I thought I knew a bit about riding and riding fast until I started racing. I soon realised that I was a beginner again. The learning curve truly licks to another level.
Addiction??? Nar, I can stop anytime.
    Great little video that one.

Cheers Nathan. Yeah, at times it felt like it was my first time on a bike. I reckon this is one addiction I’d be happy to live with. Now just need to kick my other addiction which is eating cheese, so I can continue to fit in a set of leathers.

Starting out 2025 and now just turned 66 years of age I would recommend that trackdays are an absolute must for anyone riding motorcycles on Australian public roads. I started doing them as a regular "thing" back in 1978 for the grand sum of AU$5.00 for the day! Good times. Now riding The Bend since it was established and really helps keep this old senior citizen's mind & body as sharp as I can for the rare occasion I dare to venture onto our public roads for a game of Russian Roulette. Subscribed from SA and have a "safe" 2025!

I imagine track days were very different back in 1978, and agree with you, anyone who rides on the road should do a track day to sharpen up their skills.

I haven't done a track day in a long time. Probably since the Keith Code books were first published. This set up they have is so advanced compared to what it use to be like. So amazing to see. And yes, they are very addictive. I was doing them once a month for a few years.

Funny you mention Keith Code’s book, I literally got home from the day and ordered a copy. Yes the set up is incredible.

Well done both of you to tackle a track day, you can learn some skills that will help on the road and it’s fun 😎🤙🏻

Definitely learn’t plenty that translates to the road. First thing I learnt was that the roads would be so much better without cars.

Yeah, I've never heard anyone coming from a track day and saying "meh, that was pretty lame" 😂
Can we see a dedicated track bike in the Biker Torque garage soon?🤔😉

Why not? They have instructors there you can ask questions and they will follow you around and give you riding tips. Track days really help your braking and cornering. Don't try to go fast straight off, just slowly build up your speed to what you are comfortable with and you should be fine. Take care.

It’s really not an issue, everyone is going in the same direction ( unless something has gone spectacularly wrong). It feels safer than riding on the road.

    • @theaustralianconundrum

@@BikerTorque It feels safer because it jolly well is night n day safer. There have been 472 motorcycle "racing" fatalities globally from 1949 until present day. And that is a LOT of high speed racing with the majority on "street circuits". I would be guessing as to how many riders have died on public roads globally since 1949 but I'd be thinking it's in the tens of millions at the very least.
