I ordered some Play Booster boxes of Bloomburrow and regret it. WOTC made them so much closer to Draft boxes than Set Booster boxes this time around. Fewer mythics and rares per box than the last set. And the Special Guest cards average one per two boxes. I think I will be staying clear of boxes in the future (apart from the bundle box) and just stick solely to singles.
I do absolutely adore the art of this set though.
It’s literally just a draft booster
One per two boxes!? Dang people were lucky during g prerelease and prize packs, I saw like 12 of them pulled prerelease night, super cool and didn't seem nearly that rare
Definitely feels like draft packs to me as well. I opened 21 packs and got 2 mythics. Great set but still ouch on the pulls.
@@wademiller2376 could just be m that I was unlucky. But Ive also heard anecdotal data from others that sounds similar to my experience 🤷♂️
@@Goldberry69 Same experience for me so I think your assessment is accurate. It simply feels like there was less reward for the Bloomburrow play booster box.
I'll admit when I was wrong. I was really down on Bloomburow a while back, but the community was on it and everyone was glazing it to the point that this ol' cranky Golgari player got excited enough to buy the Squirreled Away precon 💚🖤💚🖤
I don't play Magic but there are 2 reasons I bought a collectors box. These cards look AMAZING! The art style is beautiful and makes me want to know more about each character! I would love if they put a story or show together with these characters. Also I really want that raised foil Arita card!
Given what I am hearing from people opening the set, the flavor is fantastic and limited is very fun, but financially it's terrible. The reduced rares make this a 150 dollar draft box and I'm not sure what kind of legs the set will have at that price as people figure this out. Great set, at 100-115 a box.
Yup, I would be OK paying $100 for this iteration of the Play Booster box. I paid $125 per box and, while I love the art, I was quite disappointed with the the lack of mythics and rares (but at least every pack comes with a full art land now lol). I’m glad I didn’t pay $140-150 like some people are.
nail on the head. I haven't had the chance to draft it but the aesthetics, flavor and overall feel so far seem great for limited; I really enjoyed my pre-release (3 events total) and had a great time. This set seems to connect with A LOT of people and it's a rather "simple" set. The archetypes aren't complicated and there's a tribal theme within each one; not a set where splashing and 3-color is a sought after strategy but it's still doable. Let's see how this comment ages but I have a feeling this as you said, will be a great limited set with a touch of a few cards holding a bit of money, not like OTJ or previous other ones.
Cant tell if they are trying to make people switch to opening Collectors (unless playing sealed/draft) overall as ive heard nothing but bad things about play boosters, ive got boxes im about to open but kinda nagging myself that i didnt just grab a box of collector and the rabbit precon at this point. Really wanted jace and im hearing hes only even in collector packs. Fooey. 😂
Set is cool, the play boosters are legit just draft boosters
Yup the drop rate of rates has been reduced back down to closer to draft booster. Only 23% have 2 rares or more now. Previously with OTJ it was 32% with 2 rares or more
Draft boosters that cost more with less cards...
BloomBurrow is a great set with very good artwork. Wizards will be printing this set for the next 18 to 24 months. Just wait awhile and there will be a lot of it out there. The biggest problem with the Play Booster box (36 packs) is that the price is almost $40.00 MORE than the now defunct Set Booster boxes (30 packs). I noticed that you are getting less rares and mythics in the Play Booster box. I preordered the 4 Commander Pre-cons for $119.99 back in April which is $30.00 per deck. I also got a great deal for the Collectors box. Thank. you for the video.
I opened a booster box and a prerelease box. 15 boosters total. 5 legendary creatures and two mythical cards. Definitely feel like they reworked the ratios. During Thunder Junction I got 8 legendary and three mythical cards.
Bloomburrow is a winning theme with a lot of appeal for old and new players. The prerelease I attended was a blast and the cards are fun, regardless of value. It’s just fun to play & I hope this continues with Duskmourn.
Agree this is fun and beautiful but it’s gotta have some value. The play boosters will be toxic product in a while. Worse than Karlov manor.
@@dcijluther4015 Karpov Manor had zero appeal to me, regardless of the overall value of its singles. For me, I appreciate products with good or high value but theme and fun mechanics matters to me more than anything. I just focus on older singles when it comes to good, playable, higher value cards for collecting and playing. I must admit, it is upsetting that this product has soured many players and collectors and I hope WOTC doesn’t continue to offer less while they continue to charge a premium for these releases.
The product isn’t even officially out obviously it’s gonna seem like it’s skyrocketing. You gotta wait till next week to see some better numbers I think
Magic focus on making profit of "non-rotating" formats is what stir me away. Originally stoped playing modern and focused on comander but man was it got worse for me updating several decks and stuff. Honestly I rather they reprint most stuff and new cards will feel more impactful interested we get stuff so slightly the same with different names.
