Amazing review and I love the fact that you had a real world experience that many of us could have went through after buying into this system which hopefully will be corrected moving forward
Wow, that's an impressive unit. I was surprised at how quiet it was when it was hovering. Watching you push it around it looked like an angry alien insect coming back to its station. Will be interested to see a full review between the Mini 2 a V-Copter, maybe even between the A2S and V-Copter
Hi, is there any information on where we can have this drone repaired? I have tried their website, and there is no information or protocol to ship to a particular address for repair. I am outside the warranty, but I just want to have the broken arm on both drones repaired. Please, I would appreciate any information about the repair department for this company.
Wow, I'm impressed with its horizon lock during all the force you inflicted on it. Can't wait to learn more of this drone company. Just ordered my insta360 rstwin and see what it can do on my Zoom. This maybe on my list eventually.
I kind of like that shape? Looks great, especially the video? I think the video looks awesome. It's not cool crashing a drone, especially when they're expensive. Either way, thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍
Thanks, I’ve been anxiously waiting for this 1st flight video. Anyone else waiting to get theirs? I completed my order on Oct. 30 - last month - and I’m still waiting for some kind of ship date.
I think since the drone is tilted so far down the obstacle avoidance doesn't actually work when flying forward. They should have fish-eye from obstacle avoidance.
2 things are very apparent after watching this. We are spoiled and make assumptions about this and other drones based on other products we have flown or owned. More so considering the assumptions made about obstacle avoidance and follow mode. Zero also provide us with a little inside information about follow mode and that it doesn’t need obstacle avoidance to work, which means other manufacturers that don’t provide the feature is purposely blocking it from the software because they can.
Darn it! Hate to see that. I’m the guy that’s going to buy it just because it’s a V-Copter. Something different to fly besides Mavics. I hope you get it replaced soon.
Looks good. But doesn't look very stable though... The video feed stable is the result of camera gimbal. 4 motor drone still seems offer better stability...
Love your very informative videos Aldryn! Sorry to hear about the V-Coptr mishap. Looking forward to your full review! Also, I was listening to KSAN LIndbergh Field Intl towers on LiveATC this afternoon at about 2:30pm PST and heard a Delta(?) pilot advise ATC that a drone was seen off his right wing at 2,500 feet just north of the approach path near waypoint REEBO, which is really close - East of Lindbergh field. Unfortunately, these sightings are being reported more frequently within controlled airspace around major airports. If we as a community don't continue to acknowledge this seemingly growing and dangerous, negligent and criminal behavior the majority of our law-abiding, non-Part 107 community will be relegated to an RC field and manufacturers will decide hobbyist are not worth the expense, time and effort. Unfortunately, not new news, but worth repeating as a PSA.
Hey Aldryn, I heard about your mishap from a little bird🤪. I have to say the VCopter is a sweet new addition to the drone market. Hopefully they’ll have some excellent upgrades coming in December. It’s a shame these drone manufacturers don’t get thing right before releasing just like the Mavic 3 with so many items not working as advertised. I hope they send your a replacement to do a full test of their drone. I hope you had a wonderful time at SPINUP, I truly enjoyed your presentation! Thank You!
To vcopter owners.......make sure that when you open the arms ......the lock buttons click .......because during the flight if you move the arms the vcopter crashes ( happened to a friend while he was "braking" in sport ....... but luckily nothing happened because he fell into the soft)
This drone had so much potential. The more videos I see about this drone the more disappointing it is. I really do like the two prop design. That long release delay really hurt this bird. Still wouldn’t mind mess around with one.
I just want to say I love your channel. Obviously you're from North America. None of your channels are like the European channels which have boohoo boohoo I just lost signal or anything like that that's stupid with DJI products. Lot of the other channels I tried to explain to them it's because where you live. Awesome keep it up
All things are not equal. 4 motors have 4 sets of bearings in them. Each set of bearings has its own drag/friction addition. Removing 2 motors would suggest you have removed 50% of the bearing/motor friction. But that has yet to be proven on this new little bird.
@@weldersandblaster The bearings are probably less than 1% of the total drag... 50% of 1% is 1/2%. The big aerodynamic gains come from 2 rotors instead of 4 rotors... 2 rotors making the same thrust will likely have a larger diameter... along the lines of a longer wing on a sailplane being more efficient than the average wings of a cessna...
Aldrin, thanks for the review. It's too bad the object avoidance doesn't work when you'd probably want it the most - I think SkyDio set the bar with OA in the follow me mode, and everyone else needs to play catch-up. On an aside, what are all those light blue objects dotting the hillside at 7:14 ?
Looks like someone would have mentioned the NFZ lock out with this drone! It mandates the NFZ in the software and has no place for using a LAANC to fly in authorized controlled air space. In fact the only thing the drone will do when it hits a NFZ is land or fall out of the sky. I contacted the company sales and was told that there are no changes planned and it is what it is. This drone is over priced with little or no updated software for those who actually fly drones.
It looks like it’s unique selling point - it’s bird shape, is also it’s weak point. Pretty sure my Air 2S wouldn’t break an arm that easily just falling down from a tree. At least I would hope not.
Interesting that you compare this to the mini2, which doesn't have Obstacles Avoidance (I don't use prompts to help me fly) ... I think you assumed it has a "follow my footsteps" in the video. This is PURELY pilot error.
That hover is not stable...it's constantly jerking and twitching. Must be wind. Its visible on that screen too. Btw Bluadio drone has 5x better avoidance than this V. And 2x cheaper. Strange to NOT work in follow. That's the vital part
They may have potential, but I think the fact you need to compare it to a drone that is half the cost and with better features says something. Perhaps this is still just a prototype for something better??
Uhh the walk of shame 17:07 Yeah, it hurts and its never easy, but dont worry about it, you will get over it and get out the other side, but its very important you talk with your friends and your family in the weeks after.. put words on your feelings.. it is so importanr if you have experienced a tragedy / trauma, that you talk with people about it, and mainly the people who are close to you, and who knows you, those are the one you shall lean on. You need to understand, I do this for a living.
It is different, I like that part. didn't look that stable but i'm use to my air2 so there's that. would love to see a smaller version, 249g would be the shit. still cool though and I don't think anything bad about it cause of the crash. trees love to grab drones, not like they have a lot to do so swatting drones out of the sky is probably fun for them. I like the bird look, I could see it being mistaken for one real easy. people wouldn't know what to bitch about cause they probably couldn't figure out it's a drone. That being said... They're going to have to do better though being it's at the air 2s F/M bundle price IMO. function over looks for me. anything in that price range needs to avoid stuff while tracking and the other upgrades you mentioned. If it was mini 2 price i'd buy it the way it is, maybe air 2 price even. But it'll get better and if it had camera options (1" sensor) it could get well worth the/a higher price.
I would blame V-Copter development. In my opinion, it is obvious that OmniFollow should activate obstacle avoidance by default, and have an option to manually disable it.
@@Make-Asylums-Great-Again Bet you know , I roll with a lot of the DJI guys in China here and they got a lot more crazy stuff to show . The V coptr wouldn’t be a bad toy to have tough but on a more business and practically view point , I’ll put my lady dollar on dji .
Bummer! Don't you hate it when the crash could have been avoided with a simple annotation on the app that obstacle avoidance is disabled? Still a little pricey for what you get so you're right ... you're basically paying for the unique form factor.
My wife saw you holding it in your hand and said, "That's an ugly drone." I said, "that's because it's busted." "Oh, that explains it." 🤣 She commented that it was much nicer looking in flight.
I'm really surprised obstacle avoidance is not enabled during OMNI follow mode and even shocked it doesn't have any intelligent avoidance. I say that because I have their extremely rare Hover 2 that really never made it to market in quantity but is of even older design or at least same time-period and that has avoidance with something akin to APAS 1.0 in OMNI follow. Been on the fence on this drone not so much for camera or flight intelligence but for it's cool factor and time aloft and the price has come down.
As much as we try to make drones easy for ANYONE to fly,we need to ask ourselves...should EVERYONE fly? Check your safety systems BEFORE every flight and you will catch things before they happen. We need to put thought and control back into our hands and stop relying on systems.
Well done video as usual Ostacio, But my Question would be, Did you pay $1200 BUCKS FOR THAT? i hope they sent it to you for review.I'm Sure That was your first mistake. But what do i know i'm a rookie. I really hope you got a new one with insurance, or send it back busted.. Looking forward to more videos. ty 4 sharing

