Costs of airplane ownership vary widely from owner to owner. This video takes an average of the various expenses from existing owners and boils them down to simple to digest numbers. Your ownership experiences will be unique.
Cant say how much i love thesr videos, keep it up. You should do a warbird, like the P-51 or the spitfire, i think it would be interesting to see how much they cost
A PBY would be interesting or a Corsair
Please do a Corsair. They’re so beautiful.
I agree, maybe a bearcat because those are more common
Honestly though the only thing remotely within reach us a thunder mustang
I Guess it would be something like 1.2Million $ for restauration or buying and anualy 20k in Maintenance.
These breakdowns are really excellent!
I know it's impractical from anything but a commercial standpoint, but I would absolutely love to see you do a video on the DH 2 beaver and the DH 6 twin Otter. By far my two favorite planes ever made.
I just can't get enough of these videos. Road to 1million sub!
These videos are phenomenal. Please continue to build out this series with ever more planes.
I don't even want to buy a plane, but I am surprised at how *fast* this Cessna cruises. I thought it would barely go faster than 100-130 knots, but nope, 145 kn. That is fast for a Cessna my man. :)
I literally know nothing about general aviation, but I love these videos! Wonderful narration and art style. Keep up the great work!
If you can keep these videos coming (they seem produced way ahead of time, so even if the output is slower in the future), this channel will get big big I think. If you can extend to other aircraft and potentially even other means of transport, this content and format has huge potential for massive growth I believe. Cheers, loving it so far
Thanks for the positivity!
These videos are unbelievably useful for planning my future planes
Love your videos man keep it up
Wow you just keep updating me on all the planes I am interested in. I am looking to purchase my first plane and these super easy facts to digest are very helpful. Again also very entertaining@ The best line "The doors are like a late 1980s Oldsmobile" cracked me up!
Really impressive how quickly you can pump out these videos. Keep it up!
Loving these videos! As A hobby I sometimes enjoy calculating what its like to own planes myself so its fun to see someone make a channel around it. You should do a Kodiak
I will probably never have enough money aside to buy any of these planes but I genuinely enjoy these videos and feel like I learn something new and useful after watching your videos!😉
I love these videos. Im years away from owning my own airplane but it is certainly a goal of mine. The format is perfect and inspiring
Love the videos!!!
I don't have pilot license, i don't plan to make one and i don't plan to buy any plane, yet i still got this channel recommended and i watched every video you posted
AWESOME!! I have been looking at 177RG operating costs for EVER - great breakdown!!
Back in the day when I could afford to fly, the Cardinal RG was my "go to" airplane. I loved it then, and I love it now!
Great video as always, even though I have zero plans on buying a plane. Maybe a video on the PBY Catalina?
I love this channel because it sells me the illusion of aircraft ownership.
Love your videos, can't wait for more turboprop videos!
I love your narrative on these. Awesome.
Great video! 👍 You should do a cost of ownership for a Piper Super Cub or J-3 Cub sometime.
Yea I agree I have a 73 and it's a sharp looking plane. Looks fast standing still.
Never knew this plane existed. It's really awesome with the RG. You'll definitely stand out from the crowd in this one I think.
I love these videos and dream of the day there will be a video like this
for the BD4C or the new BD4CS
I looove these videos!!! They answer all my questions
seeing some jets like the Honda HA420, Cirrus VisonJet, and Cessna Citation would be cool. Love these vids!
Love these videos and this one is like you read my mind. My short-list to buy is a C177B, C182Q, or PA-28-180. Your short and informative videos are perfect and match up to my research.
LIKED and SUBCRIBED! Keep it up!
Would love to see the Murphy line of aircraft breakdown; rebel, radical, Yukon, and moose. Great work with all the videos!!
Next video: SpaceX Falcon 9 cost of ownership
Lol yeah, or maybe Starship!
That would accually be cool
This was my favorite in the earlier Flight Simulator games.
Love these videos, keep 'em coming. Maybe add vintage Mooneys (pre-J) to your to do list....
Would love to see a vashon ranger cost breakdown. Loving these videos
Awesome content! Artwork is great, and information is super concise and informative. I binged all your videos, and I NEED MOAR! How about a top 5 cheapest planes, or some war bird COA? Or some A/B comparisons between two planes?
Keep it up!
Gosh, that was a fast response. I didn't know you were waiting specifically for me to comment. 😋
Hopefully you keep this channel going a long time! 👍
These videos are brilliant, thanks
I love this series but it will be very interesting videos in this format about flight in general.
