Thanks so much Jodi for your reply, I just read this out to my husband and you have really put our minds at rest. We are not going until May but booking will be completed tomorrow. Also we wondered about the food? We like to try new things but did anyone on your your tour get food poisoning?. As I always say this can happen anywhere as 2 years ago we stayed in a 5 star resort in Greece and I got a serious bout of food poisoning. I was sick for 4 days. We only eat at the resort and would expect more from 5 star. Others were also ill we found out later. My husband wonders should we pre book the excursions or do it locally? I am so excited now about this trip now. Thanks again for your help it really is much appreciated. Carrie and John Mullane ❤
Hi Jodi - great video! Very comprehensive. We are thinking of doing this trip with our family in May. I've read some negative comments about G travel especially regarding canceled trips, refunds, customer service etc. How was your experience?
We went pre-COVID and nothing went wrong, so didn’t have any issues. We plan to book with them again and some of our friends from that trip have been using them this past year and no problems. Our guide, Kim, was fantastic and he solved so many little problems, took great care of us on the trip. Travel is still a bit risky - but I think this is a good company.
Hi Jodi, thanks for sharing your experience in Vietnam and Cambodia. Myself and my husband are booking this exact tour tomorrow and I have a couple of questions. We are 58 and 63 years old. Not in bad shape but not super fit either. Do we need a high level of fitness for this trip. We have never toured in a group before. How did you find the sleeper train? We tried to request paying extra for a private room but were told we can't. Don't know how we feel about sharing a small room with 2 strangers??? We're the hotels okay? I have got the names of what they say are example hotels and they all look nice but why example?? Will they not be the same when we arrive? How was all the bus journeys? Were you exhausted? I'm sorry but these are all the questions we have been asking ourselves. We love the idea of doing this journey but are asking ourselves are we going to be wrecked all the time. Long haul flights, jetlag and lots of travelling. We are used to spending days in an are usually and going at our own pace but the group does appeal to us along with having it all arranged by the tour guide. Your experience on this would be much appreciated and of course your advice. We are from Ireland and have travelled everywhere but have never been to Aisa before. Thanks so much ❤❤
Hello - I just typed out a response but it doesn’t seem to have gone through - so trying again and apologies if you get this twice. We loved this tour and we are using G Adventures again for a trip to India/Nepal in December. We were 55/68 when we went. There were some others our age in the group, and it was a nice mix of ages and also couples and singles, different nationalities. You will be tired - there is lots to see and do every day. Not strenuous but you are walking a lot. There are times you can stay back and relax - but that is hard to do because FOMO. Hotels were very nice - no worries there. Sleeper train was better than expected. They supply individually wrapped bedding and it was clean and modern. We bought liners but not really needed. You will be with someone from your group so not really strangers. We were in with the youngest couple and became good friends after our time together. There is lots of travelling by private vans/bus - but all well coordinated by your guide and a good chance to rest up for the new destination. I hope you will love this trip. It was a wonderful way to see Vietnam and Cambodia.
Also if you don't mind me asking. Did you bring full size suitcases? If so how did you manage? I'm sorry if I am bothering you but I am so happy ti have someone to ask 2hi has been I guess it's mostly shorts and tee shirts and one or two dresses for evening wear and a couple of shirts for hubby?
@@imagination914 we took a carry on size suitcase and clothes for warm weather with layers for early morning/evenings. There were some places where you could get laundry done overnight and we took advantage of those. Your guide can help with any of that. No one got sick on our trip. Most eating places will be recommended or selected by the guide (we ate as a group many times) and there are so many opportunities to try new food. Don’t be worried.
Different experience is waiting for you and Halong bay is the best
