That's totally true. That's what made the difference. He picked himself up & fought back (a truly courageous act). The fact that the other BSB supported him just made it all the more heartwarming/shows that they are more than a band. They're a family.
I'm really proud of him and the rest of the boys. Even though he once strayed from his path. He picked himself up and stood on his own feet. Also, I'm proud of the boys. Other bands would have left or disbanded as soon as controversies like this happens but I love how instead, they stayed by his side and accepted him in their arms again. BSB are indeed a family. That's why i'm still a BSB fan. Now and forevermore.
I couldn't be prouder of this man he was always someone I was drawn to as a child and even now. He is such an inspiration. I love you Aj stay clean stay amazing and I know you will!
It's ironic how his lastname is "Mc"CLEAN". NOW HE IS CLEAN!!!! This aired in December 2003, I remember watching it. Such a tear-jerker. But glad he's been sober (even though he's had minor relapses in 2011 and 2012). Its been about 12 years now! LOVE U AJ!!!!!!!
I remember soon after the announcement of his addiction and the cancellation of the Black & Blue concert in Inglewood, CA at The Forum, I was so furious at AJ, but most of all, hurt more than ever. Not only did I saw how it affected his band mates and the fans, that concert would of been my first BSB concert EVER! My mom surprised me with 2 tickets for my sweet 16 bday and we unfortunately had to refund it. I literally cried for weeks! God honest truth.
I remember when I heard the news and it was heart because I love BSB and with AJ being my favorite it was extra sad that a guy with so much talent was on the verge of losing it all it was sweet of the rest of BSB showing their support I been very proud of AJ that it 2015 and he is making sure he is living his life happy and healthy
I agree w/ so many of these posts. AJ is incredibly courageous to undertake this/going public w/ his problem out of respect for his fans/now uses his experience to help others who are dealing w/ the same demons. He maybe a celebrity, but he is still human & has to deal w/ the same problems many people deal w/ everyday. This just makes me respect him so much more & I'm so happy he & his wife are expecting a baby!!! Good luck, AJ.
When I was younger I seriously couldn't stand AJ, mainly because he stood out due to his bad boy image - and I HATE bad boys - so when I first heard about his drug issues, my first reaction was "Why am I not surprised?". Having seen this inteview with Oprah, I realise that he's not a bad person at all - in fact several people have confirmed that he is actually the sweetest person they know - he just made some bad choices. I also follow him on Twitter and I can tell that he's a good father to his little girl. I'm so glad he's kicking his demons (There were a few relapses, but thank God he got through them), and I'm so glad he's sharing his story, although I disagree with what he said about addictive personality...it does exist. Nevertheless, thank you AJ for teaching me that we should never judge a book by its cover, and I'm so proud of you, but most importantly you should be proud of yourself. x
He wasn't my favorite either, but I figured if the guys wanted to be around him, there had to be something special about him. And sure enough, he's a wonderful person. Just troubled. His struggles broke my heart.

Jeesh, what an improvement. He looks happy and healthy nowadays and dropped the bad boy image in favor of the goofy father-figure image.
I'm an even bigger fan now because of this.

Im happy hes sober! but people drugs and booze are easy to get sucked into hollywood almost promotes it.