My dad owned one with a 200HP IO-360 and it was a mixed bag. It is indeed roomy inside and those big doors are nice for ingress and egress. Even with the 200Hp engine (the most HP of any Cardinal) it always felt a tad underpowered to me. The landing gear, like most Cessna singles with retractable gear was a constant PITA to keep working correctly and the parts were capital "E" EXPENSIVE. He need a sequencing valve or something one time and it took forever to get and it cost around $5,000 for a part you could hold in the palm of your hand. I believe that Cessna had to make one as they didn't have one in stock and they charge a lot of money for parts like that. Other parts, like the big aluminum casting for the front retractable gear are something like $18,000. Basically Cessna doesn't really want to be in the light airplane business judging by their lackluster and costly product support. I finally convinced him to sell the Cardinal and buy a Van's RV8 and it has proven to be a much more reasonable machine to care for.
Great work, keep it up!
Let's keep up the Cessna series! Maybe the 206? Please?
As of 24 April 2022 you can at least double these numbers for NW Florida. 100LL is $7.45 a gallon and a Hangar at KPNS is $650 a month. Flight Line parking in the Florida Sun is $100 a month. The Waiting List is just over 3 years if at all. After 2 years of shopping for my 1st Cardinal I can safely say that the Seller's Market has cooled off quite a bit. The same birds have been online for over 6 months now and last summer it was 6 hours before a contract was on the table. AOPA Buying Service is advising to wait another 6-12 months to further let the market correct as runaway inflation and rising interest rates are starting to take their toll. Vref means everything to the Finance Folks but almost nothing to the market. Don't even get me started with Insurance Premiums. Great Video and amazing how fast market conditions have changed in 4 months. God Bless America... JP
Did you buy one yet, or are you still looking? Either way, I highly recommend joining the Cardinal Flyers Online, the type club and the world’s best resource for all things Cardinal.
@@cessna177flyer3 I joined 2 years ago and so far NADA. However, IF I should ever decide to part with the kid's inheritance it will definitely be with a RG...Flew the stick gear model and no thanks...Great Website and LOTS of good info on the Cardinal.
Love your videos! Please do the Diamond DA42.
If you dont mind me asking where do you get your data from?
love these! How about a PA-24?
Can you do a video on the cost of owning the legendary Twin Beech/Beech 18? With over 9000 produced over a 32 year span, they remain relatively easy to acquire with availability for most parts.
Love these videos
Thanks! Really enjoying your videos. Would love to see some one corporate jets, maybe the cost of owning a Gulfstream GIV.
My favorite Cessnas are the T-37, O-2, and the C-177. A baby 210 sipping fuel with crank open vent wings instead of a pop open and scare the crap out of your passengers window!
Replace the O-2 with a Cessna 195, and we’d be in 100% agreement. I’ve never flown a 195, but I have almost 1500 hours in the Tweet and about 800 in my Cardinal.
Nice video! I’d love to see a video on the Turbine Legend. Always thought it was a super cool plane with insane performance, so I’d like to learn about its economy. Would also be interesting to differentiate between the Garrett and Walter engines.
The Garrett performance is good but the Walter is kinda crap
I’d love to see a video about a zenith 701 or a few more experimental STOL style A/C
Outside of doing my initial CFI-airplane single engine in one some 45 years ago. I have not flown one since, nor do I ever have a desire to. I never did like flying the Cardinal or the RG version for that matter. Nor would I ever consider buying one. On the other hand, I would take a 182 in a heartbeat.
Interesting. Most who have flown the Cardinal (either version) have the exact opposite sentiment. Care to elaborate on what you didn’t like?
gonna like and comment so this guy can buy a plane some day
It's like Cessna's answer to the DA-40: higher speed by making it aerodynamically cleaner, instead of giving it a bigger engine. Doesn't help with the useful load, it's still a "3+ seater" for the most part. Much like the DA-40.
Surprised why there are so few of these? Seems like it ought to be better than a C-172 in just about every way without any particular downsides, other than perhaps requiring a bit different muscle memory to flare and land nicely. But same goes for the 182, and initial training doesn't happen in RG aircraft anyway.
Diamond DA42 please!
One I'd be curious seeing a video about would be the Czech L-29. I've seen a couple come up for sale for as little as 35k, so my immediate thought is "that's pretty darn low for a jet, what's the catch?" Seeing a breakdown from you on that could be quite illuminating
Dc 3 would be good to know. Also maybe a P-80 and ME-262 with its jumo 004 turbojets
Pleeeeeease do a Pietenpol... I know they vary drastically but I'd love to know what an LSA sinks you.
Please do a Zenith 750 STOL Super Duty
Please do a video about (buying) a MIG-35!
Please do a rundown on cessna 206 please😊🙃
I would love to see the costs of owning a Piper J-3 Cub.
