- Well, here it is, my annual round-up of what I considered to be my best catches over the past year, and at least I got it out within the month of January. The Class Is were much more boring this year, powerwise, but NS did run quite a bit of good stuff. However, I did get to record a bunch of cool crossings, so that makes up for it.
Anyways, here's why each clip was included:
1. My first train of 2018 was actually a nice way to start-off, with an Operation Lifesaver SD40-2 pulling A81.
2. Catching NS 322 in the snow.
3. First NERR freight I ever caught.
4. First Music City Star train I ever caught.
5. SD40-3 leading a southbound CSX mixed freight in Athens.
6. First time catching a B40-8W.
7. First time catching one of the TCRM's trains (though with a set of NERR B40-8Ws).
8. SD60I leading a westbound intermodal train.
9. NS Veterans Unit trailing on NS 173.
10. FRA Inspection Train (though in hindsight, I probably should've gone after the standard-cab Dash-9 I heard was leading to the west of here).
11. KCS AC44CW and KCS SD70MAC pulling NS W62.
12. KCS SD70MAC leading an NS mixed freight.
13. NS SD60E leading an NS mixed freight.
14. CSX SD70MAC leading a CN ES44AC.
15. Ex-CSX Dash-8 leading NS 201.
16. CSX Dash-9 leading CSX mixed freight.
17. First time catching a GP39-2 leading.
18. A massive 12 engine lash-up on NS 107.
19. NS Dash-8 leading NS 362.
20. The NS OCS at night.
21. The NS OCS loaded with the NS's top executives.
22. SD80MAC leading NS 362.
23. ACWR ex-CN SD60Fs trailing on NS 362.
24. NS SD60I leading
25. NS Dash-8 leading an empty NS coal train.
26. Managing to catch a train on the CSX Dothan Subdivision.
27. Catching the Bay Line Railroad.
28. NS 162 with a pair of ex-BN SD60Ms leading.
29. Catching HMCR 3986.
30. Chasing trains on the NS NA District/NS 264 with two BNSF H2 Dash-9s for power.
31. NS 737 with an BNSF H2 AC44CW leading.
32. NS 329 with a gray KCS SD70MAC.
33. Ex-CSX/Conrail Dash-8 leading NS 162
34. Ferromex SD70ACe trailing on NS Coal Train
35. Catching the TSRR's first pair of new GP38-3s on one of their first runs.
36. Ex-CSX Dash-8 leading NS 201.
37. Jersey Central Heritage Unit trailing on NS 362.
38. Catching the Loram Rail Grinder in Decatur.
39. NS 107 with an ex-CSX AC6000CW trailing. What's most notable about this one is that the engine was the last AC6000CW I saw leading on the CSX.
40. UP Triclops SD60M leading NS 26Q.
41. Catching a pair of TSRR GP9us on the TSRR Pulaski Local.
42. UP Dash-8 leading NS 23N.
43. CSX Dash-8 leading a CSX mixed freight.
44. First time catching an NERR Gravel Train.
45. UP 2002 trailing on NS 26Q.
46. Catching the TCRM's Fall Color Excursion with an E8 leading.
47. First time catching one of the NERR's ex-CSX B40-8s leading.
45. NS Dash-8 leading NS 186 on the NS P Line.
46. First time catching a UP train.
47. First time catching an SD70ACe-T4 leading.
48. Catching the Amtrak Big Game Train engine leading.
49. Chasing a UP Local with a pair of SD40Ns, first time catching an SD40N.
50. BNSF H2 AC44EV leading NS 734.
51. Primer-cab AC44C6M leading NS 201.
52. NS 1111 "the Barcode Unit" trailing on NS 362.
53. Last NERR train to come from the Vine Hill Interchange.
54. Last NERR train to run to Lebanon prior to RJ Corman taking them over.
Just realized my SD80MAC clip apparently didn't make it into the compilation, so here's the video of the train:

9:45 I saw Union Pacific #4300 like a month ago at Kansas City Union Station. There was a crowd of people waiting for the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train (I was also) and it was in a meeting with a BNSF train. It gave the crowd a horn salute as it passed by.

