  • One of Dad's best friends showed up today with his 1959 Narrow Gauge Bombardier. He wanted Dad to give a quick once over look see and it all checked out. Great example of just seeing a Bombardier "In the Wild" and being used for recreation. The customer has 1959 Narrow Gauge with a 305 engine 4 barrel V8. Beautiful machine with a very quiet cab.
Armand Bombardier from Valcourt, Quebec nailed a design that became a template for mechanized snow travel. His first product was a wood enclosed vehicle with tracks in the back and skis in the front that carried seven people. He began selling his B-7 in 1937.
Through the war he was involved in making equipment for the war effort but in 1942 he produced a production model of the B-12. The B-12 was made of metal but followed the same design as the B-7 and he also built larger 18 passenger B-18 versions. Though they could be painted any color the standard production model was a shade of yellow not unlike the color of school buses and for the same reason, visibility. Later they were used in the winters all over the north by Natural Resources, as ambulances, school buses, mail delivery and bus/taxi operators.

This one has been gone through from front to back and rebuilt. In this condition about 70 grand I suspect. It isn't ours and the owner is not looking to sell anytime soon, but there is always a price that lets it go.

@@dadsrepairshop thats a pretty penny ! Thanks for info . Pretty rare machines. These used to be used in northern quebec when my grand parents were alive to take people from point a to point b in winter.

Welcome to the channel! In Western Canada no one pronounces it that way. We pronounce it "Bom-ba-deer".

Then you’re pronouncing it incorrectly. 😂 I kid
