment by Common Yunus right above. It suggests an interesting alternate ending!
same with Nuttle
A very nice adaptation I think. It caught the essence if not every detail. The one thing I missed was the final line about the niece "Romance on short notice was her specialty"

Today our English teacher showed this video in our online class. I love the video.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your English teacher made you read it but you still feel confused so you watch the video
True 😂
the thing is that I got confused when I read it out it was like plenty of words were messing up my mind so I watched it
There is a mistake in this video that is:- Mrs. Sappelton have two young brothers not two sons
its a loose adaptation. not word for word. the spaniel dog is changed into labrador
@@gopalkrishnan4526 the fact that they even had the cyclist nearly crash into him, is shows that they should have copied word for word

Lol in college I'm reading this in 11th grade
Very accurate representation of this story! Cheers!
POV ur teacher shows u this video during online class
Ya
This story is from my book, which is in class 8th, is a very good story.
We just finished watching this in English 2, and it is such a great story! The neice is obviously a little liar, and I know this may be completly off topic and appologies, but has nobody said anything about Michael Sheen? He did such great acting in Mr. Nuttle in his mannerisms, tone of voice, and expressions.
The fact that I thought Vera's story is true reflects how well written "the Open window" is.
I saw this film in Jnr. High, about 45 years ago. Sweetly sad reference to "The War" which would end Saki's life.
Tomorrow is my English exam .. this video is very useful thanks
one of the best short stories i ever read
This was a nice surprise, I first read this story when I was nine as there was only one book in my school's library that didn't look boring to me.

One of my favorite stories, short or otherwise. I find it perfectly framed and structured, unlike so many other works that are considered top-of-the-line fiction, but to my mind go nowhere, and at story's end, you find yourself asking, “Now what the hell was that about?”
i have to do this for school it sucks
I remember my friends being obsessed with Frampton. He was our silly guy.
A talented group of actors ! Kudos !!
Hats off forThat girl🤣

From my Literature reader... Lol

I am only watching this because my language teacher made us because our online class and school are posponted
Oomg this story was given in class 8 supplementary English book😅😅😅
I heard this tale on an album. The Open Window By Saki. One of six tales told on Alfred Hitchcock's Ghost Stories For Young People. Ghost story told by a young girl to frighten a grown, nervous man. Loved the actors playing the neice and Mr. Nuttel.
Amazing story by an extraordinary man
sorry. is this a longer version? i only read the story from my English literature reader. in that, some of these dialogs weren't there. and it was a spaniel instead of a labrador. also instead of the "tea better be reay" part, it was "I said,Bertie, why do you bound?"
Adelina Amouteru yeah in my book too the same is written Adelina

OCD is a wretched condition. Seen a doctor about that?
And it was a pack of Mongrel dogs.
Adelina Amourteru yeah same in my book too. But this is very nice story I love the prank that Vera did on Nuttel.
All the characters are really potrayed graciously..
Anyway, This was my comprehension and here came for the full story...😁😅☺

sakhi such a beautiful story. This is know as the beauty of langauage😘
The most beautiful short video I have ever seen. Very beautiful
I didn't realise when I first heard this story years ago that the girl had made it all up to scare the bejesus out of him!
i'm only watching this because my music teacher told me to open youtube and this was my 1st recommended
Why would someone in Victorian England have nervous exhaustion
i know right
Because Victorian England was a highly repressed society further complicated by excessively strict social norms. You should look it up! Google will be able to explain it in more detail than me :)
i am actually watchting this as this story is in my english reader class 8
and in my online class my mam said to watch this video 😃

Romance at short notice was her speciality
I remember that our English teacher gave this as assignment, to make a review and she didnt believe that the girls is lying and this short story is a horor themed. I was the only watched this video even my classmates concluded this indeed a horror story.
To Ms. Jill of ACLC Mandaue, if ever you watched this short film 😂
Ich habe diese Geschichte als Kind gelesen und freue mich, sie so wunderbar inszeniert zu sehen. Danke aus Hannover!
ja its zuper wunderbar leibe it 🙃
This production falls short of expectations due to the exclusion of the understated last line in the original which explains the essence of the tale, "Romance at short notice was her specialty."
Hello can you help me about the story open the window we write a second end of the story is required in my school
Agree! But how would you do it? Both voice-over and title would be cheesy, I think.
It was a great to watch it before read it and I really like it 💗
Thankx for posting this .......really looking for it
Fun fact: nobody cares if it is in your English textbook or which class you are or if your exams are there
دااحاول أحضر القصة أكثر من مرة حتى افهم التفاصيل 🤷♀️
This made me understand more than the text book
I’m here just because of Michael Sheen
where and at what time of the year happened the tragedy of open window?
مممكن جواب هذه سوال؟؟
Ronnie in the book is mrs sappleton's youngest brother but in this video they describe him as youngest son.
Give me answers
2. How does Vera’s narration in paragraph 14 help build suspense?
It creates suspense by portraying the three men as wandering spirits who continue to haunt the countryside.
It creates suspense by hinting at the possibility of someone or something entering through the window later in the story.
It creates suspense by coming to an abrupt end before Vera is able to explain what supposedly happened to the three men out on the moor.
It creates suspense by exhibiting minor inconsistencies, which suggest that Vera, for some unknown reason, is lying to Mr. Nuttel.
3. What does the term “romance” most likely mean in paragraph 29?
A tendency to daydream
An exciting story or exaggeration
A tale about the experience of love
A mysterious or charming quality
4. Reread paragraphs 18-27 and then compare the perspectives of Mrs. Sappleton and Mr. Nuttel. How do the differences between their points of view create humor?
5. In the context of this story, what can we learn from comedy?
6. What do you think the author is trying to express about society during his time period through this story?
7. Cite evidence from the text, your own experiences, and other literature, art, or history in your answer.
8. In “The Open Window,” Vera tells a frightening story to unsettle the family’s vulnerable guest. Why does she do this?
9. Do you think it was wrong of her to deceive Mr. Nuttle?
10. Why or why not?
11. Cite evidence from this text, your own experience, and other literature, art, or history in your answer.
Can you give me answers to this questions?? Please
a masterpiece indeed .

Very true to the short story. Quite amusing!
True? YOU ARE A TRUST IDDIOT
tf is wrong with u replying in every comment?
Magui Barmaimon: LMAO! I always wait for your type of UA-cam Life Form to do this: To misread and misinterpret a comment to a degree that SMEARS you with the label S-T-U-P-I-D. The person wrote "Very true to the story." And he is 100% right. That doesn't mean he thinks the story is TRUE, you astounding half-wit. Have you even been to school? Did you wake up there ever, at all? WAIT: English might be your second language, I just realized. Considering that drawback, don't you think you should think 3 times carefully before calling people idiots in reply to comments you're not fully equipped to even understand? I can't believe what you said, LOL. You know what? They miss you over on Facebook in political discussions. You'd fit in fine there, where 90% of the 24/7 contributors are just like you.
Superb act..!!
