- 4 Reasons to FASTING! What is fasting? How to fast? Why should we fast? Is intermittent fasting good?
Notes:
Food is good, a gift from God! (1 Cor.8:8; 1 Tim. 4:4). Fasting should be a habit of praying and giving. Fasting is a normal part of being human. Jesus said, “when”, not “if” we fast. He modeled it and expected His followers to do the same. Fasting afflicts the soul Leviticus 16:29-31
Purpose of Fasting:
1. Calamities of life Ezra for finances and protection (Ezra 8:21). Fasting is a Biblical way to humble yourself (Psalm 35:13; 69:10).
2. Connecting with God Jesus said they will fast when I am gone (Mark 2:20).
3. Calling of God. Most of the people in the OT fasted in crisis, Jesus fasted for His calling.
4. Conquering of the devil (1 Samuel 7:6; 2 Samuel 1:12; 2 Chronicles 20:3; Matthew 17:21; Isaiah 58:6)
How to Fast:
1. Make it a habit
2. Take it slow
3. Drink water
4. Feed your spirit (u can’t control what you feel, control what you feed)
5. Try different types of fast (full, partial)
6. How you enter and end your fast matters
7. Consult your doctor

I did a 7 day fast I can tell you I only drank water and when I was hungry I went to the word which was my Bible. God gave me scriptures to read. I definitely had a glow about me and had wisdom and heard God speak to me. I even ended a relationship God told me to end.

Amen. I just finished a 60 hour fast. I read all of Jeremiah because God told me to and it was such a needed read for me. It was difficult when I first started fasting a few years ago and it is now simple to do and I absolutely love it. I hear His voice so much clearer when fasting and prayer. My longest water fast was 21 days. I didn't want to ever eat again lol. HalleluYah

@316flakita no, I went totally without food, only water for 60 hours. This post was a couple years ago. I now do a 72 hour fast about once every few months (That is my preferred fast) All glory to our Creator ❤️
There's indeed affliction.I have witnessed the benefits of Prayer and fasting..I have learnt to fast 2-3 days weekly just submitting to the Lord.
At the very end when he said the fruit of self control was lost when you ate that 4th cinnamon roll I felt that! One day when I had ended a fast I ate a little more than I should’ve because it was my favorite meal & later that day I had an argument with a loved one that didn’t have to happen had I kept the fruit of self control! I was so convicted because I had a great fast & wonderful time in God’s presence but I let anger get the best of me!
I’m getting baptized this Sunday. Currently on a fast and although it’s difficult, there’s a new fire of motivation in me, I know that’s the Holy Spirit! May God continue to bless this channel 💗

People who fast should also obey God. I remember a person who fasts often yet panic attack won’t leave him until he broke up with his girlfriend and live pure for the Lord. We cannot contaminate holy and sacred things with immoral lives. If we wanted the best fruit, you have to sow obedience and holiness while and every after fasting

I been through a lot of spiritual battles since May and even had to br prayed over and delivered since then I've been seeking God like never before listening to you Pastor Isaiah...Frank Hammond and Derek Prince. I feel strongly God wants to use me to tell others about the spiritual warfare we're in and battling but I've never fasted and every time I say I'm going to fast I end up eating. I need some guidance with this and if you would please pray for me and my family because my house needs to be in order.

That's okay. Just keep trying and work at it constantly. Let the Holy Spirit lead you.
Keep trying..once I could barely fast from morning to 6 o clock. Over the last few years I've fasted 3 days at least 4 times. It's not about length of time..it's about our heart and faith.
Now I'm trying to fast one day a week. Sometimes I've planned to fast 2 or 3 days but have only missed 2 meals..I felt I could not do it..so I had to accept it and not condemn myself.
When needs are pressing I've found its given me determination but even then..it's God's grace always.

Hi Ishita, so glad you want to start going on fasting. Since it's new to you, you can start with a fruit fast or half day fast. But don't stay there, slowly work your way towards the water only fast. Take baby steps. And remember to pray pray pray...let the Lord lead you.

What about during menstrual cycle? How do I join the 21 day fast?
That has nothing to do with how you do spiritually, you just fast as you normally would do. Or if you want pray about it.
You can still fast when on your cycle. God is so wise that the flow is actually lower during fasting and might even be shorter. Just pray always and God will see you through.
In the New Testament I thought there are no tithes - only offerings. Tithing was practised only in the Old Testament. God bless
