what great information about our history and what a shame that many like me never had the opportunity to be informed and be educated. So much to learn .New York celle
Very interesting. I remember my childhood days in Bridgetown. My favorite places were the Empire, Plaza, Olympic and the Globe cinemas. Browns Beach, Pelican Village, Queens Park and St. Patrick School which I attended; Barbados has always been home to me. Sad that Cameron Tudor is not remembered, he was one of the Pioneers of Barbados Independence along with Errol Barrow. The march from the Garrison to Broad Street on Independence Day was very beautiful with the Uniform groups including me in my sea scout uniform representing St. Patrick RC school beaming with pride. Going to St. Lucy during school vacation was exciting, I look forward to travelling on the green painted wooden buses from Cheapside bus stand travelling along the west coast to Saint Lucy. That was fun admiring the beautiful scenery along the coast. Hope to see part 2 of your stroll in Bridgetown,
The Bajan accent - music to my ears. I have not lived there since 1969, but visited often. The history is fascinating and much I did not know. Next time there I will have to buy that book. I remember the coal pots and flower pots and the monkeys (water holders shaped like large teapots) for sale at the end of the swing bridge; also the careened vessels, the lighters and the ‘Lady Boats’ tied up alongside the wharf. The large passenger ships anchored in the bay with the tenders ferrying people to and from them to to baggage warehouse at the end of Pier Head Lane. Nowhere in the world quite like it.
The history is wonderful can you let me know i purchase this book where and when it should be place in evry barbadian hand may GOD CONTINU yo bless the writeer stay safe etc .
I recall Musson used to be so where down there…”the cooperage” before the pelican island was reclaimed once there was isolation hospital ,Cebro spinal meningitis was an epidemic in the lat 40s…
Congratulations to the thirty (30) electoral candidates of The Barbados Labour Party (BLP). Well done to the people of The Republic of Barbados for overwhelmingly and confidently electing the candidates of the BLP. Electoral candidates of the BLP, please thank God for this powerful recurring mandate given to you by the people of The Republic of Barbados and kindly ask God for His continued providential guidance as you work to improve lives and livelihoods of all Bajans. Once again, congratulations to the elected candidates of the BLP.
it looks so foolish wearing masks out in the sun on a beach, well the fear pandemic caused is so obvious , other than that it is a great informative video
The video Grapher is an amateur, he supposed to be focusing on what the historian is speaking about, instead he is focusing on the historian. Omg! This is nit good at all. The part with the screw docks really peeved me. 😡😡😡. Thanks to the historian the video Grapher not so much 👎
Ummmm 16hundred this and that well around that time the Africans were at home well enough didn’t know what was about to befall them. Young lady you’re talking about “we” no dear those were the original pillagers WE black Bajans were just trafficked and pawns. Good history though but history is not pleasant.
You could have worn a tee shirt over your bathingsuite and a pants over the bottom if you going to meet this older gentleman and walk around Bridgetown. Your attire is inapporate and disrespectful. There are no beaches in that area so you could have switched out of your proper clothes when you get to the beach. People have to show respect to the culture by being mindful what they wear on the streets regardless if they going to the beach later. Covid or not. This could be your grand father. Show some respect.

The distance between Barbados and Senegal in Africa is just over 3,000 miles. I thought I overheard the speaker to say 6,000 miles
