To paint stripes in straight lines, brace your pinky finger on the vase, or whatever, That steadies your hand really well. I love all of these dupes. 🌹
The vases were super cute the way they are... That's the beauty of crafting not everything has to be perfect and uniform. I love them!!! I don't think you give your creativity enough credit your DIYs are awesome.
You might try using a dollar tree makeup brush for the paint. And maybe spray painting a clear gloss top coat on afterward too, so it looks more like glazed pottery...
That mirror is super cute! Wow! The vase... I think you did fine. Two suggestions: leave more white space between the lines AND never mix colors like that because they become muddy. Mix according to a color chart (or back of good dye box) or add white or black to lighten or darken a color.
Anytime you want to paint something circular and make them even- you can use Artists Tape- it has a different level of tack than painters tape. I think they’re still great- and the copper pen is one of my new BFFs
I really enjoyed this video! Regarding the vases, I think they were a big success. I actually don’t know what you felt were wrong with them. The “”amorphous “ lines were perfect! The mirrors were lovely. I would have to see the marble tray to assess it, but on camera it looked very nice. I would have finished the bottom because that’s just the way I am. A lot of inspiration here. Thank you!
For the vases, I would tape them onto a lazy susan and turn it to paint stripes. That way you just hold the brush in place instead of trying to paint uniform strokes
Hi Rebecca, My 2 favorite projects you made for this video is the gold dowel mirror and the faux marble tray. I love trays and I love white/grayish marble and last weekend a friend of mine was down sizing and getting rid of lots of items in her house and she knows anything paper related I love to reuse for making my cards. She gave me 3 brand new rolls of contact paper (very large rolls) with the back ground being white and gray/silvery flowers. My very first thought on how to use them were to cover a 49X24 piece of plywood for the top of my sewing table I am making which was from a video made by Ms. Barlow and for the life of me I cannot recall what her first name is. But, then when I saw this video of your's right away I thought, "OMGOSH, the contact paper with the silvery flowers would look so awesome as trays!!" On top of a table next to my sewing table now I have antique pedestal crystal candy dishes that my threads and bobbins sit in and I think they would look great sitting on the trays. The trays would add a bit of glamour and glitz to my area. I am running out of wall space for a large mirror but, the gold dowel rod mirror of your's is very cool too and I also like metallic blue and I bet that would be very cool too with blue metallic dowels or both - have long gold dowels and the shorter ones be metallic blue or metallic red. All your ideas are always super. I did in fact watch the Pottery Barn one before this. Although I have never bought anything from Pottery Barn I always love it when their magazine comes because their room staging gives me ideas and I love how they use vases with candles inside - so how you made your plunger candle holder was awesome. I love anything that is made with glass and wood and the layering of the wood to make the base was really neat. I have been very busy at work the last couple of weeks and working longer hours for various reasons. I also have been away with my Dad in NJ helping at my brother's home while he has been in out patient rehab during the day and his wife is working and I am not one to carry my lap top around with me - plus I wanted to devote all my time to my Dad (80) and my brother when he was home at night and in the morning before he left for rehab. I came home late last night. After church today mom and I had lunch for Mother's Day and I gave her my little gifts and then I came home and took a long nap and she went to my sister's for their celebration. While napping I thought to myself, "I wonder if Rebecca from Style My Sweets made any new videos while I was away and how cool, the marble tray one was made this past Saturday. Again, sorry for the length and I hope you had a great Mother's Day and thank you for more awesome ideas. I just remembered - Ms. Barlow is Katie and she and you are my favorites!! Have a super week. Tomorrow I am going to go to Home Depot within walking distance to my home and get a piece of lumber, take a swatch of the contact paper with me to match up to the handles. I think probably silver handles to match the silver flowers.
For the vase, two tips could be: Paint the lines inside the clear vase with a water thinned acrylic, an inexpensive glass paint, or DIY a glass paint (made witb with clear glue and acrylic paint) (provided your hand is small enough to fit inside 😅.) Paint all the lines and allow to dry. Carefully paint a second coat of the same colors. If you look at the original you'll see this layered effect is evident. When its fully dry, spray paint the inside white. Alternatively, paint the outside with any white paint, but mix it with a small amount of white school glue. Just a small amount. Then when dry, paint your lines with your thinned pr glass paint. (The small amount of glue in the white paint will give it a smooth finish that will help your paint glide over it without pulling it off the glass) Still do a light first layer and when dry repeat. When using this method it's very important that you spray it with a clear gloss coat once its fully dry or the paint will scratch off. The type of paint brush bristles can effect it also. Ideally you want a very smooth bristle so its gliding. A cotton swab could work, or a piece of dense foam cut to size. I would like to try this with some of my DIY faux stained glass knowledge and see how it comes out! Thanks for the inspo
Taping the spaces that you wanted to keep white would help a lot even though they actual vase's lines were messy and wavy, you could add that by going over them again. definitely needed more white space :)
Love these DIYs! And your lines are cute! If you want your lines to be more evenly spaced out you could use painters tape and then go back and make them look squiggly after you remove it. But you have a one of a kind look and that’s awesome!
If you're shooting for the vases to look like the original ones....you definately NEED to use a brush with as little bristles as possible. Keep your paint thinned out off of the brush, and just TAKE YOUR TIME!!!!! You CAN'T rush painting. As for your vases....I like them. Give them a glossy finish and you're done. 😎🖒🖒❤
You could use a thick yarn around cylinders and paint between the lines (temporarily) then use the yarn dipped in white paint to fix any mistakes if you wanted to.
Your take on these Anthropologie items may not be perfect but your creativity is fantastic! Keep coming up with your project hacks!!! Thanks for sharing!
I was thinking on how I could get those cute handles with only a little money when I realized that you can diy them! Just cut dowel rods and paint after wood glueing into place! It would be cute if the middle was black or light gray maybe with the ends metallic? Also dog clippers can cut through dowel rods easier. Also I love the vase personally.
Tape the vase off. You can use scissors to cut the waves/edges into the tape before sticking it along the vase. Hope this helps you in correct the perfect vase for your idea.
You can always order the cutting board for example. That what you want & sell the rest back to the store. Be sure & ask mgr first just in case. Live these. tfs ♥️
I have been checking for the bamboo cutting boards for months and last time showed they were available, I ordered a box but it ended up getting back ordered and then eventually they just canceled the order because they never got them in. I will have to check online at Dollar Tree again soon! Hope you have a gorgeous weekend!!
"The artist is only as good as his brushes"....learned this early on,you did good considering what you had to paint with, all your items were really nice.
To paint stripes in straight lines, brace your pinky finger on the vase, or whatever, That steadies your hand really well. I love all of these dupes. 🌹
Imo the striped vases were the best thing I've seen on these dupe videos. They looked fantastic.
Those vases look pretty good, I would just seal it up with a clear coat of spray paint to even out the white spray paint and the colored paint
I do Doll Crafts and I use Dog Nail clippers to cut dowls. Clean perfect cut everytime
I personally love the vases
I love the vases
The marble trays were my favorite.but all of your ideas were so creative. Please continue the Anthropologie and Pottery Barn videos.
That mirror you made is superb!
The vases came our beautiful!