Loving these videos, do you think you might cover some more back country planes like Zenith 750’s or Kitfox’s?
How about this: ua-cam.com/video/4jOvvDucC50/v-deo.html&ab_channel=CompleteWalkaround
He has a really good video comparing Zenith, Rans S-21, Fitfox, Highlander, and a couple other bush types planes
What if I wanted to a plz-104 wilga?
Can you do the cost of Partenavia P68?
Hi, Complete Walkaround, Can you make a video about the Carbon cub SS cost ownership? Btw love your vids 👍
“It’s like a 182 that wears sunglasses” 😂😂😂
Another big difference between the 177 vs 182 is the handling. Roll control is less truck like than any of the other 1xx series Cessnas. Weren't the stabilator handling issues confined to the early C177A's and not later production (ie C177B and C177RG)?
I flew a 1968 A model with an O-320 and it was a joy. The early stabilators got modded with the AD that became production. The bird I flew also had the Horton STOL kit on it that did even better than the 172 versions I've flown. Great airplane!
You are correct about the stabilator issues. The B model was also upgraded to the higher HP engine. The A model just wasn't that great and that's why it flopped as the intended replacement for the 172. I have my first 150 hrs in a fixed gear B model, loved it.
You are correct, the Cardinal flies differently than other 1xx series Cessnas. That was both an asset and a liability. In the training market, the responsive and light control forces lead to over-controlling by pilots who didn’t use a light touch, particularly in pitch during the flare. This resulted in some bent airplanes early on and damaged the reputation on the Cardinal, through no fault of its own. But in the hands of a competent pilot, the airplane is a joy to fly, precisely because it doesn’t “fly” like a Cessna.
PLEAAASE MORE OF THIIIIS
great video. Can you make a cost to own of a dji mini drone 2. I think it is the only thing that fly I can afford.
So great, thank you!! How about a Long-EZ?
Nice video. The 145 kts cruise is a bit high, could a 177rg owner confirm that?
I’m not an owner, rather a student pilot. Airspeeds really depend on conditions, and other things like elevation.
My fixed gear 177B has a bunch of speed mods and a Powerflow exhaust and I see cruise speeds of 130-135 KTAS (150-155 mph) between 6000-8000 feet, 75% power, burning around 10.5 GPH. My friends RG with an IO-390 sees 150 KTAS.
@@cessna177flyer3 and when you add the RG to it, I think his numbers where pretty accurate
I believe the presenter is referring to factory stock Cardinal, not one that is modded out.
@@John.Halsted fair, but I also believe he is going by best case airspeeds. Like on an ideal day
Goddamn that thing is beautiful
Could you please do war birds like the mustang or the spitfire?
How about a review of a Bellanca Citabria or Scout
Patiently waiting for the T-210.
That’s very zen of you. We’re getting there 😄
Hmm. What about the spar carry though AD?
Please do Beech 18 next!
could you also make a video about the s-1 glider?
Any chance of the Cessna Caravan? thanks. :)
"So you wanna buy a...." omg here it comes he's gonna do the thing
HEY!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS REVIEW! So the fixed gear would be about the same if not a little less because of the gear. Thank you. I'm on the hunt to purchase one now. I will let you know when I get it.
Good luck with the search!
Please do the L-65 Seabear, thanks!
Can you do an episode on the cessna 402-404
I really dont know why I watch all of these. Im NEVER going to get a plane. Id love a track car equivalent to this.
Do a spitfire next!
It would be fun to do something bonkers for April fool's, like a blimp or one of those stunt jetpack things
I have something in mind 😉
What if I want a p-40 from WW2 how much would that cost me?
Please do a DHC-2!
Prettiest Cessna ever.
I own one and mostly agree. But I think the 195 is even prettier.
do onw for the Boing 747 and or any 3rd generation fighter jet
An-2 next, please 🥺
Please do episode on Boeing 747
Please do a 180 a 185 and dhc 2
Antonov an-2 next?
Please do dr400!
MORE I NEED MORE
The doors are a real weak spot on all Cardinals and is an expensive fix when they fall apart. Worked on these and other models during a 20yr career as an AI/AP...
Just slam it harder, lol! Being long they let the kids in back easily but are hard on the hinges.
Can we get one for a BD-5 turbo prop?
Can I request the antonov an 2 for the next plane
Could you do one of the 177 and 177B?
I own a 177B. Insurance might be slightly higher than a 172 (within a couple hundred $/year). The 180 HP engine will burn slightly more fuel than the 160 HP engine in older 172s, but you are going faster in the Cardinal, so it’s a wash.
The only cessna single that isn't butt ugly
