Peace be upon the readers. I stayed in Dakar Senegal for three years. At one time when I lived in Sacre Coeur III, after my morning run. I would go to have breakfast in a small Bazaar in Libertie 6. There was a time in the morning that this Qasidah would play on the radio. Hearing it would invigorate my heart and soul. It would dare to say it has a gospel feels to the sound. There is something so deeply soulful about the way the Muridi brothers recite this Qasidah. Not to mention the beauty contain in the text. Each time my soul and spirit feels depressed and sad , I listen to this. It also reminds me of my wonderful time in Senegal, its Teranga, (senegal hospitality) it beautiful Black skinned people, with their multicolor rich regalia. The layers of culture that exist in every town and village. It reminds me of the seashore. I later lived on a rooftop in Citie Doune near Famarcie Gulf. I would sit on the roof each morning reciting Holy Quran after drink my Toubah coffee and watch the fishermen, youth and women grace the seashore to collect their morning catch from a huge net. The atlantic ocean would rush and roar. Sometime I would reflect on the impact of the transatlantic and the enslaved people taken from here. On the weekend I would behold hundred of regal black skinned youth playing football, children dancing in the waves and entire families spending time on the beach. The low late afternoon sunsets. I'd hear this Qasidah on my weekend journey to Aga Ndmack, Thiediye to work on a Jaka and Dara building project. It was like a theme music one hears in a motion picture. It contained a feeling that replayed in my heart and mind. A repetition of a peaceful and warm feelings that Allah was with me at a time in my life that I was in a huge text and trail. It was with me when I visit the Tomb of Shaykh Ahmadou Bamba(ram) in the city of Toubah. Seeing thousands of people young and old at the Magal. In love with a soul who wrote thousands of intensely rich Qasidah on the Holy Last Messenger, Muhammad Mustafa(Peace and Blessing be upon him.) Serigne Toubah, Khadim Rasul they called Him. If Allah so wills I will return to Senegal , her seacoast , her people and her songs. Balma Ak.