You might try using a dollar tree makeup brush for the paint. And maybe spray painting a clear gloss top coat on afterward too, so it looks more like glazed pottery...
julianne089 I like that idea! 😊❤️

That mirror is super cute! Wow!
The vase... I think you did fine. Two suggestions: leave more white space between the lines AND never mix colors like that because they become muddy. Mix according to a color chart (or back of good dye box) or add white or black to lighten or darken a color.
I really loved the vases & mirrors.

U did a good job on that last project.
I really like the stripey vases! 🙌🏼
I really enjoyed this video! Regarding the vases, I think they were a big success. I actually don’t know what you felt were wrong with them. The “”amorphous “ lines were perfect! I really loved the vases. LOL After getting them finished, they need a gloss coat and VIOLA! they are ready for flowers!
I have found only 1 of the bamboo cutting boards out of 3 $ trees I go to. Must be super popular. Love the Anthropology knock offs. Great job!
The vases are nice. Don't over think it. They turned out to be awesome
Aww, thanks, Love!! ❤️😘🤗
That mirror is fantastic!
Thank you, Sandy! Hope you're having a great week so far!
I think it looks super cute! Messy kind of cute.
I loved the faux marble trays and the vases. I think your vases came out cute!
Aww, thanks Girl! 🤗😘 Hope you're having a great day!
For the vases, I would tape them onto a lazy susan and turn it to paint stripes. That way you just hold the brush in place instead of trying to paint uniform strokes
tsareno1 This! And using a better brush.
Great idea.
That’s a great tip!
Genius!
Also a better paint brush
You could put the vases on a lazy susan and spin it while painting. Love them all!
All are very nice and cozy. For the painting you can use some painters tape which would give you a straight clean line. Keep at it!

