Hi Joël- those rims look fantastic. Funnily enough I am going the other way back to original rims having bought my wagon with a very beat up set of wolf rims. One of the reasons was to ensure I was happy with the wheel nuts- because the wolf rims are thicker there is less contact. Keep the videos up please. Your channel was one of my main inspirations when I bought my Series 3 back in the Summer. Thank you!
Hi Charlie, thanks for your message. Interesting to hear you are switching back, I totally get that. I really like the original look and the lack of ‘purchase’ on those studs does worry me a little. My main reason was to go with tubeless radial tyres. I was hoping for a more comfortable drive. But to be fair it hasn’t changed much.... glad you got the Landy. They are such fun to work on.
The new wheels look good Joel.Makes it look more like a road vehicle than a farm truck.I have been looking for paint for my swb s3,and got 5ltr of satin bronze green from Arc Right here in the UK.Straight out the tin,it's dry in 1/2 hour, and foam rollers on nice and flat and easy, giving a better finish than you would expect.I'm very pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone.Ideal for those of us who don't have a spray booth set up.Keep up the good work
Love the rims Joe and I am so happy you are putting going with the correct side panels for the vehicle. I cannot wait to see them installed and painted. Thank you for the videos, I look forward for the new episode every week :)
dave jules new the set is around a grand. I was lucky but have got a lot of good deals on ebaykleinanzeigen. I think it only exists in Germany and is a mini version of normal ebay...
Hi Piers, well done on getting through them all. I try and do an episode every week, but work and family life often ‘gets in the way’ 🙂 I am in Austria at the moment until tomorrow evening so will make every effort to put a video together by the end of the week. But rest assured, if not by then it will be very soon. 👍
Looks really good with the new rims and tyres, although it looked pretty good before. Did the paint flake when you tightened the wheel nuts? What tyre pressures did you settle on please? Cheers from New Zealand.
Hi Glen, thanks for getting in touch. That video is one of the most popular ones surprisingly. I also love the look but really like the original rims too. I think I will do a video at some point putting the old rims back on for fun. Just to see what it looks like fully original. Have a good weekend. Joël Ps, the paint didn’t flake and I’m running 35psi.
Hi, firstly well done on a great restoration. Regarding these tyres - are they suitable to be used with tubes? I need to get new tyres for my 109" Series 3 Station Wagon - the rims are the original type that need tubes. Thanks!
Hi Chris, I am not 100% sure about that but I have seen people on Instagram fitting modern radial tyres to classic rims. And they use a tube. I think a forum is the best place to check.
hi! what paint did you use and did you mix it with a thinner before spraying it on? if so what mix ratio did you use? very helpfull video ! thanks alott!
Hi, I used the paint from Paddock Spares. Was pretty good. I guess I added between 5-10% thinners. Just did it by feel. Sometimes I put a bit too much in and you will see that when you paint. It just runs straight away. 👍
@@My911 you're welcome. The part number is FRC7577. They are pricey but essential (IMHO). I've seen a lot of Landies with these wheels on and standard studs which always makes me wince. It wouldn't surprise me if insurance companies would use it as an excuse to void a claim!
Hi, I am a bit biased because I always wanted the 235’s. I haven’t been on the open road really (still no MOT) but around the grounds near me they seem more than OK. The tread picks up stones but that’s usual. The pros far outweigh the cons and they give a better ride overall. More cushioning due to the size. Radial Vs the old cross ply. I had worried about reduced turning circle but it’s fine. No rubbing on the chassis. Steamwally runs the exact same set up as me. So he may also have an opinion.
hi love the rims look great limestone do you know the offset of them as there are two types O and +20 mm thanks pal keep up the good work its keeped me inspired
Hi Tommy, that’s a good question but I am not sure. They are called Defender Wolf rims so maybe google knows. They are definitely deeper than the standard 109“ rims I had on there before.

Nice job!! Looks lovely!!
Thanks Cory, your project seems to be making strides too! Great stuff.
My911 thank you!! It’s nice to have something accomplished. I like the tacked stance of your rig. Tough!! 😀

You really should fit the longer Wolf wheel studs otherwise the wheel nut threads don't fully engage
Hi Thomas, thanks for this. I wasn’t aware they existed. I will look into it because you are right. There’s not enough thread.

Hi Joel, hope you’re well. Do the 235/85s make the steering heavier and now you’ve run them for a while, any other issues to report?

Are the studs long enough for the Wolfs?
No, not really…. 😐
Steamwally has done a video on the extended studs required for the Wolfs. I need to do the same really.

I'm a bloody idiot for selling my old Series 3 SWB. Replaced it with a TD5 Discovery 2. What a mistake!!
