David Fincher's attention to detail has made him my all time favorite director. I look back at at films like Fight Club'-'Panic Room' Zodiac' 'The Social Network...The guy is a genius.
He never claimed that women were not abused in Sweden. He claimed that women are abused to a lesser extent in Sweden than in many other parts of the world. That's totally true. Go to large parts of Africa, Asia and South America and you'll see abuse beyond anything any European woman can even imagine. It's all relative.
Go! Sweden is gorgeous, like all the Nordic nations. It's *_so_* unlike America; it's different......in every way. Probably has a great deal to do with the utter *_lack_* of religion. Sweden is one of the most atheistic nations on earth...and, not surprisingly, one of the most ethical and intelligent nations on earth. It's no coincidence. Religion *_rots_* human beings.
Here's something fun and quirky. Ray Winstone worked with John Malkovich in "Ripley's Game" which was a sequel To The Talented Mr. Ripley written by Patricia Highsmith while Rooney Mara played Therese Belivet in "Carol" based on The Price Of Salt. Cate Blanchett on the other hand played Meredith Randall in The Talented Mr. Ripley with Jude Law who played Dickie and of course Rooney Mara worked with Jude Law in Side Effects.
THe movie is about men who "hate" women---who rape and murder them and get away with it from high-ranking socio-political institutions protecting them and their sex trafficking circuits. You are all missing the point. It's also about Nazis. You turn it into a kind of public urinal saying that "people are fascinated with the underbelly" when this film is about top political leaders, but the story goes all the way through various levels of society in turn. It also involves huge financial institutions. You are all diverting the entire point of the story. That is why I can only watch the original Swedish version.
I really like Fincher's movies, but I found in this case sweden original better. Mostly because misunderstood main character. I mean Rooney plays well, but character in this film seems more cool and sexy then it should be . She didn't seems like that girl with trauma and lot of problems. She looks like punk but she is not.
Really? I thought Rooney did an amazing job. She comes across as equally fragile and damaged....and....strong and resilient. Maybe I'm just biased because I saw Fincher's version first, but looking at each movie as objectively as I can....I prefer Fincher's movie. But, I still love the original.
"I think people are perverts". Amen!
min 1:45 Stares admonishingly at the camera.... LOL!!!!

50 x better than the de vinci code....1000 times better than harry fucking potter...they may have sold more books...but this film is epic
