Owned a 2011 Elise for nearly several years now. OH bought an Elan m100 S2 a couple of years ago, which I took for an MOT and service last week. Loved driving it! It gives nigh on as much sporty fun pleasure without the 'full on' experience of the Elise. And that turbo is mischievous in the way it delivers power so deceptively yet enjoyably. All in all, utterly engaging. I enjoyed the video, thanks, and of course we can get out and about again now for sanity reasons!
Glad you enjoyed the video Mark. I use to own a 2002 Elise Race Tech, loved it and still miss it. You’re right about the S2. It’s a more comfortable prospect and has its own performance characteristics that make it equally engaging.
Alllllways loved the Elan from this period for it's combination of truly good looks, manageable size, (reportedly awesome) front wheel drive handling and practicality (for challenging winter driving conditions).
Yes indeed... love Love LOVE IT!
👍🏾👌🏾👊🏾
Nice video, glad you are enjoying your Elan. Had one for 25 years and still look forward to taking it for a drive!
Woow....looks like a great car.
I love smaller sportscars. Myself im driving a Slk 320.
Great video and interesting to hear your personal view of the Elan and your reasons for buying one. I always loved this car as a kid. As your in Leicestershire I assume your aware of the Market Harborough to Melton Mowbray run? I used to pick up half of that on my way back from Uppingham to Nottingham when I worked in Uppingham for a brief time. Awesome bit of road.
Yes that’s a good bit of road. I want to do some of the Peak District roads too as they’re awesome.
Great video. I bought an Elan m100 last year and cannot wait to get it out and have a drive.
Great video. I’m coming from an MX5 looking for a suitable replacement but something not as prone to rusting away from under me. What should I look out for on an old elan?
I would say that as with most cars you need to look underneath, but this is particularly true with the M100 as on the surface (GRP) everything can look fine. Check for rot on the backbone chassis (normally not a problem as it’s galvanised so rot could mean it’s been damaged) but in particular on the outriggers and around the sills and edges of the floor (pull back the carpets if you can). The condition of the rear wishbones is important as these can be expensive to replace and are a rust weak spot. Engine wise they fairly strong but do need an oil change every 3-5k miles, so some owners might have missed that as it’s sooner than most modern cars. Cosmetically, make sure the rear lights are ok as these are expensive/really hard to find! Hope that helps.
С праздником 👍 👍 👍
Great car would love to drive one
I can whole heartedly recommend it. Don’t listen to the front wheel drive naysayers 😀
FWD is so much better than RWD

What Lotus garage do you use ?
@@paulgilliatt7829 yeah, there’s not been that much, brakes, exhaust, coolant temp sensor, thermostat, lambda sensor, all quite simple stuff.
@@paulgilliatt7829 Yes, that too. It was only to cable that needed changing and then re-swaging, didn’t have to rebuild the motor or anything like that.
You coulnd drive on ghe street? Why?! 😮
It was because you were not allowed to make unnecessary journeys during the pandemic 😷
I went to Tesco for the essential shopping last week . Put 8 miles on my Elan . Happy day .
The boot was more than big enough , and put a smile on a few people in the queue that went down the carpark , a full trolley load no less .
Lotus , thinking ahead , made a part of the boot floor on the left hand side a perfect cubbyhole for an 18 tin Stella Artois box.
Great work Rob 👍👍 That deeper section in the boot on the left hand side has come in useful many a time 😎
