Tbh I was thinking the same, I was thinking about the book "the ballad of songbirds and snakes" by Suzanne Collins (prequel to the hunger games) and the character Lucy gray and aurora give the same vibes for me
I read the book "A Little Life" and all the things I've read there is really tragic and sad. I couldn't imagine myself living the life of the main character in that book. Story of trying to forget the past and losing someone you love the most.
@@user-dt6rt2nr2t I love Mary Downing Hahn! The reason that her books are so scary is because she relies on pity. You pity Helen, and it's terrifying because of what she's done.

She is pure talent. She doesn’t need overdubbed vocals or over budget videos to express herself. She can express pure emotion just by her voice and and how she moves.

How did I not know of her til this week? I've heard and have seen countless performers in my 62 years, but I don't recall any of them gripping me and making me feel the way she does. I don't want to try or care to explain what she does. I just know it's so genuine and unique. A talent like this is a rarity
I've known or heard of her for a long time [I heard Conqueror] but never bothered to listen to the rest of her stuff. She's pretty much all I listen to now.

I’m glad Aurora is finally getting the recognition she deserves. I’ve loved her music since high school when a friend showed me. It used to be one of the only things I could listen to to help with anxiety.
I'm in secondary school at the moment and I've been listening to Aurora's music since I was in year seven. I'm now about to move into year nine. I can relate when you say that it was one of the only things that helped with your anxiety.

I’ve been meaning to leave a comment on this song for a long time now. Anyone who may be triggered by abuse should not read on This song has helped me so much to process a traumatic event from my childhood. When I was little my mother tried to drown me in a bathtub. The subject of this song may not be exactly the same, and I may have “lived” through my moms attempted murder, but the way she describes the nuance of this kind of a scenario.... it helped me find deeper understanding and peace. Sometimes a person can be so disturbed and broken and ill that they convince themselves that committing an atrocity against another human is actually a good thing, that it’s good for them. This is a nuance and subtlety that I feel most people don’t understand about abuse, but I feel aurora captured perfectly in this song. This is a part of why working through trauma can be so confusing and tricky, as traumatic as an event can be it’s all the nuances and subtlety and normalizing that you go through that can make it hard to let go of. Thank you aurora for making this song. It may not have been your intention to help anyone with this song, you may have just wanted to make something dark and interesting, but you should know that in that process you helped one of your fans immensely. I will be forever grateful for this piece of art ♥️
I found her by mistake on youtube and now i can't stop listening her songs. It's just stunning to see how many emotions she shares with every single damn note...amazing artist. M A S T E R P I E C E
These movements…this pushing and pulling of energy in her words and gestures…I feel it so deeply. Singing isn’t just a talent. It’s a way to ground your soul. Tune into a higher vibration. This human knows how to channel it. Connect to it. It’s powerful. It’s such a high frequency. And if you know this ability to capture your soul in song, you felt home in her voice immediately. I hope she knows how healing her work is.
I'm not sure you will see this since your comment is a year old but I wanted to say that you're 100% right. Also, think about this... the ancient chants and OM vocalizations performed by monks and other holy men since over 1,000 years ago were extremely important for themselves and also anyone who could hear them. I get chills when I think about what it must have been like to be in a Tibetan temple for prayer or a Gregorian monastery for worship. I feel it certainly must have been a deeply moving spiritual experience and likely also very healing on all levels if one knew how to receive the energy flowing through everyone and everything present. Apologies for writing a novel here haha... I just get carried away when thinking about or speaking about these things!! So anyway if you see this and actually read it all -- God bless you and your family in all things!

