The raptors won the lottery the year they drafted Andrea Bargnani first overall! They have no lottery restrictions so anything can happen!
Raptors need to tank this season for a chance to secure some high end talent for long term success. This is a result of Masai screwing up not maximizing the return of Kyle, Norman, Fred and Pascal in past transactions
Late game management has been really bad. RJ chucking hero shots with time on the clock for a play, Poeltl taking the inbound pass in a situation where the other team was guaranteed to foul, a lot of bad substitutions late in the game. Commence Operation Capture the Flagg.
I never liked this guy’s take on the Raps lol idk why I gave it a listen now. We are in the best tanking situation ever, like perfect situation. Our Raps are barely losing games (maintaining our winning expectations/culture) while plummeting for a generational draft, where Masai shines. Barely losing with a top depleted roster feeds their confidence. Look at the development of our players! Barrett is edging All-star, Dick is MIP, Mog & Shead 2nd Rookie team, etc. Darko is doing exactly what he’s supposed to AND MORE, developing our players. We should be getting consistently blown out, but our guys are fighting which is getting them better while we’re actively racing for Flagg. How do you not get that? Why fight for a play-in spot right before a generational draft? Look at the Raptors as the proverbial son in the Incredibles family running the track meet and we, the fans, are in the stands. We know they can win games, we wanna see the fight, BUT BY GOD IN HEAVEN MY LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST, DO NOT WIN THE GAMES 🤣🤣🤣 we get to keep our culture Demar died for and get a generational talent in the future… with a crazy core locked in for the next 3-4 years. The guys need to get their reps and we need to take a look to see who fits and who has to go - considering how we started, I’d take this losses if it means we can get a top 5 pick to get someone that will be good from day 1 next season
If you’re tanking it’s hard to have everyone involved. A 80 game tank is going to have repercussions of media all over it. Very important to get a win every three games for now, then adjust when teams just ahead of you are far enough ahead. Then there’s only the best chance to get the number one pick. No guarantee still to get that pick.
Our top players are injured 🤷🏾♂️ while healthy the raps already acknowledged it’s a rebuilding team. Our players are overachieving right now. I’m sure we aren’t alarming the league lol real basketball heads know we aren’t actively throwing games