STORM OPS Are you even human
I saw a Loram rail grinder in Evansville Indiana but it wasn’t pulling all that stuff behind it. It was just 2 Loram engines.
Always love a nice long compilation of crossings & trains..
26:38 all aboard the foamers special
That's an awesome lash up
Next stop, foam central!
Kansas City Southern is a staple train company in my area. They have different engines but that red and yellow one is the most common
Great catches David! Especially of NS W62 with a pair of KCS Belle units leading the way & a KCS Belle Mac leading the NS freight train! Those KCS units came from the Meridian Speedway which I railfan there!
Thanks!
Nice neighborly R/R Crossing. @3min.mark.
Very nice. Your number 18 still gets me!
Thanks! I'm still impressed that I managed to catch that.
Nice catch with CN trailing
Nice catches of the trains.
Thanks!
freebrickproductions Your welcome.

A PASSENGER TRAIN IN HUNTSVILLE AL!?
Nice catches
Thanks!
3:27 what’s the company? Looks like BNSF.
Nashville & Eastern, locomotives are ex-BNSF/ATSF.
I like RS5T horn
NS locals are on the HMCR because they come off of the NS Memphis District East end. Right? BTW, nice catches especially with the KCS on that line, the KCS seems like they came from the KCS meridian speedway since you live in Alabama.
There aren't any clips of NS locals on the HMCR, but NS A81 and NS A85 do work the HMCR during the day.
freebrickproductions I guess they still count as locals on the HMCR line.
@@bnsfrailfan0957 They technically do, but they don't go much farther than the yard in downtown Huntsville (so they only go from the mainline and over the Holmes Avenue crossing).
@28:38 why do the crossing lights flash
The LEDs mess with my camera's frame rate.
Trains ‘N Sirens vvgh
That means the train is coming
Luiss2007 studios Not that type of flash...
12:37 wow! 9 engines long?
what was the video called of that train going backwards i forgot 31:11
First off, that train is not running backwards, it's running long-hood forwards. If it was running backwards, the engines would be on the other end and shoving the train.
Anyways, that was the last train the NERR pulled from the Vine Hill interchange before being taken over by RJ Corman.
19:47 why did you get so low with the camera when the engine passed? Also can I have the link of the video?
Was crouching down to get a better picture of the lead locomotive.
Great job! Keep up the good work!
Thanks!
Nice! New subscriber!
Thanks!
Plz do one with all catches and all years plzzzzzzz David!
Can you put up a video with all of your catches of 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, david?
I've thought about making one for my 2010s catches.
Ok
Nice catch david
Thanks!
You don’t mind the train shaking the ground
14:20 what street is that and the horn?
US 98 Business in Springfield, FL.
11:18 why did you say “woo”?
Nice catches just subscribed
Thanks!
Why do some led signal lights fadeaway then come back?
Because of my camera's frame rate.
11:05 video link?
18:24 what horn does that sound like?
It's a very fouled RS3L, IIRC.
You from Nashville
No.
4:44 RS3L horn, right?
Yes, but rather fouled.
25:01 I Saw The Federal Signal 508.
At 19:53 why is there a black box over the CSX logo?
CSX retired the locomotive and sent it back to GE, and GE didn't want to spend the money to repaint it entirely.
Ok
8:35 horn?
5:46 is that horn K5LA?

At 1:24 how did the train even fit under the tunnnel

@ 27:28 I know that horn it’s RS3L, right?
Yep.
Ok thanks
Cool!
Thanks!
Why does that train have a steam horn at 26:34?
It's a Hancock Air Whistle. Back in the day, when diesel locomotives and train horns were first being introduced, those air whistles were made to offer a more "pleasant" alternative to a train horn.
Ok
Me recordó a las TFM
When did you see big game lead
When I went out to Reno, NV, in the fall of 2018.
6:44 what horn is that?