I see this song as the song about killing your most vulnerable and gentle parts to cope with awful things in the world and stay alive. You did the necessary thing to survive but you know the best part of you - soft and kind - is gone I know it's not true but it feels good for me to interpret the song this way
I am studying psychology and, if it helps, those parts are never actually gone, just buried very deeply. It's actually impossible to kill parts of yourself, you can only bury them, which means they go completely silent but they are not gone. With a lot of work, when you're ready, you can bring them back and make amends with them. They'll forgive you, they know it was survival if they didn't bury themselves anyway
I was trying to think of the meaning of this song, other than it just being beautiful. How did she make this song, how did she feel, what did she see to inspire this. At first I thought this correlated to domestic abuse and the killing was a metaphor for being infinitely trapped, how the person would make excuses saying he was doing her a favor, etc. And then I remembered a tragedy that happened in my town. A man got into an arguement with his wife, I dont exactly remember what caused it or what it was even about. I'm not sure if they were abusive or any of the background related to their relationship, however, that argument made him take his daughter and drive off to the end of the street. Apparently the argument transferred to text and the mother said something about her getting custody of their daughter and how he will never see her again and he will go to jail for kidnapping. He replied with something along the lines of that he didnt want him or his daughter to live in this kind of cruel world. He doesnt want her to get hurt in the way hes been hurt, among other things. Apparently this guy also had a gun with him. So after having sent that text, he pulled out his gun, looked back to his daughter (who was a one year old baby) and he shot her. I dont know if she instantly died, or it took awhile, but then apparently he shot himself afterwards. The crazy thing is, that night my mom was coming home from work and she passed by, and saw the vehicle that this occurred in. And apparently a few minutes later, there was gun shots. And I remember hearing the gunshots too. Its nobodies fault for why this happened other than the couple involved, but if only my mom knew something was going to happen, maybe she could have stopped it. After remembering what happened a few years ago in our home town, I realized this song relates to that story so well. I'm not sure if that's the actual inspiration behind the song, but that's my meaning for this song. And now its uncovered a whole spectrum of realities to my eyesight.
I think this resonates with me more than other theories... I think she sings about mixing up love with possesion of one's life. Ive heard other stories where a guy falls so deeply in love with a woman he becomes obsessed and if she is not to be with him than she is with no one. Stuff like that... the baby story sounds like a good example of this.
This song is so absolutely beautiful and put me in tears immediately... Trigger warning for what I am about to say. 24 years ago I had a gun to my head staring down the barrel of a loaded gun and on the other end was my now ex telling me to say my final prayers. God was able to give me the words and ability to get out. This song just made that moment in time come right back but my pain has made me the person I am today. I am thankful I am here if you are in an abusive relationship please leave before it is to late. It was almost to late for me.

'He' didn't mean to do no harm' could possibly mean that she didn't want to commit suicide but in order to keep herself from worlds harm and awful things that come 'He' had to shoot her. 5,4,3,2,1 is the count down to her death- "bang I'm dead" . We talked about it with my friend, but he would have to swap with hear much earlier, back before they took her to earth2. Which makes no sences in a further scenes with HR and his new girl for example. :)
I mean think about it, we've known that Iris dies for how long now? You think that her just dying at the end is gonna be a shock to anyone? Now lets think about HR for a bit, he has been useless since hes joined the team. He said it himself in the last episode. And we the viewers have grown to absolutely love HR. Im sure he will sacrifice himself at the end. Also, even if HR dies, we still have Wells. Im sure the writers are done with Canavangh for atleast sometime. Think about Iris, she hasnt had any decent story about her... Im sure the writers can come up with alot more for Iris in the future. My 2cents, I hope Iris is dead but I just dont see it happening.
The girl is so good at acting, she is a bit scary, but the thing that scares me the most are those butterflies MY GOHD WHY AM I SO SCARED OF BUTTERFLIES
I watched an interview where the guy was like "What demons could you possibly have? You're 19." He clearly didn't understand poets and songwriters at all. Aurora is a gift to the world.
Indeed! Aurora isn't writing songs based on just her own life. She uses the world around us as an inspiration. Besides, old people are oftentimes way more clueless than young people.
This is exactly how I feel! I'm 15 and currently writing a book series with some heavy stuff in it, especially regarding demons and loss and such, and I can only hope that my characters are taken seriously. Just because I'm so young doesn't mean I don't have stories to tell!
Good luck with your books, Genna. I write myself, and I know many aspiring young writers who really understand how storytelling works. Age has little to do with creative writing. Practice and insight are key. Find your style and make your characters come to life!
Thank you and I completely agree! I know I have characters that need to tell their stories and I think that's the only factor that is needed in writing (books or songs or poems). As long as you have a story to tell, age doesn't matter one bit!
As I watch her sing, it's as if she imagines the events happening to her or sees's the events and tells what she is seeing to us, with her music. Her body language and voice in the videos are very intense. I love it!
Isabella Wommack pretty sure it was HR appearing as Iris. They didn't tell Barry or Savitar would remember, and we're seeing it from Barrys perspective
Yeah, but that means HR would have had to replace himself with Iris the moment Savitar let go of her during the last scene. Also, he would need to be wearing her clothes.
Keep on watching that scene, showing someone the flash and they are on the start of season 3, they are definitely crying soon, I thought it was iris at first too, didn't even cross my mind that it was anyone else

