oh my, what a tight band, great songwriting. don't understand why these guys did not find a place in the mainstream. if not better then, can easily compete with the franz ferdinand or the killers.
god i much prefer them to both those bands. what was interesting was a lot of the 90s british indie bands incorperated a 60s and 70s sound whereas the 00's ones was more an 80s one whether they borrowed from synth or new wave/post punk.
In all fairness i could listen to franz and the killers first albums and enjoyed them entirely, but for futureheads there was only about 3 tracks on there i found myself listening to regularly, these 2 and hounds of love, in all fairness though i love decent days enough to buy on vinyl at the time haha, but yeah overall first album theirs had what felt like alot more filler unfortunately.
still remember watching this live, bought the single on vinyl just after my dad gave me his music equipment around the same time i was learning guitar, one of the few vinyls i still have behind me in a drawer
I was just thinking the same. "Man I wish I could see these guys live, lemme start saving up for a trip to the UK..." *sees video publish date* "Welp... I'm old."
Yer main man there, he has a decent resemblance to yer fella out the Breaking Bad there. His bud on the bass? Well he looks like Slumperdoche Muntermunche out of that there Cumberland Slunterland show, Crime Time Lord!
i disagree with you both. they weren't 'not very good', they are a good band... but i'd say for their level they've got about par recognition, i mean they've been featured in popular video games, supported bands like the foo fighters.. it's not mind blowing stuff but it's catchy and i like the multi-vocalist kinda thing.
HAYDS510 They are good but you are correct its not anything new, but who cares at the end of the day they im sure they know that as well. Always be known for the kate bush cover.
+steven fagan Dunno, I think the mix of Wire/Gang of Four post-punk stuff with pop music and a huge dose of energy is pretty novel. And was well appreciated in the early 2000s by this guy.

Their follow-up albums weren't as good.

What happened to mid 2000s indie
Don't worry, it'll come back around 10 years from now.
It never existed, seeing as most bands were on majors. Also, time moved on.
You ain't doing better than the Heads. Buzzcocks maybe
My sharona
Their timing was fucking off on this in several places. Tsk tsk.
not underrated just not very good.

Ha! I'd like see you front your own band and make it to Jools Holland on a major label.....
