Ah...I played the heck out of Quidditch World Cup on the Gamecube when I was younger. It was easily one of my favorite games. I remember putting in so many hours trying to beat the various Cups with each and every team~ I even played the GBA version when I went out on road trips~ They were both really fun~
I feel like the video title should have been "Quidditch through the ages" since that's a book in the books. I forget if it was a gift or just something Hermione read but still, seemed fitting
I was expecting QWC to be kind of a FIFA, what a letdown 20 years ago. Also it doesn't have Ireland, the freaking WORLD CHAMPION TEAM ISN'T IN THE GAME.
My hot take is that I don’t think any game has really captured the break-neck speed and razor tight maneuvering of broomstick flying, at least the ones I’ve played
I do enjoy Quidditch Champions, but it honestly lacks the charm that World Cup had, the commentary and crowd ambience on Champions is not as good as World Cup. I appreciate the modernised controls of Champions, but it feels almost soulless in comparison. Maybe it's just nostalgia talking but I play World Cup and get way more immersed in the game than I do with Champions. It's still fun though, but it's missing that oomph.
The original PC version of Quidditch World Cup was genuinely incredible, a very very good game. I’m not a huge fan of how the new Quidditch game plays. It just doesn’t feel right.
AI is brain dead in that game, thats my biggest issue. Best AI could do in max difficulty was get a few combo passes flling up snitch meter and hopefully stalling enough for the snitch seeker duel to be the deciding factor, but even max diff AI struggles to prevent the player from reaching a 150 point difference, that effectively prevents a loss.
Great video as always Flandrew. I always loved the PS1 version games. I would buy the new game but I think that it should have been included in the Hogwarts Legacy version and I think a standalone game is just a rip-off.
How did u get the spider man web pf shadows games working? Especially recording them. And spider man shattered dimensions SPECIFICALLY for DS is awesome TRUST!
In the Chamber of Secrets to PS2 or Gamecube, have mini quidditch Champions like PS1? I always wanted to play in PS2 when I was a kid, but I did have the console if have i would like to play in emulation
If you Remember Finding Flandrew at 4 in the Morning, In your Phone, and can finds him in your PC then your Watching Flandrew, But Which one? as they are two Flandrew channels.
It seems they were constantly cutting back on Quidditch so that it could have its own series of games but never capitalised on it. So frustrating as even with Hogwarts Legacy they could be basically printing money by making more games.
I feel like in Hogwarts Legacy the devolopers couldn't figure out how to properly incorporate your OC into an established team. Do they already have 7 members and you kick one out? Are all teams missing a seeker? Or are all teams missing 4 players, one for each position? I feel like an easy cop out is each team is missing a specific role, Hufflepuff needs a Keeper, Gryfindor needs a seeker, Ravenclaw needs a beater, and Slytherin needs a chaser.
It's just too much to consider and develop, especially since a full game was gonna be released. There isn't a good way to integrate it into HL, especially since you'd be limited to one position. Sure, you could split different roles into different teams, but then, you'd never really end up playing quidditch much as a Hufflepuff for example because you'd get bored of constantly sitting there, doing nothing 70% of the time, and you already have a balance problem in the design. And even if you could choose a position, besides keeper, seeker and beater would feel pretty disconnected from the rest of the match because of the nature of the roles. Chaser might have worked, but then we come back to the fact that it's still an RPG and already pre-established systems like this are sometimes difficult to balance out in RPGs, but you do need to balance them out, you can't just think "Eh, everyone's just gonna play chaser anyway, it doesn't matter if the other 3 feel boring/disconnected". I understand a lot of people saw "AAA Harry Potter open-world RPG" and thought quidditch would be cool, but the sport isn't exactly ideal and I think they made the right choice not going for it. Or at the very least, this is one of the smaller issues that the game has.
@@Fleepwn it still could be implemented better than the actual game they released. Why are there only 6 players instead of 7? Where's the second beater? Why are the matches so short, and the points so low? Why is the snitch so devalued? (I understand balance but I feel like if the games were to 150, with the snitch being to 50, it'd be better). Why is the snitch not available immediately from the start? (I know it's another probable balance, but majority of matches two snitches are caught anyways, which is still dumb).
I hope the hogwarts legacy sequel has quidditch, and I hope it goes beyond what we've played prior. For example I hope there's story moments or scripted events where the game is rigged by someone like lots of Harry's matches throughout the series. Bludgers on a rampage, broomsticks going haywire, lightning strikes, etc. Just to make it a different experience
It's sad the order of the Phoenix game had no quidditch, because it's the one book that has the best match, the one where griffindor catches the snitch and still loose the game because Ron Sucks as a guardian
To be fair even JK herself kinda memed on how unbalanced the original rules were, I don’t think it was originally supposed to be anything more than a plot device with some worldbuilding In Goblet of Fire she writes that the longest game went for 3 months straight because one team was good at scoring but couldn’t catch the snitch and the other team was the opposite so the game was at a stalemate because the losing team didn’t want to catch the snitch until they would win from it; resulting in them just agreeing to end it since it’d gone for months and they were all sleeping/playing in shifts. While it would be nice to have an optional “classic” ruleset available in the new game for single player; it HAD to be balanced to be viable for online play
It's an impractical rule. It completely invalidates chasers and keepers and just gives beaters the biggest incentive to bludgeon seekers into a coma. It turns a 14-player team sports game into a 2-player obstacle racecourse.
Honestly I did think it was funny that the video game Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets video game on GameCube gave you that freedom to have harry help grifindor win the quidditch cup one year before it happened in the books by jk Rowling.
This new game is not so good. I much liked Qudditch World Cup. They had special moves, team moves, and more action on the field with combo passes and more. The new one is made without love. I buyed it but I don't like it too much.
Quidditch World Cup is still a pretty special game for me played it a ton as a kid and in my opinion still the best Quidditch out of all games, even better than champions.
Its a shame that Quidditch didnt make it into Hogwarts Legacy. Considering all the blunders and bafoonery going on within that company, nothing surprises me anymore.
I grew up with the pc games. Philosophers stone and quidditch world cup were so much fun to play with quidditch, the one thing I enjoyed the most about the PS is that the flying mechanics were for the most part free roam as long as you stayed in the area, I would prolong the match for so long just so I could fly around
About Quidditch champions: Making the game need online for singleplayer career mode is bs. Stop forcing online in games where it doesn't belong! Maybe if it was free to play then fine. But it's not. this is a full priced game. Even getting a physical copy. Stupid design choice!!😡
The developers looked at Superman 64 and said “Boy we know what we’re doing tonight.”
I remember around 2004 I was at a flea market in Miami and some lady had the nerve to be selling Superman 64 for $30 😂

