Great presentation. I also have been using a jitterbug since I could cast a lure on my own. My Dad had me use the jitter bug because you can see it and it doesn't get hung up and it catches fish!!! I started using it again in the past couple of years after getting away from it for quite a while. It still produces. I agree, it is great during the dog days when the morning has some mist and the water is like glass!!!! I caught my PB SM on Bob's lake in Ontario at Dusk on a black jitter bug.
That and the Hula Popper were my dad's go-to topwater baits. Nice to see someone else with great memories of their dad fishing those time-tested lures.
Another great video that really shows your experience. In the early 80s, myself and a friend who was a fisheries biologist and bass specialist, would wait for the full moon and fish all night. The lure of choice was a black musky bug. Half of the time we couldn't even see the lure, but the sound was amazing. We caught so many bass that way and it set me on a lifelong course to pursue bass with top water lures. Its THE most exciting way to catch bass in my humble opinion.
I just put split rings on the hooks and leave the old hardware. I never change the baits design but the split rings allow the hooks to move more freely.
Ha, good question. I remember the ones I bought from Janns Netcraft were a bit small so I used some from home depot. Not sure what size they are. If I figure that out, I will respond again. Most important thing is to glue them in when inserting.

Absolutely!
I have been using the Jitterbug and Hula Popper since I was a young kid in the early 70's and they are still go to's for me.
Yep they have stood the test of time!
@@fishden365 I got my 1st 5 pounder on a Jitterbug.
Thanks for the video, the jitterbug is often overlooked.
I agree
Great presentation. Well done! Enjoy everything from the history to the customizations.
Thank you kindly!

I completely agree. There is not a more fun way to catch em than on topwater!
Thanks for sharing!
You bet!
the jitterbug is one of my favorites love to just cast one out and listen to the gurgle of it coming across the water .thanks for sharing.
Me too Victor, especially at night or early morning.

Love the jitterbug. You should do a video on the Heddon Crazy Crawler as well. Also a good nighttime top water for big fish.
Great suggestion! I will get to the crazy crawler eventually.
I like a black one at night for smallmouth
Absolutely, they like it too!. Thanks.
@@fishden365 I commented too early. That was a fine oral imitation of the sound it makes . You floored me with that
I have been making that noise for a long time, ha!
Caught my biggest smallmouth on the jitterbug !!
A few people here have stated the same thing!
Nice video. May I ask what size screw eye??
