I love the skirt pattern for the green fabric . I also had a hoodie pattern from Vicky Sews and was just about t 4:32 o cut the fabric and took a quick look at the pattern and thought oh no this is too complicated and I didn’t need the stress ! So. I made the Toaster sweater into a dress and I love it .just waiting for the cold weather to wear it

By the way, if you haven’t had you colors done and know your color season, run, don’t walk and have it done. I love summer colors and had a large wardrobe of muted, lined wool slacks, blazers, skirts, dresses, and jumpers. Oh, the time! Oh, the cost! I’m a winter. Once I started getting tons of compliments and realized how much better I looked, I gave everything away. Get your colors done first.

Where are you finding thrifted fabric? The local Salvation Army in my area quit carrying fabric, such a bummer! Great shares!

Hi Lisa! Oh that's def a bummer. We have a really good Salvation Army in my area. Goodwill in certain areas is ok, but can def be hit or miss. Recently tried Savers as well and it's just $$$ for what it is. Def open to any recos for new thrift spots!

This was so fun to watch! It reminded me of the excitement I felt discovering everything when I first started sewing. :)
I was super tempted to get the Blair skirt but already have way too many plans on my Fall sewing list haha. So I'm really looking forward to seeing how yours turns out! That trench coat fabric that you scored would look lovely in a Blair as well. I have a Tilly and the Buttons Ness skirt made out of a bull denim that is in that beige color, and it goes with everything.
The sewing culture over in the UK/Europe is really so different than it is here in the US. I'm lucky that the sewing studio we have in town does monthly sewcials, and I've gone to the frocktails for our state (Arizona) as well. Not familiar with what kinds of sewcials are available in the New England area, but I'm sure there must be something similar!

Oh wow, tysm @einahpets! I'm working on the blair and fingers crossed a sewalong now. Hoping to drop it next week!
Yeah, I know right. I'm jealous of the sewing community in the UK/Europe, but maybe I just haven't found the local sewing scene yet? That's what I'm hoping anyway. The frocktails and sewcials in AZ sound like so much fun. I'm hoping someone comments that we have something similar in New England.
Also, have to look up TATB ness, haven't seen that one yet! Thanks for the reco!

Hi. I'm Zelda. I didn't hear you say your name so I'm not sure what your name is. I love meeting other people who sew and I like to support them... so I have subscribed. 😅
Don't forget to go in your "About" page and put information about yourself so we can get to know you. My channel is called Zelda, Sews and that's what I love to do! Welcome to your first Friday Sews! I have a local copy shop that does printing. I was curious about PDF plotting and how much it costs per sheet.

Thanks Zelda, I'm Carey. Good tip on about page, will def add. PDF plotting was btw $4 or $8 per pattern roughly plus shipping

Just found your channel. Your green fabric is beautiful. However, it may be too stiff for a flowy dress or skirt. The cargo-type of skirts you showed pictures of would probably be great for that fabric, but you might be disappointed with a dress made from it. I say this because you describe it as canvas-like. I'd hate for you to be disappointed with a dress that didn't have much movement and flow to it. A very experienced YT sewing vlogger took a gamble and made a garment (can't recall what) using fabric that wasn't recommended on the pattern envelope. It turned out to be an "epic fail" because it was seriously the wrong type for the garment. Would hate for you to have regrets and get very discouraged with an expensive amount of fabric. Your thrifted trench coat purchase was a great buy for $6! I understand being a fulltime working mother and trying to find time to sew. You fit in what you can! Looking forward to your makes with your fabric haul. BEAUTIFUL pieces!!!
