Amazing to think what they went on to accomplish after this.......double Olympic champions, double World Cup final winners, European champions and WEG champions.....holders of all 3 records at Grand Prix level. One of the things I am thankful for was getting to see these two dance their way to Gold in London to this very music, and to also be there for Valegro's retirement at Olympia was a truly special way to round off what was a magnificent career. They were the world beaters, the world's best. And best of all they were BRITISH 🇬🇧🏇🏅
I was there and it had the feeling of dressage history in the making. Yes it wasn't completely foot perfect (it was a dress rehearsal after all) but the harmony and extraordinary talent was unquestionable.
This is out of this world! How I got the opportunity to work with Carl and charlotte and groom for them at hicksted was insane! Well done charlotte! Well deserved!!!! Breathe taking!
Absolutely stunning. And so nice to see a freestyle worthy of some of the same fabulous music as chosen by Dr. Reiner Klimke for his competition freestyle with Biotop in Los Angeles in 1995. And what a piaffe! Certainly don't get to see that type of quality too often. And reading that Charlotte Dujardin has worked her way up fair and square, and hasn't necessarily come up in big money, makes it all the more special. They truly are so inspiring!
Wow! Performances like that are very rare these days. His tail was quiet even during the tempi changes. And his hind feet were actually active in the piaffe and in the quarter pirrouette in piaffe, not just 'stepping from one foot to the next'
OMG we have tickets for the Olympics and can't wait...we are travelling over from Zeeland where Valegro was born to support this wonderful Dutch warm blood and his wonderful rider...come on team GB!!!
Horses are better dancers than most nightclubbers out there. This made me tear up all the way through. Excellent choice of music, it fit Valegro's pace perfectly. Beautiful strides. Very discreet leg movements in rider. I'm so glad that these two won the gold medal. Both are inspirations to me. Well done Charlotte and Valegro!!
Incredibly beautiful. So light and free on the forehand. A tiny bit in front of the bit, but a head set SO much better than I've seen any grand prix level horse in many, many years. Hoping others see this and consider giving up that nasty style of forcing dropped noses and arched crests. This is as close to correct as I've seen in a while! Notice the bit at or above level with the hip, and the neck flexed at the POLL. It shows in his free forehand, impulsion, and the scores of the judges!
I liked the ending when she released her horse and all of a sudden his personality came out, where was it in the program? I don't think the horse liked the music. It just looked like he was going through the motions...it's nice seeing some sitting at the piaffe that was nice to see. it's nice seeing the horse's poll starting to be the highest point too.
I'm from Germany, but what can I say....the british team is outstanding, charlotte and carl my favourite riders to watch. They show how important a bond with your team mate is where as the german dressage riders are just a big embaressment for the sport, even a case for the rspca(Tortillas). I cross all my fingers to see britian doing well at the Olympics, that's how professional dressage should look like :)
I disagree... This horse is flawless, and still only 9 or 10! If he can score 90% with 'mistakes' as you say, then heaven above what he'll be scoring when those mistakes are ironed out. Outstanding performance and spine tingling! Makes me proud to be British!
Brilliant effort - all of you out there being negative about this performance should go out and do it yourselves then I might take your criticisms seriously, until then shut up cause you haven't a bloody clue what you are looking at . Rock On team GB - Germany and Holland are not the only competitors on the planet where dressage is concerned - be sporting about it - it's just nasty and jealous to be otherwise .
Helen Langehanenberg, Ingrid Klimke und Uta Gräf sind aber absolut feine Reiterund keine "Schande" für den deutschen Dressursport. Isabell Wert, M.A. Rath und Co natürlich schon.. ;)
the brits are the only competitors fpr german team... (the oranjes don't ride dressage they just LDR ;) ) looking forward to olympia !! :) Greets from germany :D
I totally agree go girl for wearing a proper helmet and setting my daughters a good example. Anyone who knocks this girls riding must blind all the greats recognise her perfect riding, she looks like she does nothing, yet you cant ride a horse and get a performance like that! Unless you are one of the best.
Very nice horse and well executed - but not a 90+%. The music/choreography sequences were disjointed and it was not as creative as a 90+% performance would recommend. Coming from the viewpoint of both a supportive spectator and someone who has had experience with the creative process and competitions of freestyles, it appears to me that the judges were generous. Sentiments are high for a British duo to do well at the Olympics in London.
it made me feel tearful - how horse and rider are in such harmony! ... the choreography and the music was a tad predictable although the music choice patriotic!
its such a shame valegro and utopia have been sold to spain :( apparently they go straight after the olympics and dont even get to go home with carl and charlotte!
Amazing stuff, but the music is terrible. Maybe its just me but i find it very disjointed. Each sections matches the horse beautifully, granted, but it just jumps from element to element with no flow or connection. Personally, I like the music to at least have a common theme or at least be similar in style.
Check the breeding and come back with a less moronic comment! The horse is Dutch...Carl and Charlottes horses are treated like horses, enjoy variety in their schooling and get turned out in fields give me that any day!! Too much knee action pah hahaha I guess you don't like Totilas either!? Do you like daisy cutting show ponies by any chance!!??? Haha UA-cam Olympic standard dressage judge LOL
Oh silly hat, about to go off cross country, such a pedestrian silhouette. Im not sure about the score but then I was at the Olympics in Hong Kong (Beijing) and I saw much worse taking gold so maybe it's the season for silly scores. If you rewind rapidly to the very beginning you will see a very muddled start, did she want to walk, trot, or passage cause she did a bit of all before settling for a mediocre passage. Im not convinced overall, good horse bad rider? Terrible music. Extended trot 100%.

