Sweet my home airport!! Columbia! It's a great little airport with fun winds at times, glad to see it on camera (weird I'm not flying around it from a different perspective)have a great day.
Great video. I've met Dave a few times at Oshkosh. He's built beautiful Starduster II's. Dave got angry with me when I sold my Starduster II for a Pitts S1S. I have thousands of landings on grass strips since I hangar at a private grass strip. It's the best. Just keep it perfectly straight on take-off and landing. It makes you a better pilot.
@Ben Lomov I just started my own UA-cam channel and it's tough finding the time to film, not to mention edit videos, between work and kids I never have the time.
Man, plane camping looks like a lot of fun. I totally want to get my pilot’s license, buy an airplane, and travel the country. If I ever get enough money time to do so that’s going to happen.
@@BenLomov I’d love to get a float plane. Or an amphibious helicopter. I want something that can land on water and on ground. I’m only 19. I got my whole life ahead of me. That’s something I’m totally going to work towards.

What an awesome video, one day after i finish my flight lessons i want to attend fly-ins as well! I feel this highlights some of the best parts of general aviation, as well as the community around it.
I remembered about your channel literally yesterday and checked for a video - there was nothing new and literally the next day you're back. Welcome back, missed you!

Great clean Pitts S1! I see it has smoke also? Mine has constant speed prop and 200hp IO360, I always fly pattern open cockpit it is such a joy with almost 2500fpm climb out. But the cockpit is too small when parachute is worn for me, and the engine tends to overheat with prolonged climb so flying pattern is the most fun.
Update, I have been to fly-ins and met one of my best friends, flown with some other amazing people too, found a group of pilot friends who I talk to almost daily and visit the hangar almost every weekend. still working towards being a pilot.
Tiny biplane? That thing is Huge compared to my old biplane! I flew my Baby Lakes biplane, open cockpit, from NY to Nevada. Since then, I sold it and she lives in Hayward CA. You can find it on UA-cam if you look around.
Hi ben thanks for all the videos your'e an awesome pilot and i really want to learn about aviation and i also want to become a pilot so if you can give any tips for me that would be appreciated thank you, Sid.
Hey Sid! Thanks for all of the kind words, you're too nice! Idk where you're from/where you live, but I would start by going to some local airports to see what kind of flight training programs they may offer. That's going to be the best place to start, and they can direct you from there. After that, you just need to be disciplined, work hard to pay for those lessons 😅, and before you know it you're a pilot!!! 😎
IS THERE A PROBLEM?!?! Lol jk ya I know it’s embarrassing…. But I’m working on it, really and truly!!! We’ll have another one before the end of the year, you have my word 🤣

I wanted to ask you a very serious question how do you get insurance when you are a new pilot and you just got your pitts s1 because the insurance companies don't really want to give insurance can you file it's on those? I am actually trying to buy a starduster too, and they are asking me for 760 hours tailwheel and the price from form $5000 to $6900 a year. so please explain how do you manage to do that.
Ya it's insane, that's all I have to say. When I first bought my airplane only one company even bothered giving me a quote, I think it was like $4,500 but I had to go with it because I was going to take the plane across the country. Nowadays even with more time in the plane, insurance is still going up so idk what to tell you... you technically don't need it, so it's completely your call. A lot of guys get liability only...
