Also, we only have 3 countries directly on our borders and all speak English.

It's true, the EU flag is seen a lot in Europe, but some countries, mostly the Med countries still fly their traditional flag everywhere. Got to countries like Greece, Italy, Spain, and you'll see their national flags everywhere. Good to see them maintaining their identity.
