  • One of the most asked questions I get is, where's Sean?
Well he's back but having such a long break made him go a little nuts on camera, so you might want to cover your kids ears on this one. Lol. The good news is, even if you're not a fan of tanks, you might still enjoy this like me...or not.
It's time to look into this bad boy and I can confirm this is probably our #1 seller right now. It might be sold out already, so if you didn't manage to get it, just wait more will come back in stock.
Also, I will be back with Sean sooner than you think.
Sit back enjoy this #panlos #tank #maus You might even need a drink during this talk.

That turret took a couple tries to seat the roof on but once it was on it felt really sturdy. I was really amazed at Panlos's quality of the parts and the instructions. This was my first major non-LEGO set and I absolutely loved putting it together.

Noah! That was fast. I’m glad you got it and it helps being newer. Their older tanks are ok too but some could be a hit and miss but overall it’s great to see brand stepping up their game. Glad you loved putting it together cause I did too.

Fun fact, the prototype stages of the Panzer VIII Maus, were first, the Vk 100. 01 (Porsche) and second, the Mauschen (Little mouse). There were also a few variants of other super-heavy tanks. The Vk 72. 01 (Krupp) and E100. Both carried larger guns, a 15, cm cannon, which was stronger than the Maus, 128mm cannon.

To be honest, we all know, and most General Staff Officers of Germany, knew that the Maus wasn't good in most scenarios. It was vulnerable to bombing, sluggish, having a 188 ton weight, and had a large silhouette for aircraft. However, Hitler saw this tank as a mobile fortification, and a ram to batter through enemy defenses, which is what makes this tank shine, along with it's monstrous size. The Maus turret had a 260-310 mm frontal face, the sides coming at 241 mm, and the turret rear at 216 mm. Its front armor, was very impressive, coming around 200 mm thick. It was sloped at an angle, increasing it's relative armor to nearly 340 mm thick! The sides of the tank, were 185 mm thick, and the rear coming at 200 mm. This tank could withstand (to my knowledge) any tanks cannon in the war. Even the Soviet's IS-2, with the 122 mm cannon, only had 175 mm of penetration, only missing 5 mm of penetration, but still failing to penetrate the armor. The Maus was definitely, a champion in the armor profile.

Even russian lovers cuz its an important point in history and its still a good tank (if it be to keep it and the germans didnt destroy this beast) IT would have some modern things but on side 200MMS armor thats alot. And finally a german tank that doesnt get easly destroyed from the back( german tanks had problems whit back armor where the engine was but the maus had the engine centered) sad it was desrtoyed (fuel problem)

Great video, but personally I would rather get the Maus from the brand Cobi. Cobi doesn't have any details on the inside (just black pieces) and their mini figures look weird. But if you build one of their sets the only thing that will break is the brick separator, in case you ever try to disassemble their sets.
I do like it that you get printed pieces in this set, but at the same time I don't like the look of the damaged panels unprinted pieces on those spots would have made the tank a whole lot better.

Some of what Sean said is true and some of it is wrong, but it good try. The first thing is the name, I couldn't find anything about the name "Fanny" even in various UA-cam videos too, the two names that do come up is the name "Mammoth" and "Maus" but the name Fanny could be forgotten or not documented. He is correct about the person that created it. There was a wooden mock up presented to Hitler on the first of May in 1943. V1 was a turretless test vehicle in December 1943 with a wooden turret as the real design for the weight, then in June 1944 it a real gun for firing tests.
V2 was delivered in March 1944, with a production turret a diesel engine. Both tanks NEVER saw action in the war. But both prototypes were at the Kummersdorf testing facility in 1945, v2 was sent to Gronsdorf (I don't know if that's correct spelling for that) to protect the army High command bunker complex from the fast approaching red army, by having it parked outside the Maybach one bunker. It was blown up before the Soviets could capture it. V1 was destroyed, except it wasn't as bad as the destruction of V2.
However, engineers of the red army decided to assemble one tank from the two wrecks. That part of them trying to do it was difficult since the turret weighed so much, and it required 6 captured German 18-ton Pharmo Half-tracks to pull the turret from the wreck. V1's turret did weigh 55 tons. But it later arrived in the Soviet Union in 1946, but it didn't have any significance for anything else. It's at the Kubinka tank museum, as Mark Felton says at the end of his video telling about this tank quote "it's enduring monument to how not design and tanks" end quote. But to answer the question of the back part of the turret, that is where the ammunition will be stored as said on world of tank's channel. More rounds were stored in the hull near under the turret that's what those other ones were showing. Not really propellant for the rounds. The barrel on the back is the fuel tank holding 420 liters of fuel.
So I do want to thank Mark Felton for providing the information I used.
I liked what he said about the weapons and I learned that German didn't get credit for the the automatic firing weapon before the AK-47 was put out. While lost in confusion on why was there a sword included. I also didn't know about a Japanese man in a German uniform either thanks for that. So there was somethings I didn't know either.
That's my knowledge about the Maus tank, enjoy.

@@whitebison66 I didn't know it was a joke, I can't really tell what's a joke or an insult apart, that's for me to tell. But yeah I couldn't find anything about that name other than trying to translate it from Russian but it wasn't able to translate it properly. So I don't know what it says.
Oh I had that part wrong, I thought he was Japanese since Japan was fighting in the war. But I had it wrong, I forgot he was Chinese instead. Just a mix up that's all.
This is the first time I got a comment from a guest on Scottie's channel since I started watching it. So thank you.

Actually not too bad. Other tank tracks are smaller which seems more of a pain in the ass. These being big weren’t too bad.
