Thank you very much Jennifer! This isn’t the best spirograph, but the steps are there. I need to make another one and switch a few things up. Thanks for reminding me. 🥰❤️🌈
I just watched the “Dye Hard” documentary and was perplexed as to why only men tie-dyers were showcased in it. They said no women artists wanted to participate. It would’ve been fun to see you in their video. It would’ve been a great exposure opportunity for you. I follow you because you are a giving person and share your creative process. ❤️🌈
I've only just started getting into tie-dying as a hobby/therapy, and I appreciate your videos. Especially because not only do you post your oopsies, but also the voice-over with you explaining what&why you are doing; most other channels that I have found just have elevator musak playing in the background with a sped-up format so, you can't really tell what is happening. I didn't know this was called 'spirograph'. But, the spiral (off center) has long been one of my favorite patterns, and what I have been doing to compensate for my learning curve mishaps is turning spirals into spirographs. So much so that it has quickly become my new favorite pattern. I am having trouble getting my colors to stay after washing and would love to correspond with you to help figure out where my deficiencies are located. However here on UA-cam is the closest thing I have to a social media presence. So, I am going to go through your channel to try to find an email... please be on the lookout for a letter from some crazy dude has a tendency to seem somewhat psykospastic@ just about everything... BTDubs, I recognize that the shirt in this video didn't turn out the way you intended, but I personally think it turned out pretty damn stellar.
☺️ Thank you!! Hey there! I’d love to see what you’re up to. I have a Facebook group I’ve created to coincide with my UA-cam channel. It’s a place to share and learn. I understand not being on social media but I highly recommend joining the group. It’s free and there are amazing tie dyers in there with brilliant ideas. Let me know it’s you when you share your posts. ❤️🌈 facebook.com/groups/1808680025961779/?ref=share_group_link
I like it. Bluebird is a strong color but I like it better than cerulean blue. I think is a nicer looking shade of blue. When you slurped I spit my coffee out laughing. I love your personality so that makes up for the shirt not being what you wanted. Someone will wear it. Thanks for sharing the process Steph.
I think it looks fine. It's really difficult to mess up a tie-dye. It may not turn out the exact way you wanted it to, but someone is going to see this one and they won't be able to live without it.
I maybe would’ve started with bluebird. In hopes that the second soda ash bath reduces it’s intensity. But I definitely still see a spirograph in the design.
It’s good. I’d still wear it. The process is there you just needed less dye. These are great teaching videos. Now I know what not to do when I make mine. ✌🏻
I like it. I’ve seen these before. Yours is different but I appreciate you showing the process and explaining things. Only a few channels care enough to take their time to teach. Even though it’s not the way you wanted it to be I still learned something new. Thanks Steph.
No way Marc! The blue would never come out. I have so much stuff to dye I’ll just try again another time. Special things like a one of a kind dress… maybe, but not on a dime a dozen tank top. But thanks for not straight up telling me I suck. 😂🤣😂❤️🌈
Thanks for the process... May be a while before I attempt it. Seems there are people that do these as 'Their thing'... To me, unless you're an online power seller of specialty things... and assembly line 10 at a time, I'm with you.. probably not the ROI i'm looking for... back to Geodes and TDS for me 😆
Yeah, they are too labor intensive for the outcome. When done correctly they are cool but a week for one shirt and all the detergent and hot water cycles & etc, I’ll pass. ❤️🌈
During one of your tutorials, could you explain why you do a project right side out vs inside out (although I know you do both)? maybe do two shirts the same, but with one inside out and the other right side out so, beside pattern direction, we can see the difference!
Sure. One of these days. There is zero difference other than the spiral will change directions. This was done inside out and in order to pull it off correctly it needed to remain inside out. I personally turn the. inside out so the seams are out of the way for centering. That’s all. ❤️🌈
I love this design. I would suggest thickening the dye to get hard edges, but only if you’re going for that look… Kinda like a psychedelic spider or a hypnotic mandala (if that’s thing). 🤔
So THAT is how spirographs are done?! I've been trying to figure it out and couldn't! Completely agree about blue, that stuff just goes everywhere and I call it stripper glitter as a result. It's sticky when in powder form and just an overall pain to work with. I think you're right about using a sponge brush to apply it in this case and for sure I'm going to try this - I think it's a really cool look for spirals. I wonder if other patterns couold also be done just on the edges to spice it up? Lots of potential for this, thanks!
Ohhh darn it. The bluebird took over. I love the color though. You gave me good ideas to try. I’m going to follow your advice and paint the color on. It’s still cute. I would totally wear this.
Interesting, definitely wouldn't be worth it for me to be to fold, dye, and to rinse twice. But, nice to see how it's done. I do see the spirograph, it's nice. 🥰
I did this a bit different. Soda ash first. Spiral then put dye on with brush. Let sit 1/2 day or so. Unspiral. Turn inside out. Line up dye lines on inside. Redo spiral. Paint dye on with brush. Let sit 1/2 day then apply dye. Let sit 24 hrs wash out.
Thanks!
Thank you very much Jennifer! This isn’t the best spirograph, but the steps are there. I need to make another one and switch a few things up. Thanks for reminding me. 🥰❤️🌈
I’ve seen a number of Spirograph videos. This one has the best explanation. Now I get it.

