You’re a really great teacher. I’ve been trying to understand this for a while now and this is the first time I’ve been able to grasp it. Thank you so much!
You are so right Jenny, I guess it kinda does. I love making graphghans, and as you mentioned, you have a canvas, you paint by number, and then you crochet the colors. It's so cool! Thanks so much for watching and for your nice comment.
Thanks you so much for this tutorial! I’ve been wondering how people do this kind of crochet and your videos were very easy to understand. Thank you :)
You're so welcome Justine. I made these videos because when I was starting to graphghan, I couldn't find any videos that actually showed you who to do it. I decided to make one that would be helpful for other crocheters. Glad it was helpful! Happy Crocheting!
You are absolutely awesome!! I had a question about the chaining part. I didn't know if I needed to change colors in the chain. I tried that and it just didn't work! Lol. I am so glad I found your video!!!!
Niler, I love this. I bought a crocheted item with my last name as a doily. I am most certain now, that it was made using this graphing. I love to crochet as much as sewing. I'm going to give this a try. Dee
What caught my eye was the pandas loving each other and how the piece looked the same on both sides. I have done crochet with a graph but started each row on the same side. Can you point out to me where I can find panda graphs.
You could just google panda pictures and you should be able to find it. I chose this one from a children's bible study video called "The Miracle Of Life". Go to JW.org and in the search box type in that title and you'll see the panda bears. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and for asking.
This tutorial helped me understand but everytime I work it up if I add 2 stitches at the end it does not work. Makes an extra stitch I don't need my colors are also not lining up😞
No, card stock is too flimsy. Now, if you want to fold several pieces of cardstock together to make it thick, then you could use it. I hope this is helpful...Happy Crocheting!
I'm having such a hard time with these graphgans. I seem to be carrying the yarn properly.. but I'm still seeing some of the other color and it's driving me crazy.
@@NilerTaylor-relindesigns It kind of shows behind a bit on the new color.. Maybe I'm being too fussy about it? I keep trying and then get fed up.. yours looks so good.
So it’s ONLY in single crochet? I want to do double, but it comes out long and thin. The picture I mean. Please help. I’ve been asking around. Nobody seems to know. I do know how to do the work, it’s just do I need to double on the double crochet to get the effect. Then I’m scared I might miss one, since it’s not one the graph. Help🌹
Don't be scared...you are a crochet designer. Go for what you think. There are really no rules, you crochet whatever and however YOU want for YOUR project. If you want to try double crochet, I would suggest that you do a sample first. Just remember that your project is going to be twice the size. You got me curious...I might try double crochet...I'll let you know how it turns out. My advice...GO FOR IT! Happy Crocheting!
Great question. I tuck it and crochet over it. I try to do that with all my tails, if possible, if not, I go back with the crochet needle and sew them so that they are hidden inside. Hope this was helpful for you.
I'll try. Remember, every time there is a color change, you will need a new bobbin, even if there is a color between the same color, you will need two bobbins for the color on each side of the color that is between them. What I like to do is make as many bobbins as I can of each color. (more for the dominant color). I always like to keep empty bobbins so when I see a color running out, I'll make new bobbins ready to go.
Ellen Hage I also have long tails. Not that long but long. I save all the cut off Tails because I do amigurmi dolls and left overs can be use them to stuff the dolls.

You're very welcome!
This video (and your other ones) has been so helpful and has made working on a graphgan much less intimidating.
I like your videos and with the rain & thunder in the background. It wasn't distracting at all

would cardstock be ok to use if you don't have cardboard atm to make the bobbins?

@@kerryb751 When you start a new color, do you put the old color yarn to the back or the front, or do you cut it?
@@NilerTaylor-relindesigns I put it to the back.
But I've tried front too depending on how I'm working next

Quick question the tail for the first green does it stay sticking out once you add the teal again or do you continue to tuck or crochet on it

How do I get started in a graphghan to make a graph for the eagle football logo I need help to do a pattern
Check out my step by step instructions on how to get started.

Can you help me with a pattern I have? I need to know how many bobbins to make of each color.
I'll try. Niler Taylor I will send you a massage on Facebook.
Ok so how do you make the pattern bigger
The larger the number of pixels, the larger the project. You have to increase the width squares as well as the length squares.
Is there a reason why you have a really long tail?
Ellen Hage
I also have long tails. Not that long but long. I save all the cut off Tails because I do amigurmi dolls and left overs can be use them to stuff the dolls.
Yes, I like to weave my tails into my work.
Cool!!!!