This set is going to crush people on value......the Collectors will make out ok but based on play sales there should be a lot of singles entering the market. This is one set I might not preorder because those singles prices will crash hard kind of like what happened with thunder junction. The good news here is that this proves that MTG can explore worlds with no humans or human-like creatures and still maintain that MTG feel.
They already have been. I was about to pre order some cards a couple days ago and im glad i didn't because a bunch of them are literally around half the price they were 2 days ago.
Seems like someone is manipulating it, prices crashed for most cards 50-60% in just a couple of days
@impulsegunner Prices crashed within a couple of days of tons of people going to pre releases where they all got a bunch of cards for the first time thus flooding the market a bit. I think that's why it happened. I've also heard pretty consistently to never pre order single cards because the prices almost always crash hard after release.
Lots of hate on the set from the people who only care about resale value, ill be collecting the set and i know a lot of cards are going to see play in commander for sure if not other formats too. Its a win in my eyes, this set will age extremely well
I'm new to magic and started playing this year but my partner has been playing for over a decade.
I can understand people being upset about the ratio of rares being lower but the amount of comments from people talking about the resale value is insane.
Like play the game because it's fun not because of what you'll get out of it.
We preordered the pre release set and a booster set and overall we're pretty happy with what we got. We each made a deck with the combo we like most and we still have plenty of cards to make a few standard decks or a commander deck or two.
I think this set is attracting people because of the theme and that it has all 10 color combos available.
A lot of people have nostalgia from movies or books that use cute anthropomorphic animals especially in a fantasy setting (ie Redwall, Secret of Nymph, Rescuers, Great Mouse Detective, Robinhood, etc)
The fact that it has all 10 color types is a huge bonus too. Everyone is going to be able to find a type that works for them or may try a different play style to test and everything fits in a nice theme.
I will say the one thing I'm disappointed about is that the commander decks and starter decks aren't all exclusively Bloomburrow cards.
It's odd to have it marketed as a cute animal themed deck but then only maybe half are actually new Bloomburrow cards or they didn't bother to put in reprints of existing cards for most of the cards in the decks.
lol I pulled camellia and saw she’s was 80$. I thought “cool, that’s one pricey card.” Then I looked at tcgplayer 2 weeks later and saw it was selling for 125$. Everyone likes fuzzy animals
I’m so glad I budgeted buying this set over like a year or so so I didn’t feel I just spent a crazy amount of money on the set at once and I don’t regret it that and this was the only set I bought this year maybe some duskmourn but not as much
Starting to warm up to this set more than had expected I would.
Thats a nice little stack of MH3 Collector Booster Boxes in the background 😊
I turned some cardkingdom credit into a bloomburrow collector box that is supposed to arrive Wednesday. Was planning on opening but might have to hold onto it and see if I can’t flip it for even more in 2-4 years
mtg is a really good game and one of the best things to come out of wizards of the oast
You are on something when i check singles, there is not a single mythic over $20, no value
that is really good for paper magic in my opinion, cards should be affordable
I do feel like people wanted the set in theory but won’t be coming back to buy more. MH3 I keep wanting to buy another box. And am looking for a good price on lci or woe or lotr. I expect it to come down in price
The regular singles from the set are worth almost nothing, it is almoat impissible to even break even on a play pack. No list, way lowered number of multirare packs, with this set people are paying set boosters prices for draft packs at the play pack level, terrible.
Personally I really like lost caverns of ixalan. I love the God card cycles (shout out to Theros block) and not to mention the Jurassic Park cards. That set gave me hope for the future of the game.
Great set Imo
A banger? Is that why everyone in my area is complaining how little value is in the set?
What are you talking about? Prices for cards are dropping like a rock, and everyone I've talked to is upset about the massive reduction in Rare % chance in the Play Boosters. They're not at all worth the price. I'm certainly not buying any more than I got from the pre-release, and I'm considering not even drafting in this set.
In my prerelease my most expensive card was Orvar from kaldhiem
Waiting for the price crash before I touch this product
No normal single over 20 euros in this set already, cute cards but not much power
I think you mean all the power. This set completely blows MH3 out of the water in terms of power creep.
@@SwagMaster824 i have the opposite view, maybe in commander which i dont know anything
fresh cut!
too fresh for me lol
Comment for the comment god
the pre release was wack..
people opening seeing very little value for what they are paying for..
Furries got you.

Pretty sure you must be new then - catch some assassins creed/commander masters content and lemme know what ya think then ❤️