amazing! such free flowing movements, fluid transitions and the horse seems to be floating!! stunning rider, horse and performance.
I was there and it had the feeling of dressage history in the making. Yes it wasn't completely foot perfect (it was a dress rehearsal after all) but the harmony and extraordinary talent was unquestionable.
that was amazing, amazing!!! My absolut fav in Olympia!!
This is out of this world! How I got the opportunity to work with Carl and charlotte and groom for them at hicksted was insane! Well done charlotte! Well deserved!!!! Breathe taking!
thats was AMAZING, Some of my favourite classical pieces in there. Can't wait for the olympic dressage!! :D

Bring tears to my eyes! True perfection and wonderful music! Wish I was there for these Olympics. Think GB will do magnificently well! Well Done!

AMAZING no other word for it

LOVE the chimes with the pirouettes!!
You weren't the judge, so I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself!! FLAWLESS and such an incredible partnership!!! Well done both!!!
trot work just fantastic - bloody brilliant x

Wow! What else to say?!!
That was worth an olympic medal.
Fantastic!!
wonderful to see, perfect.
thank you sooooooooooooooo much!!!!
Why should Totilas be a case for the rspca? (just curious) I agree with you 100% about the british team aswell :)
Bloody Fantastic, loved it... Well Done Charlotte Dujardin...
Incredible...
Well said!!
We best get shown every bit of every Equestrian Games at the Olympics. Can't wait!
wow.....Damon Hill or Valegro?? Both performances were outstanding this sunday! Good luck to both of them at the games to come....
She's amazing *-*
Can be a winning pair!

Wow, They Are the Whole package.
Valegro is magnificent but what impressed me most was Charlotte's beautiful riding.
shut up and enjoy the hard work that was put into this!
wow that was fab
Roll on the olympics! fantastic!
Congrats Charlotte good luck in the Olympics
fingers crossed for you.
Somebody knows the titles of the music???? thanks

What an awesome combination. I think they might just take out the gold. Here's hoping!!
Charlotte and Valegro are so amazing! But, who knows the music af 3.33?
My Life Is Complete
Part of the middle section from Live and Let Die :)

all British music. What minute and second?
I agree with your sentiment exactly
proud to be British!:-)

1:24 ... what is the musíc?
Pavel Fornál Leave and Let Die, Paul McCartney.
90% isn't perfect. It's very good, and Charlotte and Valegro are Very Good.
the brits are the only competitors fpr german team... (the oranjes don't ride dressage they just LDR ;) ) looking forward to olympia !! :) Greets from germany :D
I think I will have to take a very large box of tissues on the day . Go team G.B

I do you hope what you say is truth, and you arent spreading maliscious rumours!
Nice Kür, but too many mistakes for a 90+ score.
I'd say this score was far too high.
its such a shame valegro and utopia have been sold to spain :( apparently they go straight after the olympics and dont even get to go home with carl and charlotte!

the music is just terrible! and my entire life has been involved in music. Completely annoying.
