I have a silencer for almost all my guns but this one is so expensive that I have to do without. A silencer is the best accessory you can attach to a gun.
It’s better to mount the choke and the locking nut and then mount the moderator to that and tighten the locking nut up to the mod. Gets a better tighter fit as they do work loose with shots. They are quiet with subs and good sight picture but add 10 inches to the length. Even starting with a 24/25 gun you still end up with a scaffold pole. But they do work well for certain uses.
I had one for years and it ended where it started: on the shelf. Very clumsy and not practical, it only quiets down clay cartridges but once you start shooting heavier ammo on crows or pigeons it has almost no effect. It is also very difficult to remove the choke tube, go for one of these fully suppressed ones instead if you want a silenced shotgun.
Using ‘standard’ cartridges is pointless as the silencer won’t do anything I.e. it can’t slow the cartridge down so you’d still get the supersonic ‘crack’. Anyone buying this would likely be using subsonic cartridges. You should have tested with subsonic cartridges with and without the silencer.
It would have been nice to have heard your comments regarding the handling and point ability with it fitted. Is it easy to shoot with? As for silencer’s good for pest control in built up areas.
Sorry but I think some of the people commenting have never shot a suppressed shotgun. I have a Silencerco Salvo in 12 gauge for several years now and it is never be off my 21" Beretta semi auto. The Salvo is modular so that you can increase or decrease the length/weight of the system to what suits your need. I use mine whenever I travel around the ranch and see something that doesn't belong here like wild pigs or coyotes. During the pecan harvest crows also have to be on the lookout. Being able to load either 6s or buckshot I can immediately take the shot without worrying about ruining my hearing. For absolute stealth I shoot Federal Metro loads which are subsonic and absolutely quiet. Thanks for your review and hopefully some shooters will take the plunge and try on. 4:41
37in??? The silencer looks to be 10in on its own! If youre shooting near built up areas its good but everyrhing else is a no, looks, no choke, front heavy.
This is a lot of mass to put on the end of a Shotgun barrel. This means the gun will swing like a telephone pole. The only people interested in something like this is those that shoot at paper.
Moderated shotguns are a fantastic tool in the right situation when you need to keep the noise down. I’ve shot Hushpower for years. I have now invested in an A-tech can’t wait to get out with it. Thanks David.
i find it looks rather ridiculous. Also, can't use this on an over/under (well, i could once probably 😅), and maybe most importantly; silencers are illegal in Belgium. Thank you for reviewing this, but in the end, i'm not a fan.
Why not put a scope on and a flash light and a bi pod grenade launcher a ammo drum 100 rounds a bayonet full auto laser scope a camera go pro a range finder a radio a ..........
These are suppressors, not silencers as they suppress certain percentage of sound, silencers are high percentage reduction for military/federal government use only..
There's no truth to that whatsoever. Both names are used to describe the exact same thing. All moderators/suppressors/silencers are designed to reduce sound as much as possible within their dimensional constraints.
@@ApurtureSci Really, I am 19 ARMY VET, part of the US RANGERS for 14 of them years then proceeded to another branch, in that time we used REAL silencers within our work and those were used close quarters usually in buildings, the Sniper units used them also with supersonic rounds. An off the shelf suppressor for civilian use is around 25% (+/- 5% on ammunition used) military/ federal use is much more and after that is BKOPs and they’re into custom made specific use only.. So, they’re not the same…. One is to suppress the noise and one is to silence (within 10ft) because sound still escapes from the ejection port.
@@Incountry Please find me a single online source that supports this theory. Why on earth would manufacturer design a suppressor that doesn't reduce the sound as much as possible? Every one of these manufacturers boasts how they have the quietest cans on the market, that's literally the whole purpose of them and huge amounts of R&D work go into designing smaller and quieter models. Not to mention that many manufacturers (like B&T) sell the exact same models to both military and civilians alike.
@@ApurtureSci Find it yourself, oh, but you can’t because it’s not there for civilian knowledge, but I will tell you the silencers we used were from an engineering company based in south Florida who make them for H&K the rest is not for public consumption. It would be great to see your presentation showing the bolt back on your gun before you screwed that silencer into the barrel, just so we know the gun is unloaded and you, and all around you are as safe as you could be. It would be great, but sadly not to be. Not a good example from an experienced shot and shooting presenter?
Sir, NO ONE on UA-cam goes out of their way more than David when it comes to showing the viewers that the gun is unloaded. Watch any of his videos, he does it literally 10-20 times when he’s reviewing a firearm. This man knows what he’s doing.
It even suppressed the audio in the video. 😃

The price is quite balanced. Practically at the price of handgun silencers. I will seriously consider purchasing it. Thanks for the presentation!
Using the 12G hushpower along with hushpower subsonic cartridges is very good. Might be worth trying the A-Tec with those cartridges.

Been available for years.
Meant to be used with Hushpower subs (pointless otherwise).
Good if shooting close to houses where noise could be an issue.

You choose what choke you need when ordering it. I have 2 invector plus chokes for it. One 1/2, the other 3/4
Take my money!
Nobody has ever needed one ever, or ever will, and as for having fun with one in the back garden,, 👀

Are you sure about that length - 37in from stock to end? 🤔
Do they sell a loudencer?
Does a silencer make it a section 1 firearm
I would have preferred to see the bolt open before screwing the moderator on 😮

soooo no choke? what is the spread? also whats the point? why do you want to shoot quietly?
You choose the choke you require. I have 2 one is half, and the other is 3/4( full for steel). Purchased when ordering the A-tec
Seem to have mono sound on the video, rather that the normal stero standard 😮
