I mean this in the most respectful way, how did you reach this kind of message? I have been studying the Bible for many years, I took advantage of the free classes on UA-cam for Yale theology courses, I studied the old and new testament, I then took the full Harvard divinity course. The Bible says it's when we come to him like a child, sincere and yearning to know him that he answers us.. that does not mean God provides physical things.. When you humble yourself and have a pure heart in the desire to know him that he is there. It's promised in the Bible that it's messages are revealed to those who can see and hear, the only way to see and hear is that intimate connection, only the desire to know him . I talk to God constantly all day like other people talk if they had a friend in the room. I know God hears me.. Fear has nothing to do with it, people do not need to be broken down on order to seek him out.. Because people are so broken they are losing faith.. People are working 2 and 3 jobs just to end up with not having enough to keep food on the table, people are getting sick and have no access to medical. care.. the Bible says it's the responsibility of his children to care for one another.. A portion of his children unfortunately are the ones who a oontinue to oppress hard workers, low pay, no insurance, no family time because of work, no holidays, no vacations, no sick pay, all just to struggle .. Eventually people are finding themselves left with no opportunity to go to church, no time to teach their children about God ( hard to do with 2 jobs that prevent you from getting home till 2 a.m. marriages become destroyed because there is no time together, no time to have even a 5 minute talk . People who loved God, who lived in God, left broken, disalusioned..The Bible makes it clear that it is our job to help each other while we are flesh... He warns his children who oppress others by hoarding material wealth while his children go without... It's not fear.. it's greed , It's control, it's selfishness, it's people who do not know God that claim they do know him.
. God says I never knew you to those who have oppressed any of his children... Fear and desperation does not lead up people to God, .it's selfish people who underpay and work people without any consideration of how their families raise children who grow up with no Family holidays because the parents are working, they come home to be left alone, no activities , no guidance, parents who were torn apart because of the time spent away working because one job does not pay enough, two does not pay enough... Financial struggle ...It's man who has destroyed the marriages, childhoods, and spirit and eventually faith in God by using far to many people like slave labor... Pat as little as the law allows, work you through the middle of the night, weekends, holidays, no vacation, no sick pay, no insurance and demand a doctor's note when you are sick or you lose your job... I don't think you have a real understanding what it's like. for most people...God keeps me rich in my faith and spirit ..The Bible says that his chosen will face more struggle and difficulty, our reward is in heaven, those who laid their treasure upon earth received their treasure already. For where your heart is your treasure lays... I mean no disrespect, I'm just trying to be honest from what I know people are experiencing everywhere around me. It's a shame that so many people who are the ones who own the companies are the ones who destroyed not only families here in hearth but broke people do own so badly they list faith in God. I know that they will have to answer to God for their actions.. I was very concerned by your message because it so closely resembles the thinking of the people who are the ones destroying everything so badly . Doing it for so long , so severely they caused people to doubt god. Understand, any man who does that too so many people is not being guided by God. God wanted us to help , not make people fear , oppress or abandon them. Christianity attracts people when Christian's are kind, they are there to pull you up when you stumble, they don't exploit the people who work for them to quench their endless greed. They show live, and it's sincere. We all grow in God when it's reflected in our behaviors towards everyone. Fear doesn't hold us back, it's loss if faith from seeing how so many people who call themselves Christian behave as everything a Christian is not. People notice that. I absolutely agree with what you are saying about how people treat one another, and how lip-serving Christians give God a bad name. But, and this is a big but, in your statement, you are confirming what Jamie is saying about why we don't move forward. You are studying the Bible, and doing whatever you think it suggests you do, but you are afraid for your financial security. or at least, you are using fear for financial security as an reason for others if nor yourself. In fact, your "Midianites" are the business owners who do not pay people a living wage.
Your statements about how to connect to God and how to know Him, that is exactly what Jamie is saying. And he always rails against anyone saying people have to be broken down; Jesus never did that. In fact, we come to God because we know we are broken and he restores us.
One caveat - I'd be reluctant to get my Biblical teaching from two institutions who hire atheists to teach in the Divinity School. Both Harvard and Yale are famous for it.
Just think about it.
