David is so nice. He always says thanks for the lovely flight, even if the flight was terrible or if it was a budget airline flight. Kudos to u simplyaviation.
I just learned something new about the later model Airbus'. Upon touchdown, the ground spoilers deployed as expected. What I noticed and is new to me, is that the aileron deflected to the up position... At first I thought that the pilot may have had left aileron do to a quartering wind landing. But then I noticed that even after they slowed down to exit the runway, the aileron was still up at a speed slow enough where the wind wouldn't matter on a bird this size. That tells me, that Airbus' has incorporated the ailerons as part of the ground spoiler aerodynamic braking... Being fly-by-wire.......Ingenious!!!! Something to remember if / when I have to troubleshooting the ground spoiler system on these newer A320 series aircraft. I haven't been wrenching on these things for about 5 years now, and I will be again very soon...looking forward to it... Love working on the A320 series. I'm one of the very few aircraft mechanics in the US that has worked on the whole A320 series of aircraft, to include the A318, which Frontier was the launch customer for the airframe back in the early 2000's when I was there... They operated the only 12 A318's to ever fly in N. America. I'm proud of that...
Flying out of Orlando in few weeks. MCO-JFK-AUH-LHE and back. Orlando is my hometown. MCO has really changed over the past 20 years. I remember in 1997 it was like bus station. LOL
The compressed air over the wing squeezing the moisture out of the air was cool to see, I love it when that happens, it's like you're going super sonic!.
I was excited to see your take on Frontier. We flew round trip from Pensacola, FL to Denver, CO which was a 3-hour flight. The price was right, but I found three hours was one hour too long in those seats. They became real uncomfortable at the end, and yes, the tray tables were laughable. But for a family of four, the cost was a big factor and I would fly with them again (although only for shorter distances).
I flew Frontier on two trips (2011 & 2012) before they became an ultra low cost carrier, back when they still operated a hub and spoke network from Denver and Milwaukee (and Trenton?). The one thing I remember very well is the seat on the A320s...it was the most uncomfortable plane seat I've ever experienced. On the 4? hour flight between Denver and Tampa, my tail bone started to ache after just a couple hours and I had to keep shifting my weight in the seat to try to feel comfortable.
Did you hear that terminal 1 might be adding outdoor boarding for Frontier since they want to have the capability to board at 2 doors? In addition to the 3+ gates with jet bridges that will be built in future at terminal 1
I went to Mexico back in July. I flew Delta there and Frontier on the way back. I love Delta but I gotta say, the Frontier staff was a lot more friendly, flight attendants were extremely personable and friendly, and the overall experience was better than my Delta flight.
I actually do the same when I travel to Europe -- get the printed boarding pass, and download it electronically on my phone, and then use the phone's boarding pass. Saves the hassle of taking it out of your bag especially when you keep it with your passport through the security checks.
If you encounter an employee to drop off bags, check-in or whatever, they will print a boarding pass for you automatically, whether you want it or not. I always have my boarding pass on my phone and it’s such a waste of paper for them to automatically print another boarding pass. But that’s the system.
Holy shit you just flew my favorite airline and future employer! Thank you so much for making this dream come true. Frontier is the best ULCC in the US and I’m so happy you flew them :) One thing you have to remember...this is a ULCC not Emirates. You can’t expect first class. I find it so frustrating how many people fly F9 and give bad reviews because “there was no meal” like what did you expect? $57 and a free meal? Not even big airlines do that let along a ULCC.
Nice trip report! I always enjoy going into MCO, mostly because of the theme parks. :P I've done two to/from trip reports of MCO. Hoping they finish the new terminals soon.
I fly on this fairly frequently transcon, red eye. It's ok. I'm only 5'9" tall so leg room is adequate. I do hear, spirit is upping the game with new seats, regular tray table, more leg room and wider middle seat so we'll see how frontier responds.
Jim Eadie they are also making the seat foam in the backrests thicker and space the full width instead of a lousy little lump in the middle. So your shoulder blades, ribs, and tailbone won’t be touching hard plastic anymore.
There are hundreds of videos of Emirates flights. A unique flight from Orlando would be one of the Silver Airways flights intrastate. Or even better, try one of the flights to Central or South America. I don't think Simply Aviation has done any flights in that region. Would be nice to see one of the LATAM to Sao Paulo or Lima, GOL, Copa, Avianca, or some of the Caribbean airlines.
Back around 2000, Frontier was actually a cut above Southwest: you had reserved seats, a warm pretzel, and A32x-class aircraft with seats a scoonch bigger than the B737. They were a great little airline. After they were acquired by the Republic Group, they changed many aspects of their operations such as moving from the hub-and-spoke model and moving away from being a LCC to ULCC. Today, they are no better than Spirit, and I wouldn't take them unless it was the only way to reach a destination. I definitely wouldn't want to fly on their aircraft for anything longer than a 90-minute trip.
I would respectfully say that Spirit has the better reputation compared to Frontier. Spirit has a better on time rating, a more managable route betwork, and better maintenance. Just my 2 cents. Most carrier rankings put spirit ahead by a slight margin.
Found it uncomfortable audio sound on A318-A321 series about the noise startes at the 2:34. APU maybe? Anyway always a lovely to see disembarking passengers go thru the same hall where the waiting passenger will board the aircraft from 😁
Yes, I have been waiting so long for a tripreport of Frontier Airlines on this channel. I even have a photo on my PC of this exact plane, when I was in Philadelphia this year and went for some planespotting. :D Were the crew members asking for a tip? Because I read/heard from some other guy that they are doing this when you buy something.
Basic transportation, suitable for short trips. Those seats sure didn't look like they'd be comfortable for more than an hour or two, and the legroom was poor. Not great from my point of view, but you got there safely.
Perhaps Frontier should get seats with memory foam like Spirit is doing. Those seats will have full tray tables even though they’ll have the same 28 inch pitch
I once had to sit on a concrete bench for 6hrs. Ironically enough, I'd take that over the experience I had on a 90min Frontier flight ✈️ w/those seats, ha.

HoMaster Zerg well to be honest here in Europe Ryanair (flights from 2€) has one of the largest legroom - even more then Lufthansa. You also get very new and comfortable planes when you fly easyJet. So yeah the European LCC are rather good.
David is so nice. He always says thanks for the lovely flight, even if the flight was terrible or if it was a budget airline flight. Kudos to u simplyaviation.
I love how you could be walking out of a plane wreck and would still thank the flight attendants for the lovely flight.