Good question!
I like it when you show the ones that don't turn out like you hope. Its very relatable! Its still a cool shirt!!

You are correct Steph, not much of a spirograph, however, it is a cool shirt! I do love the colors!!!!

I really like this one Steph - very firework-ish - and spirograph takes me right back to my childhood! Thank you for sharing this one!!!
The red and blue tank top is very cool. There's just enouugh white showing to give it depth. Nice job🎉🎉🎉
Yes, dyeing is full of happy accidents! Then we learn & go on to the next project.🤣
That’s exactly right! ❤️🌈
I just saw one of these today, wondered how they made it. I think they used ice though, a bit perplexing, but so cool.
This is a really cool project
I think it looks fine. It's really difficult to mess up a tie-dye. It may not turn out the exact way you wanted it to, but someone is going to see this one and they won't be able to live without it.
So true!!! 😁❤️🌈
I maybe would’ve started with bluebird. In hopes that the second soda ash bath reduces it’s intensity. But I definitely still see a spirograph in the design.
That’s a thought. ❤️🌈
Still looks beautiful. Looks like forth of July. Love it.
It’s good. I’d still wear it. The process is there you just needed less dye. These are great teaching videos. Now I know what not to do when I make mine. ✌🏻
Still came out cool tho..thanks for sharing n i will too
This is different and beautiful. Even though it did not come as you expected it is still beautiful.
Thanks Ruby! ❤️🌈
"Here's what I did, Here's how it can be done better." I like seeing the ones that don't turn out 'as expected'. I like the way this turned out!
😊 I try to show everything to hopefully keep others from making the same mistakes. 😁❤️🌈

OWB is your friend. hehehe i think you ought to do it over. lol the slurp noise was funny.

Looks like fireworks!
Yes it does! ❤️🌈
Blue is my favorite color. I’d wear this if it had sleeves. 💙

I get what you’re saying, but I think this is super fun! 🐦 is a beast
🙋🏼♀️I'm thinking now I know what I'm gonna do with the dye sponges I have lying around 🌻💙💜🏴
thank you i wondered how to do this
Well do yours differently. 😉 ❤️🌈
I love it, Steph, I want to do this on a pair of white jeans. Thanks for sharing.
That's adorable. I would look like a Peppermint candy in it (; given my general round shape). 😋 Very neat though.
You might if I would have stopped at red and white. 😉 Thank you. ❤️🌈

I've been experimenting, nothing like this yet 😂 Thanks

It’s beautiful, Steph and I totally see the Spirograph!! Great video - and thank you for all you do!!
Interesting, definitely wouldn't be worth it for me to be to fold, dye, and to rinse twice. But, nice to see how it's done. I do see the spirograph, it's nice. 🥰
My thoughts exactly!! ❤️🌈
I like it a lot. Thanks for all your tips! I will try it one of these days
I don’t know I think it turned out pretty good myself I’m a tank top wearer I would wear this for sure😁✌️OH YA 3x🤣
I love it!! I think it looks like a Spirograph
A little… 😁❤️🌈
I like it, bet it grows on you☺️
It looks great, Steph!
Might not have worked as you wanted, but the result isn't terrible. Still a nice summer top.
Cool!
Could you use deep purple on front and a lighter purple on back? (Or any light/dark combo?).
Yes, that would work. ❤️🌈
Pretty
Thank you! ❤️🌈
It’s fabulous!!! I love it! 💙 Lots of work though, huh?
Too much work! Too many steps. ❤️🌈
Are u going the Same direction on the spiral as the front side or do u opposite it?
I did this a bit different. Soda ash first. Spiral then put dye on with brush. Let sit 1/2 day or so. Unspiral. Turn inside out. Line up dye lines on inside. Redo spiral. Paint dye on with brush. Let sit 1/2 day then apply dye. Let sit 24 hrs wash out.
Love this!!!!
I liked it more being just red and white 🐸
It’s nice but I see what you mean. I’d love to watch you do it with a brush like you said.
Yes! Please show us
Nice, when do yo put soda ash, and how do you put it.
So when you say you use milsoft, are you putting it in the spot where the fabric softener goes or are you doing a separate cycle with just millsoft?
It’s own hot water cycle. I requires hot water. ❤️🌈
@@BelladonnaDyesCo thank you
What are you talking about? I love it!
I like alot
I have tried and tried to do a spiral but for whatever reason I can't do it and I'm not going to give up normally but this is driving me crazy
Nice idea though.
Just dye the outside you mean?
I was surprised at your disappointment, I think it's cool.