I personally interpret this song as about someone in her life who smothered her to protect her but it was killing her spirit. Liberation from chains seems to be a consistent theme in her music. Perhaps she had a mother or father who was overprotective of her?
I hadn't thought of it that way, I interpreted it as someone leaving her to spare her pain of their relationship, and them leaving is what's metaphorically killing her.
She read about a mercy killing in the area where she lived and this is the result. A women was dying and her companion killed her to end the certain pain and suffering that was to come. Basically, that's what the song says.
My thinking was that the man is heavily tormented and depressed too the point where he sees the world as nothing but pain. And he in turn destroys the one person he loves because he doesn't want her to feel what he has and does. But in turn realises he is the bad in the world. 🤔
I've read a lot of theories about this song, and I agree with all the theories. About it being her killing herself, or that the woman is sick and the man killed her so she didn't have to suffer. Or that it's about a woman in an abusive relationship and is justifying the abusers actions towards her. Here's mine: Aurora is well know for writing songs about nature, right. So I think the song is about humans and mother nature. Humans are sometimes referred to as mankind (he). We (he) are ruining our nature (mother). So mother is trying to justify our actions towards her, even though she knows that it's wrong and it's hurting her. "He's killing me for mercy". Another reason why I think it's about nature, is because Aurora has butterflies on her. Meaning she represents the nature. Does this even make sense, lol.😂 I really love this song!❤
WoW this is such a great theory. It totally makes sense. Maybe this is what she's really meaning with this. Cause indeed she sings and talks a lot about Mother Nature.

oh yes, i love that flash scene, when iris leaves the message to barry it was very sad but, in the end not so much but then i found out it was h.r wells
Everyone talks about how amazingly emotional she sings, however I think they aren’t grasping it fully. One thing I’ve noticed about Aurora is that when she’s singing a sad or emotional song, she belts the same way when you sob. Just an uncontrollable release. I think that’s what makes it so powerful, is because it subconsciously makes us think of the absolute intensity of full on sobbing, and it brings the feelings in the song to a whole new level. I also love so much in this song the guitar. Because it ALSO mimics sobbing to me. An example is here, you get that absolute breathtaking release in 2:49 “aaand criiiiiees!” The same way you feel after letting out a sob, but then the guitar jolts you back to reality 2:57 just like one of those super deep sniffles.
This song toys with innocence and purity juxtaposed with the harshness of life at its worst. It's about complicated feelings about the human experience. Life's fucked up man. Ngl. Sometimes it can feel so fucked up that it doesnt even seem fair to the innocent that they should have to exist to begin with. But then on the flip side, the innocent represent the fact that the world is not all bad. There is good. But should that burden be on their shoulders? Etc This is art. I tear up almost every single time I hear this song.
I'm really, really happy you put the "Ngl." in there. Now I feel at ease and totally reassured that you're not actually lying. It's such a joy to see "ngl" thrown into a sentence, because I know it's the truth. If I don't see that, well, I have to assume that someone is lying.
I agree Ray. I've been thinking about this recently, and the conclusion that I've come up with, is that (for the most part) after a certain age, we all carry the burden of "life's worst." Until that time, the majority of that burden is on our parents or guardians. The key, I think, is to willingly shoulder that burden, and still appreciate that life is a gift. Afterall, life's absolute best wouldn't be as good, without the juxtaposition of all of the bad things that come with it. In my experience, the most profound and meaningful lessons learned have all happened after the most painful moments of suffering and loss. Those moments lead to the greatest personal growth. So there is a silver lining to all of that. Lastly, I generally don't think it's up to us to decide if the burden of life is too much to handle for someone we care about, which is why the song represents a true tragedy.
This song feels like one of those books that you read and then you think about it for days because it’s just that haunting
The song of achilles
Tbh I was thinking the same, I was thinking about the book "the ballad of songbirds and snakes" by Suzanne Collins (prequel to the hunger games) and the character Lucy gray and aurora give the same vibes for me
I read the book "A Little Life" and all the things I've read there is really tragic and sad. I couldn't imagine myself living the life of the main character in that book. Story of trying to forget the past and losing someone you love the most.

she made the perfect video for her own music all by herself. she is not an artist, she is art.
I’ve been meaning to leave a comment on this song for a long time now. Anyone who may be triggered by abuse should not read on
This song has helped me so much to process a traumatic event from my childhood.