It's not dummy proof. Lol. So you will remember next time. You should do another video with the obstacles avoidance next time if you can. 😉 Maybe they can do a quick update.
At the end of the day it's still user error, regardless if it has automation or not. Doesn't help that you also disabled obstacle avoidance 🤦 People forget, you are supposed to be in control of the vehicle at all times. Sucks that it crashed and maybe software was not right there, but we have to keep remembering it's the pilot in command who is supposed to be in control at all times.
The V-Copter, video looks quite good. As you say, no shakes in the video, and the color looked good.
From what I have seen so far it already looks miles ahead of the hubsan lineup and other small drones. Looks solid, something to build on

Great review, this looks like a good platform. Price is a little stout.

Wats the cheapest way to ship a drone with lithium batteries at a cheaper rate worldwide and wat service should I use
how do you contact zerozero robotics did ever get a chance to speak with them.

The left and the light side of the video is blurred. Do you get a deffected/unset camera, or all the vcopters is like that?
However still no updates regarding the Hover 2 Kickstarter campaign…
Well it doesnt crash very well.. I had my dji p3 fall further than that onto rocks and was good to take off again.
I've been having difficulty reaching their support. I've emailed them several times with no response. Have they responded to you in a timely fashion?

For the most part OBSTACLE AVOIDANCE is a crutch on gps camera drones. Kinda like HEADLESS MODE back in the day of toy quadcopters.
