- Hezbollah’s long-time leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who led the group for over 30 years, has been killed by Israel in a series of strikes on Hezbollah’s underground headquarters in Beirut, both Israel and Hezbollah confirmed.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced his death on Saturday after speculation following the Friday strikes in Dahieh, a southern suburb of the Lebanese capital. Later, Hezbollah, backed by Iran, confirmed Nasrallah's death, saying he had “joined his fellow martyrs” and vowed to continue their fight against Israel and support for Palestine.
Hezbollah did not mention who would succeed Nasrallah or how they would respond to his killing.
Gunfire was heard across Beirut as mourners fired into the air to honor his death.

Lebanon is a much more complicated state , the lebanese government did not want a war with israel, but the government is weak with no influence over hezbollah who take their orders from iran . A lot of lebanese people who despise hezbollah will suffer in the conflict but thats the way it goes . If hezbollah is defeated or severely weakened, the country in the long term will be far better off and the government can take back control

I was watching Beirut skyline this entire night - 95% of explosions were huge detonations of munitions. There were between 10 and 15 airstrikes, but huge explosions and random rocket launches were observed for hours in almost all strike locations.

Exactly! Up until the 8th century all the lands west of Arabia were non-Arabic Christian and Jewish. After that, Islam invaded and conquered 95% of its neighbours and further afield into North Africa and Spain. Ask anyone in western Europe though you'd believe it was Christians and Jews who were the conquering aggressors.
