JRA is for sure the way to go. Excellent results and customer service
I just watched your start up video @steve and it’s been a blessing.! Thank u very much!
U are 💯 correct. It's an awesome video that's how u run a business professionally 👍🏻👍🏻,24 yrs in business couldn't have said it better 👏
Hello Steve, Greetings from the bay area. I am in the process of starting my business and your videos have been really helpful. You could have easily titled this video, "This is what an 'off day' looks like for a business owner". I respect the grind and appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
That's some good info man!! Appreciate it!!
thank you for this show i needed it.
Thank you Steve. I like this one.
Great teacher
I live in the bay and looking into starting my own business hopefully it goes well . I’m 22 so better now than later
I've been looking into JRA recently. I was going to comment and ask what you know about them. With your endorsement, I am sold!
I have signed on pretty recently with JRA and we’re just about finished up with my website. They’ll also be managing my ad campaigns. I’ve been very happy with them, very professional every step of the way.
@@ddude223 good to know! If you don’t mind me asking, how much do they charge for their call center services and Google Ads management?
Love your videos brother
Thank you brother!
Wicked pissa videos bratha.. Go Pats💪✊
Great information. I just posted a pricing video. Thanks for the info
Thank you
Great advice
Thank you Sir!
Great video Steve. Yeah I'm never in my area the cheap guy not worth it to be the cheapest idiot in town. The only type of jobs I usually one of the cheaper guys out of the junk removal companies in my area is on larger concrete removal jobs (jobs over -2 truck bed loads ) but still usually higher than the excavation companies that that's all they do . The only reason is because I own 2 bobcat tractors and also a Kubota tractor and can knock them out with 3-5 times the capacity with my F750 dump truck in the same amount of time but I still have different price points depending on how many square feet, how thick, what size tractor can we use bigger or smaller one, or if it has to be broken and hauled out by hand.
What type of trunk did you end up ordering from JRA. I know that Lee uses a lot of the Isuzu style of trucks but didn't know if he would build one on a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge style of Cab and chassis.. I am torn between doing another junk removal designated truck or a hook lift/ roll-off style truck.
How many transfer stations are there in Massachusetts. I know of Grant in Hydepark champion city in brockton and one in taunton. Are there any more? I had an all around maintenance company where i provided junk removal. But now im only going to do junk removal since its been one of my more popular services. But just wondering on what rransfer stations you go to if you can provide that info. Love your videos by the way Great help for us just starting.
Great video. Quick question, do you charge separately for dumping fees?
Make more video I’m interested in starting my own business
How do you price or charge a hand or is it different for every job
Do you use or have a program that helps with providing quotes or invoices? I’m struggling to find anything would help in the early stages of my business
I'm newer to the business and have to qoute 20 units in an apartment complex. Would it be wrong to ask for some money up front to cover costs that will be incurred during this job?
Hello Steve where is the best way to advertise the business online.
Do you get paid upfront before you do the job or after?
I am about to purchase a truck. I was going with the 350 because of your videos. Now you are getting a NPR so I don’t know what to do now. Do you think the NPR will be better for you now?
and will they work for me as well if I live in Arkansas?
Hey steve, great video. dont know if you remember from last video but still cant come up with a name. It seems the simplest thing is proving to be very difficult. Do you know who or how to contact someone to help with naming/branding?
What name did you eventually come up with?
Did anyone see that tiller he drove by! Sheewww
I was wondering how you made out on the early video where you were going to do a massive basement cleanout, if you remember it? i really wanted to watch that video. i mean that thing was packed with junk.
The hoarding basement?
@@SteveConroy1 yes i believe it was that one. did you make a video on that?
Im waiting on them to call me but I'm out of north Carolina to the same as they are so I don't know if they will help me out or not
Great channel! My brother Gary Noland turned me on to your channel!
Love your style, and will be sure to feature your channel on my channel page!
Is this a business that you can do by yourself or do you need others for heavy lifting.
