Great video. Maybe an easy fix of the release lever would be to cut off the bend and add about two feet to the length and then bend the handle to the back. That way you could be standing to the side when released.
I don't like that style of head gate, I like mine that slides in instead of swing like yours. With mine its totally adjustable from cow to calf on the go, sure mine isn't auto locking but I added a second operating handle so I can close it from behind the animal.Plus, with your style, when the animals are pushing or pulling on it, it makes it very hard to release the animal. But, we all have our own preference
That is the Tarter Cattlemaster Series 3 correct? That's the one I bought. It looks like you have some pretty big girls and I think Tarter says up to 1200 lbs capacity for the series 3. Did you have any issues with fitting larger cows in it?
I bought one of the Series 3, It works fine for my calves but the bottom is too narrow and most of my cows wont fit. I suppose I will sell this one and buy a bigger chute.
Yes it is the 3 1200 lb is just away to cover them selves if somthing would happen. To the chute I have a couple cows that are north of 1600 and they did very well going in and fitting in the chute
Good to know Thanks. Off subject but if you are ever looking for low waste hay feeders check out JBM Manf. I bought 3 this summer 1 wagon 2 stationary, so far I have feed 80 big rounds and could not make 2, 50 pound square bales out of the waste on ground. We always figured we had about 15-20% waste with our old round feeders. I dont have anything in it just found a good heavy product that works. I figure they will pay for their self in 1 to 2 years or less.

I'm afraid I may have the same issue. Maybe lower some of the side loops to make more room?

Really I hadn’t had that trouble and I have some cows that are north of 1600 lb
