    The Mountain Man by Wolfshead.
The way that you wander is the way that you choose,
The day that you tarry is the day that you lose.
Sunshine or thunder, a man will always wonder,
    Where the fair wind blows.
Scenes taken from the movie "Jeremiah Johnson" (1972) featuring Robert Redford.
The music is by Vangelis, called "Prelude", from the album "Voices" (1995).

I grew up in the rugged mountains of West Virginia. Hunting, fishing and camping. Loved camping in the cold snow and hunting deer. No tent, just a good bag or bed roll, a fire and canvas tarp. Good times. I think the good Lord he let me grow up in those mountain.

To me this is the most beautiful video I have ever seen.My late husband comes to mind when I see this as he was an avid hunter and dangerously liked to hunt alone.I realy think had we not been married he would have lived as this mountain man did.
I cry every time I watch this and thank you for putting such a wonderful piece of beauty together,,,as if just for me. He died of cancer 4 years ago and I know he watches this with me.

I grew up in the eastern mountains of Washington State next to one of the local tribes. To me this clip reminds me of many aspects of my childhood, horses, mountains, alone, nature, snow. I was taken away by the Army after high school and spent 4 years on the East coast. I returned to the mountains for a short period but as fate would have it opportunity laid elsewhere. The rugged and rough lands of West Texas has laid claim to me for the last 25 years with so much as one handful of short visits to the mountains. My soul is left in those mountains and many times I escape into the inter sanctuary of my mind and relive these moments, wondering what could have been. I am a mountain man. My heart is in the mountains. Not a day passes that they aren’t calling me home.

Jeremiah Johnson made his way into the mountains
Bettin' on forgettin' all the troubles that he knew
The trail was wide and narrow
And the eagle or the sparrow
Showed the path he was to follow as they flew.
    A mountain man's a lonely man
And he leaves a life behind
It ought to have been different, but oftimes you will find,
That the story doesn't always go that way you had in mind.
    Jeremiah's story was that kind. . .

That scene with the mounted Crow chieftain at the creek I alway thought was so powerful. From the muzzle end of the Crow's gun you can see it's an old side by side combination rifle - the shotgun barrel contrasting so perfectly from the rifle bore. It grabs your attention even in that almost heart stopping moment.

Called a Cape gun. I’m sure they were made by a lot of smiths at that time.
