"Raised right" - reflexively, and possibly intended, it is a compliment. However...
The underlying "inspiration" for that saying carries a mixed insinuation. Namely - it implies someone representing not only "exceptional"...but also subliminally suggests someone personifies what is the root term for "exceptional" which is "exception." And, in the context in which it is typically invoked - and it is almost if not unilaterally expressed linked with cultural context of the African (American) community - the "exception" implies not only "randomness" but also "rarity."
There is such sensationalization of problem issues that occur in the African (American) community...especially in the media and social media...it is easy to slip into perceptions that those stories of, say, "non-exceptional" African (American) kids doing "non-exceptional" things represents the polar opposite of being "exceptional"...as in being - "typical."
Which is a trope - much like, sorry to say, the implied antithesis of the "Raised right" aphorism propels - that is both false (and often...employed by those who would articulate it to subliminally suggest that the "exceptional" "exception" "who was raised right" to be, among other things, respectful is the "typical" that society is conditioned to - "expect."
I can't even tell you how much I have enjoyed following Jude's story since being on TKCS the 1st time. Kelly, the whole team, Jason and his wife are such a blessing to have mentored this talented young man. To see his growth as a musician is incredible and I do believe Jude is the only guest that has actually gotten Jason up there on TKCS couch in front of the camera and to see Jason who is a bit shy himself get out of his comfort zone to support and help Jude is so inspiring. I really do think this is helping Jason just as much as it is helping Jude.

Jason you are a wonderful human, very authentic and genuine. We need more Jason’s! It is a meaningful gift to spread knowledge and kindness. Jude will carry what you have taught him for a lifetime and share what he has learned. This past year I lost my what I refer to as my “Jason” and will never forget all the wonderful things she taught me. I leave you with two messages she taught me (1) Help as many people as you can and (2) Do everything to the best of your ability. My God continue to bless all of you. I have to also say Jude has amazing parents.

SECOND, VERY OFF TOPIC... But with Kelly's love for her children and other mothers as well as her will to help others, I think Kelly should interview Jo Frost a.k.a Supernanny. Jo's empathy for children is beyond words, the work she produces is incredible. The definition of a "life-changer" and she continues to put in effort after 3 decades. It would be a great segment at least for Rad Humans or a #THISISWHATIMLIKING. Like if you agree!

This child is filled with GOD given talent! His parents are doing a great job with him. Kudos to Kelly for showcasing him and to Jason for mentoring him. He's nurturing his talent, but you can also see how much he cares for Jude. It warmed my heart that when Jude's dad was sharing that Jason has basically gifted Jude with a studio, Jason was gesturing with his hands as if he didn't really want that mentioned. Not that he was mad that it was mentioned or that he wanted any acknowledgment , but that he did it because that was what was in his heart to do. Need more people like this group all around.