I only have one local viable landfill and they charge 70 dollars minimum. They also charge by cubic yards instead of weight for loads over 3 yards at 17 dollars/yard and it doesn't matter how full your load is. If you have a 10 yard trailer they charge 170 dollars no matter if it's stuffed 10' high or has a single microwave in it. Is this normal? Because it doesn't appear so. I've heard the employees are rude and just eyeball guess the yardage of your truck/trailer.
When you say full truck, how do I measure that? Are we talking about only one particular truck with one particular bed size?
Standard bed size for this business is 15 yards
What are some good landfills to use in MA? I'm close to the NH border.
I'm not familiar with transfer stations in that area. I would stick to google and research there
The only problem I’m having is when it comes to furniture that’s inside the houses since it’s just me and my truck
Yup! Been there. Start looking for decent part time help and schedule jobs like that for when your helper can work with you
@@SteveConroy1 thank you so much !!!
sawzall son. chop it up on site
Hi Steve, I dont know if you'll see this but, do you charge the customer dump fees + labor + volume? And also I recently purchased a 2022 Toyota Tacoma. That should be sufficient for pulling a medium trailer for hauling correct?
Yes, include all of that and call it your volume rate. Give your customer numbers from an empty - full truck. Don't confuse them with charging this and charging that. Tacoma should do it if your not hauling heavy often
@@SteveConroy1 Thanks Brother your videos have helped alot
Hi. What is the model and year of your tilt truck? Thanks
Both trucks dump. 2018 F350XL with a rack body and a 2022 Isuzu NRR Gas with a 12ft Switch N Go System
Greetings
do you also have them take the calls for you?
Not at this time. I know plenty of people who do and they are very satisfied with their results. I'm trying to keep the local feel for as long as I can as a lot of our customers voice that they hire us because we are local.
I went to JRA's site and I don't see where/how to buy a truck. Can you provide a link?
Okay I found the link on their site to the trucks. Now I have to give you some grief. I only see NPR style trucks and if you just bought one, how about your video where you say Ford drives better in the snow? 😁
@@tekker8308 I think Fords do drive better in the snow. A cab over is more advantageous for the work we do in the city. That doesn't mean I don't mean I don't have an order out for a F600 though!
@@SteveConroy1 Im looking at a similar truck that you drive this Saturday. I need 4x4 with my dump situation. New trucks are tough to come by right now.
@@TheNinjaPicker Yup. I'm about to buy one that I don't even want because I need another truck so bad.
@@SteveConroy1 Good problem to have Steve!
What are your thoughts on starting with a 26 foot box truck rental for basic junk removal gigs ?
I used uhuals for my first year and half because in long run it was more affordable by not having to pay for a truck/ins if I'm not booked that day.. but idk about using a 26', gas wise it'll drain costs. Maybe a 12-17' truck. I used 15' (764 cuft) uhual truck and if I filled it up, I would explain that it's about 1.5x the size of your typical Junk truck and would charge as 1.5x loads. But I only used 20/26' trucks on BIG jobs to minimize loads and dump runs mid job. And then charge accordingly
How much does it cost for a ton?
and where your transfer station and is it open to the public? Or just residents.
Cost per ton is $140-$200 depending on where we go. I usually stay local and at that transfer station I pay for a contractors sticker to dump there.
So what truck ya going with?
Chevy LCF 4500 which is an Isuzu NPR HD with a bowtie on it.
Question brother, if you include dump fees in your pricing, do you then take the dump fee receipts and use them for tax right offs?
Yup! Any money spent to run your business is a write off.
@@SteveConroy1 What do u think of 2022 ISUZU Dump Truck NPR? Would that be a cdl requirement?
lol I am looking for the J.R.A. link and I do not see it
The link is in the description below the video!
@@SteveConroy1 yes I found it, I had to click the see more button lol
Anyone in the Houston, Texas area that is in the junk removal business ? Got a quick question !
Is it just me, or are the roads there really bad?
This video sounds like one big advertisement for this other company he is getting affiliate money from…
