Traditional refrigeration is 1/4 and 3/8 SAE fittings . The odd thread is either 1/4 [rare ] or 1/2 ACME found only on automobiles . Just read the my dead Robinair instructions and the open ballast is used to eject first moisture down to around 3000 micron then u close the valve . Its faster and makes the oil last longer .
I had the Robinair pump of the same model as yours; I sold it a while ago and it was a real workhorse never requiring more than oil changes. If you do occasional a/c work, the Vevor is more than enough @ 12 cfm....but those who need something for regular professional use, I still would recommend the Robinair.
I had bought a 1/3 initially.... ended up buying one of these 1hp and noticed that some of the 1/2's had a ballast, checked aliexpress and they sell the ballasts on their own, so I plan to try modding it in..... they seem to just mount via 2 screw holes(will have to tap em) on the smaller oil hole(red cap) opposite side the suction intake
Most of these pumps ship with a container of oil. Takes a little ditz to not put the oil in when the unit comes with a bottle of oil and instructions to put the oil in before starting the unit.
Good to see a review . I am looking at purchasing this vac pump but cannot find FACTRY SPECS anywhere . Mainly the RPM as I suspect its 2800--3500 . This is whats measured on forums vs . Robinair will be 1500--1800rpm . Running at very high rpm may need a different oil and its obvious will wear out quicker . Over heating cut out has been an issue in reviews Can u help out . ?
The oil level is very confusing on the Vevor - some times it;'s in the middle, sometimes after use it's super high, then if you leave along for a while, the oil level shows really low, and then when you start it again, the oil level is okay... Anyone know the exact procedure for getting an accurate reading once the oil has been added and machine run a couple of times?
If these pumps are used for ac systems with schrader valves whats does the diameter of the pump connection matter wenn the valve on the ac system is limiting factor.... (sorry for my english as i am from Europe/Netherlands)
I now have 2 single stage vacuum pumps since someone was selling a brand new one with gadgets that were used ince for $20 off the Craigslist and i really only do car stuff and it looks like the 2 stage can pull a lot better vacuum but my question is doesvit really matter is it worth getting a 2 stage
There is special vacuum pump oil, auto parts stores usually will sell it for air conditioning service machines. Fill to the middle center line of the window on the pump.
Warning. You have to be at least 16 years old and IQ over 75 to use these pumps. As the nice uncle said, "You need to have at least 3 braincells to use this pump."
7:19 as a matter of fact, I am watching this video because i care about scientific grade vacuum pumps. because i need one of these roughing pumps to pump it down before i can even use my scientific grade vacuum pumps. lol
The fittings are for newer automotive 134a fittings and more standard AC fittings. Actually very useful because adapters are hard to find.

The fittings on the Vevor allows you to connect your gauge hoses directly to the pump.

If the pump is okay, you should be able to reach a pressure of -999,9 mbar in a minute or two. Damaged pumps only reach -800 mbar.

Vevor site doesn't have those.

Hello again, Catus Maximus and Tiny
Thank you for another Great Video 👍
what is the big blue cylinder with the yellow valve on the top ?
the brass fitting is the suction port, the blue cylinder is for the induction motor capacitor.

Looks like a good Robinair knockoff. I actually like my Robinairs.
