Because Lin Dan's stroke quality and innate deception in his shot technique messes up Momota's rhythm and split step timing making him tired by the 2nd game. To cover the whole court efficiently your split step timing has to be on point and you have to launch yourself in the correct direction to where the shuttle is going. Momota is not used to LD's shot quality and level of deception that's why he looks like he is a millisecond late when he is moving even when Lin Dan is playing neutral shots and not actively using deception or attacking.