Its so waterbending: push and pull and stuff

HR was underrated
I see this song as the song about killing your most vulnerable and gentle parts to cope with awful things in the world and stay alive. You did the necessary thing to survive but you know the best part of you - soft and kind - is gone
I know it's not true but it feels good for me to interpret the song this way
Good you see something keep up with the mental health improvement
I am studying psychology and, if it helps, those parts are never actually gone, just buried very deeply. It's actually impossible to kill parts of yourself, you can only bury them, which means they go completely silent but they are not gone. With a lot of work, when you're ready, you can bring them back and make amends with them. They'll forgive you, they know it was survival if they didn't bury themselves anyway
I got this from the flash when HR dies I cryed
Shawn Stapleton same im watching it rn and im bawling
Shawn Stapleton me too

Wow, that is so interesting 🧐
thank you for sharing 😌😔
It’s craxy how you took the time to do this you should have more liked
Wow I love that story I'm sorry you didn't get that many likes but I loved your story
Wow , so interesting . Maybe you have written the theme of that song !
Beautiful. Authentic. Magical. A true artist. She feels everything.

Maybe, but I think there could be a bunch of different meanings to this...
I heard it from my sister and a few months later heard it in Teen Wolf. Man, that was pretty satisfying.
I got here because I was listening to her other music
@Cat the small Artist. I think it's more about suicide. The man being her thoughts. 'He' didn't mean to do no harm' could possibly mean that she didn't want to commit suicide but in order to keep herself from worlds harm and awful things that come 'He' had to shoot her. 5,4,3,2,1 is the count down to her death- "bang I'm dead" . My perception- hope it kinda makes sense.
Or a love song- tragic love song.
I am yet to find a song by her that doesn’t absolutely slap! No matter what mood you’re in she has a song for it, and even if she doesn’t, she’ll put you in the right mood for it!

+Genna Childers Are you planning on publishing your books, and do they have a title yet?
Crap even after years of seeing this, it still has the goosebumps effects. Damn we are lucky to hear such angelic voice on earth.
As I watch her sing, it's as if she imagines the events happening to her or sees's the events and tells what she is seeing to us, with her music. Her body language and voice in the videos are very intense. I love it!

One of the Flash's best moments came from this song

Loved by all who knew her
But life was too fast
And Barry too slow
RIP
Isabella Wommack savitar was too fast
Isabella Wommack pretty sure it was HR appearing as Iris. They didn't tell Barry or Savitar would remember, and we're seeing it from Barrys perspective
Yeah, but that means HR would have had to replace himself with Iris the moment Savitar let go of her during the last scene. Also, he would need to be wearing her clothes.
they did cut away long enough and no he would not have to wear Iris clothes, barry wasnt wearing Lylas.
they would have to swap them out somehow

@@yogamma2337 you're welcome :)
God damn it the like begging is almost pathetic
I personally interpret this song as about someone in her life who smothered her to protect her but it was killing her spirit. Liberation from chains seems to be a consistent theme in her music. Perhaps she had a mother or father who was overprotective of her?
I hadn't thought of it that way, I interpreted it as someone leaving her to spare her pain of their relationship, and them leaving is what's metaphorically killing her.
@@cheyennechoy4470 i fine nature as the common theme. I pictured a man killing a hurt or sick animal to spear it from pain.
It's about sex 😤
I've read a lot of theories about this song, and I agree with all the theories. About it being her killing herself, or that the woman is sick and the man killed her so she didn't have to suffer. Or that it's about a woman in an abusive relationship and is justifying the abusers actions towards her.
Here's mine:
Aurora is well know for writing songs about nature, right.
Does this even make sense, lol.😂
I really love this song!❤
it makes total sense!!!!
this is really smart, I get what you mean, I agree with your theory tbh
WoW this is such a great theory. It totally makes sense. Maybe this is what she's really meaning with this. Cause indeed she sings and talks a lot about Mother Nature.
Mario Sanchez created a piece called betrayal that fits your theory and the song you would love it
The butterflies means dead

Etc
This is art.
@@briancrawford8751 😂wut-
I agree Ray.
@@briancrawford8751 corrrr! ngl that sounds sarcastic
