Cool video. Matt Frick brought me here
Thanks for joining! Say hi to Matt.
Cheers.
Is it possible to make an indicator light flash using the relay?
for example „On“ (0.5s), „Off“ (0.5s), On.., Off.., ....😅
I can’t remember now, if there was such a mode on this timer relay. There may be, but I’m not sure. Certainly, what you describe can be achieved using two of those.
Will this particular relay work if one of the manual switches turns off the lights before it automatically turns off? Will the relay stay in it's normally closed state if the trigger is de-energized before the time is up?
Before trigger time elapses, the relay acts as a normally closed/open switch. You can turn the lights on or off manually and the relay will not activate.
what if connect the relay coil to the bulb in parallel and use relay's contacts to disconnect the bulb in interval(B) function? in this case you do not need an extra wire. each time you power ON the coil you start the timer and lit the bulb (NO). but when the timer still powered and finished period T you need turn OFF and ON two way switch to start count again
I think you answered your own question. This way, you’d have to flip the switch twice in order for light to come on. It’s doable, I guess.
Cheers
I understand that. I mean in my case you have less wire connections, install the relay close to the bulb, do not need to use 4way switch( use the existing switches) and con will be double click on the switch
Another thing to consider is that the relay would be power-cycled every time you turn on lights. It may be bad for the relay.
I doubt powering ON the relay (even often) could damage the relay. also you can save energy (3Wh) during not powering the coil. some pros and cons
Hello, we have a smart switch that needs a installation video, are you interested?
Thanks for your interest. Question: “Smart” as in Alexa kind of smart? If it requires some sort of controlling host device to be connected to, I am limited to the use of my smartphone. My house is not smart and probably not going to be. However, I am interested in new things! Honest overview in layman’s terms is what I aim for.
Thanks again,
Cheers.