I like your little vases. Maybe spray them with a clear gloss afterward to add shine. Thanks and God bless you!

Love them all , can’t just pick one 💖💕💖💖💕💖💕💖
I think a thinner brush or going over with a white to clean up the lines a bit would have made the end result of the vase look much better. Good work
Wow it's so beautiful 🤗
A quality brush is always the best way to go but your vases are very cute😍
Taping the spaces that you wanted to keep white would help a lot even though they actual vase's lines were messy and wavy, you could add that by going over them again. definitely needed more white space :)
Wow!!! Great job on all of these!! Happy mother's day
Glenda Harding thank you!! Happy Weekend!! 😍❤️😘
Love the tray and the mirrors! Thank you for sharing 🌟!
Love all of them! But, your vases are even cuter than the originals ♥♥♥
Aww, thanks! I wasn't that crazy about them but my mother in law loved them and has them in her living room area now!

Three words:
Wonderful, Whimsical, and Weeeeeee!!!
Love these DIYs! And your lines are cute! If you want your lines to be more evenly spaced out you could use painters tape and then go back and make them look squiggly after you remove it. But you have a one of a kind look and that’s awesome!
LOVE THE VASES!
I 💝 the vases. They turned out great. 👍
Thank you so much, Sophia!
I think the vases are adorable! Thank you so much for including it in this video.
Aww, I'm glad you like them! Thank you!
vases are cute-- I think a better quality brush with stiff bristles may have helped but nice job. I am going to give it a try.
I loved them ALL!!!!
Love the mirrors - but the trays are my favorite.

Terrific vases .... yes a small flat brush would be easier .... smart dupes!!
We just got in our Dollar Tree the Bamboo Cutting Boards!! They are beautiful!
Oh wow! That's awesome! I've still never actually seen one in real life! LOL
Your base is actually more beautiful I love it!
They look nice I like both.
I prefer your vases. I think they came out great. Very authentic. Lines do not have to be perfect.
You could use a thick yarn around cylinders and paint between the lines (temporarily) then use the yarn dipped in white paint to fix any mistakes if you wanted to.
Very nice
The vases are awsome!!
I like very much the tray. I'm also intéressée on the Golden flowery sculpture behind the vases at the end. Grenat work and keep inspiring us!
Your take on these Anthropologie items may not be perfect but your creativity is fantastic! Keep coming up with your project hacks!!! Thanks for sharing!
The marble trays. They were all good! Thanks!
A good paint brush makes all the difference, the mirror with dowels is my fav!
Mine too!
Love the vases! Spray w clean spray paint, to be glossy looking
Your vases look at least as good as the Anthropologie ones, if not better because you did them yourself!! Please keep on showing us all of your work.
My favorite has to be the copper trimmed mirror. But they're all great. Have a great night.
Thank you so much, Sandy! Same to you! 😘❤️🤗
I love the vases. They're very cute and quirky.
Everything came out great
I love the mirrors it's so beautiful
Wonderful , wonderful so beautiful .
Tape the vase off. You can use scissors to cut the waves/edges into the tape before sticking it along the vase. Hope this helps you in correct the perfect vase for your idea.
Love all 3 my favorite
Love the mirror
I enjoyed your crafting, even those last vases are delightful!
Aww, thanks, Pam!! 🤗💗
You can always order the cutting board for example. That what you want & sell the rest back to the store. Be sure & ask mgr first just in case. Live these. tfs ♥️

I really like the vases. The look great.
Thank you, Sheree!
I think you did a fantastic job recreating those items
"The artist is only as good as his brushes"....learned this early on,you did good considering what you had to paint with, all your items were really nice.
Good point! I definitely believe that after using the cheap Dollar Tree brushes! 😂
I agree! I think it’s awesome to use items from the Dollar Tree for these DIYs, but I’d skip over the paint brushes and use nicer ones. 🙂
irene gronewald especially when applying makeup 😄
