I was lucky enough to work with Gina Cigna in Milano. She was so wonderful, a very good Maestra with a great heart! She taught me with a simple and effective pedagogy the real technique of the belcanto... By accompanying me on piano! She was a very great Turandot with 500 perfomances ! and she was so proud to show me her trophy. Very nice memory !
I’ve been so lucky to get GINA CIGNA as Teacher when I studied Singing at Teatro alla Scala of Milano : she was older the 75 but her WONDERFULL VOICE was still perfect !! And I also had the possibility to attend Performances of TURANDOT with both the greatest Women after Gina CIGNA : Birgitt NILSSON and Ghena DIMITROVA ....... later, after those Greates Ones ..... NOTHING , the DESERT !!! It is better to stay Home instead to get to the Theaters , to listen only BARKING DOGS !!! Unfortunately all of them are passed away ! MAY GOD BLESS CIGNA, NILSSON and DIMITROVA !!!
Gina’s CIGNA has been the greatest TURANDOT !!!!!!! Ghena was lucky to get such a great Teacher .... unfortunately nowadays there are not such amazing Teachers anymore !!!
