Wonderful. Down memory lane for many of us. Year after year, we used to make the trip to Midlothian in November to be there for the harvest. So many familiar faces. Thank you Brady!
@@Bradybrandwood Just wondering what happened to Ray Abell's pond and business did it get sold or did anyone take it over? Just wondering what happened with all the awesome fish he had raised?
@@peterchristian4027 Hi Peter, I don’t know any of the details of what happened to his facility and fish. Hopefully someone who knows will chime in here. ✌️✌️✌️
Thanks for sharing this video. I had the pleasure and privilege of talking to Ray many times and buying some amazing fish from him. He is sorely missed, not just for the quality koi he produced but for his wealth of knowledge and gentle manner in dealing with this newbie. I was so excited coming across Bradys videos here as my first thought was “someone has taken over for Ray!”, only to find out he’s on “ vacation “ ☹️
I lived in Japan and fell in love with the wild koi and went to some shows. I didn't know we had such a competitive scene in the USA. The fish are gorgeous
The 'pine cone' scale effect is incredible. That white speckled grey/blue near the end (sorry l dont know the correct term) looked like a Dolphin. Usually the good females of any Koi type remind me of Bull Sharks when correct....obviously inluding the swim. I saw a Blue or Grey Koi in one of the Ornamental Ponds you showed somewhere on your vids.......the coloured Koi were feeding and then She appeared out of nowhere like Jaws....absolutely stunning....
After Ray passed on, what happen to all his koi and facilities, mud ponds did someone continue on with his business? Also I've learned a lot from hearing Ray speak. Wish I knew him..
David J Hi I don’t know the answer to that. Apparently a lot of the Koi were sold off. I’m not sure if the greenhouses and mud ponds are still being used for koi.
hi all. thanks for the video. know nothing about koi's, butt that I like them. building a pond right now, no power tools, all arm work, on a clay and rock ground... will take me a long time till done. anyway, probably an heresy, but I love the koi that appears in min. 31.40! don't know the name of that variety, if it's a show class koi or not, but just love the pattern. :-) cheers from Portugal
I’m working on it :-) Just acquired some Dainichi and Isa Showa and Kohaku, as well as Omosako shiro utsuri stock for breeding. Also working on getting some high-quality kujyaku and asagi bloodlines as well. Quality of these two varieties in particular seems to be lacking here in the US and demand is high for both.
it’s absolutely crazy that this dude is like know in the koi community but the internet knows him for a store bought lobster

Suresh Narasimhan Yes definitely! Such amazing quality Ray brought into the US.
Mac Townsend Thank you, and thank you for watching.

Beautiful 👍👍
You’re absolutely right! The more I learned and know about koi the more I dislike my koi.
Huh?

Are you thinking of returning to koi breeding Brady? Nice video
ScorchAnimations I’m still on ‘vacation’ from the Koi farm, but I did do a small experimental spawn this spring. Thank you for watching.
