Such a beautiful and heartbreaking story. In a somewhat remote way, Lisa is actually a person in my ghost kingdom as her adoptive mother, it turns out, is my biological mother, who surrendered me just a few years before adopting Lisa. I think there are emotions that only an adoptee can understand and connections that are easier for us to see, possibly because we spend so much life-energy seeking connections. I even noticed that the Harari book in the background at 29:45 is the very one that I'm currently reading. And however weird it may sound, I even feel a kind of connection to Isell. I can only speak for myself but I vacillate between wondering if I have any emotions left at all to feeling completely awash and overwhelmed with emotions that range from love to apathy, from abandonment to forgiveness and from self-sufficiency to loneliness. They're all in there. So grateful for this story and so grateful that Lisa is now squarely in my incarnated kingdom.

14.02 - when Isell said that "it would have just been me and you" and that he wouldn't need anybody else, that was so precious. This is an extremely insightful and important documentary that highlights the failures of the adoption system and the trauma it causes whilst also showing the importance of having birth parents be apart of an adoptee's life. I also loved that you discussed how society often looks down upon or forgets birth fathers. Beautifully made video and beautiful, heartbreaking, and triumphant story.

Oh my God. So many tears! Lisa and Isell are such wonderful people and I still think they were meant to find one another and be in each other's lives. I just wish they had more time and that the system wasn't as awful as it is.

Wow! What a deeply moving and powerful story. Adoption is loss. Adoption is complex. Adoption can be beautiful. I applaud Lisa and Isell for their honesty and willingness to tell their stories. I continually learn from adoptee voices and from the voices of birth parents. Thank you for your bravery!

Oh wow, what a powerful adoption story. For us international adoptees, it's even harder to find anyone.

Beautiful story and beautifully told! I believe in fate. Lisa and Isell were meant to meet although it took 55 years for their lives to intersect. Love the Tucker family's work. Thank you for everything you do!!
