See your knee series for main comment. Quads also an issue though knees are central. I do the quads at the same time and it definitely augments the benefit of the knee massage. Tx.
Personally , from my experience both have their own take , on the release of tension of muscles. Foam Roller surely helps a lot but Oil Massage also has it's own 😊 euphoria.

You should be able to do it without shaving. You might try it with a pair of pants and if neither works you could shave your thighs if you want to.
