I've been watching all these vocal coaches critiquing Tyler and every single one of them gets to a point where they stop critiquing and just enjoying watching because Tyler is that fun to watch.
me too! its amazing and partially annoying all at once! haha, i wanna hear the critiques or what he's doing well way more often but all of Tyler's react/critique videos just turn into a sublime sonic session. And im okay with that lol.
to be honest, he had many better live vocals than those. Car radio at iheart music awards, ukulele versions of tear in my heart where he says its the cutest version ever, super fast rapping fall away (with dr. bloom on the trumpet, they put this performance here but cut off the best part!), mutemath sessions (heathens, hds), ride live idk where (some awards night i guess) but Tyler just killed this "i've been thinking too much" part and was so happy when it turned out good (L O V E). Also stressed out live, this one performance which is on their Blurryface vinyl - CAN WE TALK ABOUT IT? IT WAS PURE GOLD. Go and listen to it NOW. He is such an amazing artist and inspiration, i love everything about his music and him as a person and singer.
My heart just melted. Ughhh!!! I so excited, I’m seeing them live for the first time in February next year. I’ve been a huge fan for 3 years now and I’m so happy the hiatus ended
Thank you sm:3 He's really amazing, but he has much better performances, whoever made the video was just probably shook by his voice and put his regular performances as the best)
Can you please react to Gerard Way's best live vocals or (if someone ever makes a video) maybe Dallon Weekes' best live vocals? (he was the bassist for Panic! At The Disco and now he's in a two-piece band called I Don't Know How But They Found Me)
Right I asked a few to like tristen and he just keeps doing the same people OVER AND OVER AND OMG it's annoying. I'm not subscribed but he's always somewhere in my face
The original video isn't the best for example in the performance of Ride Tyler was really really sick and all the old videos are not bad per-se but the newer ones are definitely better since Tyler only got vocal lessons after signing with Fueled By Ramen. Also the rap thing. I don't know if we should call the fast spoken verses and sometimes bridges in songs written by Tyler Joseph rap. Tyler started "rapping" because he had too much to say to be able to sing it. And when he realized he was "rapping" he stopped doing that, he cut down his verses to be able to sing them. It took his brother convincing him that he thought it was cool to try it. Tyler isn't rapping, Tyler is performing spoken word poetry to music. It isn't about the flow or how many syllables he can rhyme it's about the message. And Tyler was afraid the message would get lost if he would rap because then people would only obsess over flow and rhyme and sadly he was correct And no, you're uncleans should not be pure emotion as Melissa Cross (leading vocal coach for Metal and Punk including Hardcore) would tell you immediately. Because if you put all your emotions in your unlean singing you will be really tense and you will most likely hurt your voice. Also Tyler's uncleans are lacking a bit of strength which okay since Josh was the first person to introduce Tyler to Punk and alternative music. But if you put Tyler against Pat Flyn from Have Heart or just Tobi Duncan from Trash Boat you'd see that he's just lacking the history with those vocal techniques
TheArkhamOranges and that's why genre is so limiting because people have to put everything in boxes. The thing is if you see the spoken word parts as raps you're missing the point that Tyler is trying to make so they can't be classed as rap since regarding it as such distorts the listener's perspective into something undesired by the artist
Aj? First off I'm not a twenty one pilots "stan" I simply enjoy their music. And I'm not demonizing rap but Tyler himself said that what he's doing isn't rap. So why not respect the artist and stop trying to put everything in boxes?
i’ve been waiting for a vocal coach to react to him cause i know he’s such an amazing singer & songwriter. i love that you acknowledged how amazing his writing is ahh tysm (also sorry for all those annoying fans who freak out about not spelling twenty one pilots out lmao)
Awesome video! I love hearing about great artists from a professional perspective. I love Tyler’s voice but I didn’t know enough about music to know exactly why before. I would like to see you react to more of his better performances though, as others have said I don’t really think these were his absolute best
I love how he’s genuinely interested in tyler and his lyrics as well and not just critiquing his voice. Other people will react and only listen to the most popular ones but I love how this video did a deep dive. Enjoyed this a lot, thank you for appreciating them fully
Holy crap!! When he commented on heavydirtysoul for the first time, it freaked me out because his voice a lot louder than Tyler’s and I didn’t expect that.

Might want to check out Royal Blood, another two-piece band made oof a bassist (and singer) and a drummer. Now, they make different music than ty and josh, it's heavier, a lot heavier, and the singer doesnt have the vocal range or clarity (not sure how to describe it, it's just arguably overall not as good) as tyler. The only reason why I'm suggesting (besides that i really like them) is that the singer's voice is quite peculiar and interesting with the instrumental they play, most people would probably instinctively say the vvoice doesn't fit the music at all, but it really has something to it and I don't know what it is.