The Quidditch tutorial in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on ps1 has such fantastic music.
My favourite quidditch was in the PS1 games, particularly CoS for the improved play control and framerate.
Absolutely yes.
Flandrew is always something to look forward too on Sunday’s 🥇
I love how in depth you go, showing every version released. Great video.
I cant believe their a Agrid ps1 mask in the new game 😂😂😂
RIP Minerva McGonagall 🖤
Your intros are already legendary, man. I really like your content.
Love the videos! Mayhaps do a video on some more Indiana Jones games. Infernal Machine would be a good one. Keep up the awesome work!
I love your comparison videos. Please never stop making them. Even when you are 100 years old, I'll need my Flandrew comparison fix.
My favorite is Quidditch World Cup for original Xbox. So many fond memories ❤

I love this video. All of the Quiddich is fun especially in the first 3 Harry Potter games across consoles and the Game Boy Color and Advance version.
Yay new flandrew. This will help distract from the void that yells for me to succumb. Love your content
Your forgot gba connection and the lego creator harry potter quidditch quest
What do you mean "gba connection"?
Do a video of the Batman Arkham Games!
That will be awesome to see

I liked the most the Quidditch in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets PC, even if it was toned down, still a great experience.
I was expecting QWC to be kind of a FIFA, what a letdown 20 years ago.
Also it doesn't have Ireland, the freaking WORLD CHAMPION TEAM ISN'T IN THE GAME.

@@blackknight4152 that might be true, I don’t remember that. The actual mechanics of the game WERE better.
@@Hack_The_Planet_ Thats for sure man, its the best quidditch game.
I was really salty there was no quittage gameplay in Legacy, but with how fun quittage champions has been it was worth the wait.

Quidditch Champions is really fun! If you liked World Cup, please try it out!
You forgot to mention Quidditch from harry potter for Kinect
I'd love to see a video on Chronicles of Narnia games!
Dude I play world cup so much as a kid a have a ps2 copy that I gotten a few years back to play with my spouse name it was so nostalgic to play again
Can you do a video about db sparking zero when it will come out please?
I feel like I remember playing a flash game version of quidditch on an early Harry Potter website round about the time of the second movie.
If we ever get antigravity technology, someone desperately needs to make quidditch real.
How did u get the spider man web pf shadows games working? Especially recording them. And spider man shattered dimensions SPECIFICALLY for DS is awesome TRUST!
Quidditch Champions is so much fun yall need to try it
I loved Quiddich World Cup...but I have nightmares featuring the sound of flying through hoops in PS1 Philosopher's Stone as the timer ticks down...
I personally really like Quidditch Champions, it's exactly what I wanted as a kid lol
I really like QC but i really wish they add the special moves from WC at least on a separate game mode or something
In the Chamber of Secrets to PS2 or Gamecube, have mini quidditch Champions like PS1?

Isn't Hogwarts supposed to be in Scotland? If the moon's out it's only 3pm in winter
I'm pretty impressed by GBA's 3rd person version. I thought I just had connection problems and my video quality just dropped at first.
It seems they were constantly cutting back on Quidditch so that it could have its own series of games but never capitalised on it. So frustrating as even with Hogwarts Legacy they could be basically printing money by making more games.
GBA Chamber of Secrets was one of the less annoying Quidditch levels, I never played the PS versions but they always look very painful to get through

You should do a video on Hogwarts mystery.
McGonagall is indeed there for this shit, given she's an ex player herself!

Being honest, playing Quidditch with Hogwarts Legacy broom controls sounds like a nightmare. They need to improve that if they are to add it in.
It's blasphemy the golden snitch should always end the game
To be fair even JK herself kinda memed on how unbalanced the original rules were, I don’t think it was originally supposed to be anything more than a plot device with some worldbuilding
