Basler Fasnacht 2024 parade in the first day called also "Cortège am Montag" or "Fasnachtsumzug" - 19.02.2024. An official route leads around the city center through the river where "Cliques" (formed groups of participants) play "Guggenmusik" (brass band music) wearing colourful costumes and throwing tons of confetti as well as flowers, sweets, drinks, vegetables and oranges to the crowd.

Fasnacht in Basel starts on the Monday after Ash Wednesday at 4:00 AM with the "Morgestraich" march. The carnival lasts for 72 hours and ends on Thursday morning at 4:00 AM. During this time the participants dominate the city center of Basel, running free in the streets and restaurants.
Basler Fasnacht is the biggest carnival in Switzerland. It is listed as one of the top local festivities in Europe as well as UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage.

Hi, this is all people related, who forms societies and live around the carnival entire year. They meet together, eat and drink, craft costumes, play music and have fun preparing in the same time for the next carnival. Although all Swiss carnivals have something in common, they are also region/city specific. I might actually make video explaining it a bit next year. Ich weiss nicht, ob die Schweizer langweilig sind, aber sie stecken viel Herzblut in die Vorbereitung der Fasnacht. Mir gefällt es auch sehr sehr gut 😍
